I need electrical help again......
1BigDog replied to 1BigDog's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yea, but sometimes you just want to put that sick friend out of its misery...... Thanks for all the help. And George, once again, I do really appreciate all the info you sent me. -
No, I still have you on the list. The list is posted on page 5 of this thread. Your in the second go round if we ever get the first batch finished.... Right now as we speak (type?) my friend Dan is up at his brothers fabrication shop in Savannah GA trying to work the kinks out. Hope to have a more positive report either later tonight or tomorrow. Ill add those two new orders once I hear from my friend as to how things went.

Me and Ozzie from upstate NY and our wives of course did the Dragon several years ago, both down, then did a u-turn and headed back up for our t-shirts. With a bike as heavy as the Venture you sure do need to stay on your toes. No sightseeing either. Cheraloa skyway was more my speed. But nowadays im more inclined to have a blast on I-95....

HELP!! Missing Child (my step son was abducted)!!!
1BigDog replied to ArticusMedicus's topic in Watering Hole
We will keep you guys in our prayers and hope that everything turns out good. -
First....step away from the bike and take a breather.......when you feel better go and tackle it. It helps! Mine was binding also when I installed them. You really dont get much stretch with them. Some have moved them while others were able to stretch them. I was lucky not to have to reroute them. One thing I had to do to relieve the binding was loosening the right throttle housing and repositioning the whole assembly, all the while playing with the thumbscrews that tighten/loosen the cable at the throttle. Eventually I found its "sweet" spot. I also shot cable lube into the cables to make it slicker. Just a matter of patience and tinkering until its right.

I just replaced my shock. All I removed was the right side floorboard and back panel. Everything else was done with the bike up on the lift and a floor jack under the rear wheel. Took me about 1.5 hrs, only because im lazy........

I must apologize to all of you waiting patientely for these deflectors. There has been some more unexpected delays in part due to my friends health issues. There has also been some slight blemishes in some of the finishes which we are in the process of correcting. Some are coming out real nice while a few others are having some issues, nothing that some elbow grease wont fix. But its just taking time, more then we anticipated. I wish I could give you all a better answer but its the only one I have for now. All this high heat down here in Florida in a non air conditioned work area sure dont help things...... Hang in there......

I need electrical help again......
1BigDog replied to 1BigDog's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
OK, OK, so its a bad battery....It failed the load test....I still had 3 months of a 1 year warranty on it so it was replaced without question. But im still going to go ahead and replace the starter relay even though I suspect that the old one is still good. For a bike thats 10 years old and already had most of its electrical components replaced already, another 35 bucks aint gonna break me. Just to be safe, ya know..... -

Ill be heading over to Batteries Plus soon for that load test. I did a resistance test on the cables and it read 0.001 so theyre good. I have the starter relay on order. Ill post what the battery did later tonight. Thanks, Herb -
If easy off dont work, try Goo Gone......that should do it.

Last time I was up Mt Washington by bike was 30 years ago. It was truly breathtaking. I have no idea what restaurants are there now and hotels but we stayed at a nice on right off of 93. Back then it was the end of 93 and I dont know if it was extended. We also ate at DQ alot even back then.....

Looks good Brad. Lonna's getting pretty familiar with the inner cleanings of those 1st gens, huh....... You know that I-10 starts out here and goes right through Texas, right? And I still have a bottle of FB left (for christening purposes only).

Sometimes those "Pings and Clanks" are telling ya something sometimes. My Harley friend has the same attitude..just ride it to death. He just took his to the dealer and spent over 600 bucks on a rear tire and oil change. Our tinkering saves us some big bucks sometimes. And dont say you cant give the C50T away...ill take it from ya if you give it to me, noisy lifters and all....

A decent deal if you can get it around 12,500. Those floorboards arent cheap either. Wonder why the owner couldnt go cross country on the RSV??
-
If you make it to Jacksonville FL give me a shout. I can probably run you down to St Augustine and back up through Jax beach, over the ferry to Heckscher drive all the up to Fernendina beach...all along scenic waterfront A1A.

Gary, mine did something similar about 5 years ago. There is some sort of sensor or sending unit under the tank that goes bad. The dealer replaced that along with a new dash panel because he said the gas gauge was bad too. The gas gauge is part of that panel and cannot be seperated so basically I got a whole new dash under warranty.

Now then, theres some real change we can believe in........

I never had any trouble contacting them. In fact they were a willing contributor to one of our project bikes last year. Maybe they cut back on staff due to the economy, or something.

I like it..looks like a good idea. And Redneck, where can I send your donation to?? Will you accept a check??

I was one of the guys who recommended a patch change back then but I was only looking to add a little color to it. This new logo looks like it fits the bill. I like it. Ill definitely be in for a few shirts with and without pockets. You guys did good!!

Prayers sent Rod. Hope everything goes well.

Taken from an old Chinese book of proverbs found in the Himilayas by a group of pygmy sheepherders on their yearly meet and eat: "Dont sweat the petty things and dont pet the sweaty things"
