With the shock oil you will smell a hydraulic oil smell, different from an engine oil smell.

I would check with the dealer first to see if any repairs you may make will void the warranty for that item. If you get it on record with the dealer that its definetely busted and he orders the parts I see no reason for him to not allow you to make a temp repair while your parts are on order. Just covering the bases here..... -

Buck, most likely its overflow from the engine. Seems that if you add the full 3.9 qts when you change oil and due to the severe lean angle of the bike on its sidestand, some of that oul collects up top and drains out the tube. Next oil change you might try only adding 3.5 qts. It seems to work. I have been doing it for years with no problems. Since it is under warranty by all means have the dealer look at it but im pretty sure thats your problem.

They mount to the light bar under the fairing. Look under the bar and you should see 2 holes on each side..thats where they go.

Automotive fuel filter replacement?

While I dont remember the number from that far back when I had my 83 I do remember rerouting the hoses so the filter was located just inside the frame behind the passenger floorboard. It was a metal filter with a 3/8 end. Maybe 1 1/2" in diameter. Sure made changing the filter easier. Any size that will fit the line will do fine. -

I know Plexus comes in a spray can but I never heard of it coming in 1,2&3. You sure your not thinking of Novus windshield cleaner? Now that comes in #1 for polishing, #2 for removing fine scratches and #3 for heavier scratches.
