Since the bike already had a backrest when I bought it I would have to say the addition of the Clearview windshield rates pretty much at the top followed by the Stebel Air horn. Higher output stator was also a plus. Then there was the Led lights conversion followed by the LED pod lights....and so on...and so on.....it never ends.....

Finally finished the bike this past weekend. Took it out to work last night for its shakedown ride. Bike seems to run better and a bit more power with all that AIS crap removed and plenty more room to access stuff now. Repaired some small cracks and painted the Wagner Grill and inserts to match the bike as close as a spray can will allow. I also bought those stick on ports which I was going to apply to the air boxes, however I think they look better on the saddlebags.

Don, prayers are sent that all will go well in Boston. Have a safe trip and be well. Now, im not sure if you will be up to it, but there is (unless its no longer there) a pub in downtown Boston called Whiskeys pub and they have the best St Louis BBQ ribs that I have ever eaten. Clam Chowder aint the only thing in Boston ya know.....even though its pretty good there too.

Us old timers were taught to use a Lincoln penny. If you stick it in upside down and see his head then its time.

I knew those speedos would come in handy sometime...... Bike is runnung, no water leaks.......but, and I wont disappoint....the headlight blew. Low beam aint working..high beam is fine. Sure glad I didnt install the upper fairing yet. I guess after 10 years these things will happen. And I wont even mention that I still have the original shock......

I was never a fan of those gel batteries. Those AGM's have been around forever. Almost all of my AGM's have lasted at least 3 years with the exception of the period last year with the charging issues. I now have a Batteries Plus AGM.

Came home today at noon..took an hour nap....then tore out the radiator again and removed the thermostat housing. I was finally able to loosen that stuck bolt. I didnt want to break it the first time since a new housing is big bucks. However, once apart the O-ring inside was pretty well shot. The other O-rings were in good shape but I had replaced them anyway. Im thinking that since its facing rearward it is subject to running hotter since there is no air flow back there which may have deteriorated the O-ring. I guess after 10 years it was due. Should have the bike back together by this weekend. Thanks for letting me vent. Its either this or I do something to the first passerby that crosses my path........

Bags are already off, ECKster.........thats how I found it missing in the first place.....

With 7000 members its inevitable that we will lose some members with the new fee. In the meantime we will also gain new members as time goes on. Many members now havent even been active in the past two to three years. I always hated that word, "core" group. Yes, there are members who come on most every day. But we are all part of this whole group. Anyone here has the opportunity to participate more frequently. Its your choice. I always thought that we should charge a modest fee to help defray the costs but Don has always resisted. Now its a reality. A necessary one at that. So, lets move on and do what we need for this site to survive. You wont find a better one anywhere else.

One of these days Dan.....bang...zoom....... Wont be at MD this year either. Used up most of my vacation time with the knee surgery.

Got the bike fired up and I noticed a drip, drip, drip coming from the side of the radiator. Glad I didnt install the lowers yet. So I trace it back to what I think is the leak at the top hose. I install a larger (wider) clamp and fire it up..still drips. Pull the tank and neck covers off and after much probing I find the leak coming from the thermostat housing. From the one o ring that I was not able to remove and replace because the bolt was frozen. The rear one no less. So I have to spend most of tomorrow afternoon removing the housing again and finess that stubborn bolt out. One real bad part is trying to look into the neck area where the housing is located while wearing bifocal glasses and not being able to see the complete picture. You old farts will understand this..... At least the bike sounded good while it was running.

Air Induction System
1BigDog replied to Slab Pig's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Slab Pig...I just removed my AIS system after having it blocked for the last 5 years. My personal opinion is that it does very little to effect anything. Many others have removed the system once the warranty ran out. It sure makes accessing things under the engine a little easier too. And dont feel guilty about farting........
