Good chat tonight, peg

I answered you in trike talk as well…🤣 I’ll find a grommet locally as shipping was kinda pricey
-
Can someone please post a picture of the trim covers that go around the base of the antennas on the Hannigan RSV trike? Mine are missing and I have not been able to find an image of them anywhere
-
Thanks. I have this unnatural desire for clean things. 🤣

Don, I felt the same way. But now I don’t know why I waited so long. My last bike was a Heritage and it helped me stay on two for a little longer but even that became hard to hold up so when this came along at a good price I made my move.

After an 8 year hiatus from my old 99 and this site I picked this beauty up in SC a few weeks ago. After a few shake down rides I determined it needed some maintenance and some TLC. Put it up in the air and went front to back. Fixed the e brake, new rear pads, new battery, rear bumper hitch step, oil and filter, plugs, new air filters, new LED H4 bulb, grease the front bearings, remove plenty of road grunge, Seafoam, Seafoam, Seafoam….flushed all hydraulics and radiator. New NOS fairing (wrapped fairing will be going up for sale soon). Should be on the ground tomorrow and ready for a good clay bar and wax. Trike came with all of the goodies….reverse, aux tank, ez steer, Barnett clutch, high output stator, clearview windshield with vent, utopia backrest, passenger arm rests that swing up. Had my last Venture for 12 years. A few Harleys and a Triumph in between but I’m happy to be back on a venture again. Sold the piggy backer trailer.

Hi everyone. 1BigDog, formally known as Ruffy is back on a Venture after an 8 year hiatus. A couple of Harleys and a Rocket 3 filled the void but at 66 I needed to go to a trike. Found a nice 2005 silver with a Hannigan kit in SC, sold my Heritage and a few days later im back on an RSV. It felt like I was putting on an old glove. Got the trike up in the air and going through it front to back. The usual maintenance....Brakes and brake fluid, oil, filter, plugs, radiator flush, grease the bearings, you know the drill. Amazing at how much I remember from working on my old 99. Looking forward to catching up......

After selling my beloved 99 I never thought I would get excited about another bike. Oh well, things have changed. My new to me 2008 Triumph Rocket 3 Tourer arrived Monday am. Jonsey, you were right. Shes a beauty! Got her registered yesterday and took her out for a shakedown run. Dam thing almost threw me off. You CANNOT twist the throttle like you are on an RSV and expect to survive. The bike just up and goes fast! 150 ft lbs of torque comes in below 2500 rpm. You do the math. Plus the previous owner added Triumph non cat mufflers with a nice gentle bark and KN filters along with an engine re-map. He now has about 117 HP at the rear wheel. He did push it to 138 RWHP but toned it down a bit. Specs say it would do 0-60 in 3 seconds. Ill never find that out though. Oh yea...fuel injection! Fit and finish is top notch as well. Yes, its a big bike, which was one of the reasons why I sold my 99. It was too top heavy for me. But while this beast is heavy, it is not top heavy and pretty well balanced for such a big bike. Got Kury pegs coming and I may add a few "Farkles" here and there but ill leave it pretty much stock. Ill post some pics when I take some.

So, we all have heard weird lyrics when we listened to songs over the years but were never able to figure it out. Well here ya go. http://www.kissthisguy.com/funny.php Scuze me while I kiss this guy.............

Somehow while im not 100% sure, I think these two were instrumental in helping behind the scenes to get my 99 sold . I would just like to thank you guys for your efforts. Sure do wish I could have kept her but it is what it is. Im confident Dave will take care of her while hes piling on the miles. Ill still pop in from time to time here. Who knows.....maybe another bike will show up in the future. Play nice........

Well, new owner took her home to Texas today. Dave AKA Celticrhune from the Delphi forums Picked her up today. Told him about this site and the motley Texas crew. I think he's in Greenfield TX. Steve K stopped by too for its farewell. Im gonna miss her.

So, were now in 2014. Its promising to be a good year for me. Lets see.....sold the RSV and will pay off the house..so far so good, kinda sorta. Then wifey decided to break some more teeth and now wants implants again (dental to you pervs). So thats 7k in the pipeline. Then a close relative died Monday after a lengthy stay in a nursing home. She had Alzheimer's pretty bad. But wait, it gets better.....took my Trailblazer with 166k on the clock out today in the cold...yes it was in the 20's here in Florida. Went about a mile and BANG....the sun case inside the trans let loose. Lost 1-2-3 gear and reverse. Limped home and got estimates from 750 to 1700. Looked around for a later model Trailblazer but was unable to find any in the area under 100k miles. Did find one with 55k miles but dealer wanted almost 3k over high KBB retail price. Told him to stuff it. Called up some of the dealers that I dealt with over the years. Got some decent prices on newer Ford Edges but by the time everything was figured in the monthly payments would be over 360 bucks again. Sooooo, that rebuilt trans is looking better then ever.....OH yea...did I say that after dealing with Allstate for almost 30 years they sent me a possible non-renewal notice on my homeowners insurance because I have a flat roof over the garage. No issues with it but its a new tactic to rid themselves of policies. Hope your year is going better.

Taking a shot here but..... Im looking for a cheap used lap top with windows 7 or 8 installed primarily to use an SCT tuner for my car. Anyone here have one they may want to part with cheap? Or maybe trade for some 2nd gen parts like a stock final drive/RoadKing mufflers with brackets?

I am offering a one time deal on my 99 which is currently listed in the classifieds for 6k. After doing the valves and color tune it was determined that one valve in the #3 cylinder is out of spec and I need to go back in to change the shim. I plan on doing this some time in late Jan. However, I will let the bike go for 5700 now as is to avoid having to do the correction. It will all be labor as it will need no new parts. I just dont have the time nor the inclination to work on the bike right now. Just thought id toss this out there.

So far my 99 has received about 8 responses from CL. One no show, 5 off shore paypal scammers and another possible scammer on the stage right now. One offer of 4 grand..what a putz...If this last one is a scammer then im pulling my ads. That place just sucks.

I am considering selling the 99. Right now im going through all the pros and cons and im going nuts. If I do decide to sell it its because of some personal considerations that I am facing. Most of you already know what mods are in the bike. It is in excellent condition. I just have to get my head wrapped around this one. And no, its not to purchase a Harley. I'd rather not put my reasons out publicly. If anyone is interested in this bike then maybe we can talk about it. Like I said, im still going over whether I will sell it or keep it.

I currently have the drilled out pre cat RK mufflers on my 99. I am not too happy with them but the stock muffs are way too quiet. So, my question is for those who have run different mufflers is: which muffler sounds different then the HD mufflers. I am looking for a throatier sound, not necessarily louder if you know what I mean. Bubs sound nice but they flake chrome too easily. I havent heard many different mufflers other then the RK's and Bubs and im looking for opinions on different sounds from different mufflers. So basically, if you have ever compared RK muffs to other brands, id like to know about it. Thanks.....Jeff:smile5:
