  5. Another good shield.. www.clearviewshields.com had mine for 5 years and I love it. Vented too!
  6. JDIX, not saying that this is the problem but on August 22 I sent a set of deflectors via USPS Priority mail to Canada and as of the 15th of Sept the purchaser emailed me and said they had not arrived yet. After checking with Customs and USPS they said a delivery attempt was made on Sept 9th and no one was home. They suggested taking the shipping # to your local post office to see if they are holding it. The customer did and the post office had it in the back. Apparentely Canada post office does not attempt a redelivery. Your first order just may be sitting at your Post Office. Its worth a shot.
  7. Im just going to be basic here. Im sure others will post with some deeper things to check out. My 99 ran sluggish when accellerating up a hill in 5th gear. I had to downshift to get any real push out of it. The carbs were synced too. Muffinman did a colortune to it and it ran great after that. Had power up hills too. 5th gear is an overdrive and these bikes do like to rev. Dropping down a gear when going up hill is not unreasonable. Since you have high mileage have you changed your fuel filter and ran seafoam in the tank? How is the spark from the coils. You could have a bad/intermittent coil. It is possible that your valves need adjustment also but I havent heard of anyone having it done recently. I have 62k on mine with no adjustments yet. Start with the basics and go from there.
  8. :missingtooth:Just before pulling into Nashville I spotted and old friend hitchhiking......I pulled up and Virginia climbed on. After a few well placed hellos we decided to miss the meet and eat and turned southwest for our own adventure!!!!!
  9. Seems that this motorcyclist had a great time all by himself at Hooters.... http://www.news4jax.com/news/20944712/detail.html
  10. My 99 sometimes hangs up when its hot. I have to fish a bit for neutral, again, only when its hot. Sounds like your not getting enough clutch in there. Look at your clutch fluid. Is it a nice bright amber color or does it look like a dark ale? It might be time to flush out that old fluid and replace it with some fresh stuff.
  11. Its under warranty..let the dealer sort it out.
  12. I was gonna say a spare parts bike or two......
  13. This is a general comment to all, not just Piper: You really shouldnt have to be anal with the air pressure to keep a tire together. There is usually a margin of error built into just about anything you buy. How many times has you air pressure in your car tires been a little low? Would you have freaked out if they lost rubber? I remember Firestone tires and Ford Explorers not doing too well. I never liked Firestones either. I remember the Firestone 721's from years ago also coming apart. I had 2 sets out of three metzelers come apart on me and I always run the proper pressure. I wont deny how well the tire handles wet or dry but I do like to keep my rubber on the rims, not in pieces on the road. Ill say this again...for those who feel their Metzelers are safe, more power to you...just keep your eye on them closely.
  14. Jumped from an 83 to a 99 6 years ago and havent looked back yet. In my opinion the 2nd gen is a much better all around bike. I found it to be more comfortable, more leg room, more passenger room and better overall looks. I know the 1st gens might (loosely used term) be quicker and more nimble but these are still touring bikes and not canyon carvers. A 2nd gen is top heavy and it will take a bit to get used to it but I still wont give it up now for any other bike.

The engine was a 498cc DOHC parallel twin with dual CV carburetors. The transmission was a 5-speed. While not receiving much praise from critics and riders alike, Cycle World took note of its comfortable and roomy seat in its 1975 test, writing, "Unusual in that it is brown in color, it is long enough to carry a briefcase or passenger without crowding the rider. And the padding is soft enough for comfort. Believe us, without this seat you couldn’t ride a 500T very far and get off smiling."[1] [edit] Specifications [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_overhead_cam]Double overhead cam[/ame] vertical twin with torsion bar valve springs. 16. Rob, try changing that fuel filter first. That can of seafoam may have clogged it up a bit.
  17. Hey Elvis......Florida is the other way....and riding with Beer 30 is real bad for your image.....click on your website three times and say I wish I was in Florida..there is no place like home http://jaxelvis.com/
  18. Theres a Texas Roadhouse in Lake City FL right off I-75 and I-10. Last one we did anywhere near S GA was about 4 or 5 years ago in Tifton GA. And I believe there may be something coming up in Savannah shortly.......
  19. Ruffy was flying past an ice cream place when he spied a whole bunch of VentureRiders sitting there in the parking lot in a dazed and confused state. I pulled in and Zeus, realizing what happened to the VR members, took advantage of the situation and, along with Xena, began to eat all of the Ice Cream out of each members hands.........Suddenly, out of nowhere.............
  20. Here they are mounted....They are hard to see in this pic but look right above the little bell hanging below.
  21. My checks in the mail....
  22. Could have been worse...it could have been a bat..but your already batty enough..
  23. Annie....your set shipped today. Last set we shipped to Canada took about 2 weeks. Im guessing Australia might be about the same transit time. Thanks for your order!!! Enjoy.
  24. Thats a nice looking bike for the price and with 13,700 on the clock its barely broken in. Is that price firm? If not, just tell him to toss in those pipes and shield and the deal is done.....
  25. Having gone through a host of electrical problems with my 99 first thing I would do is to pull the battery and take it to an auto parts store and have it load tested and go from there. How old is that battery? A new regulator is about 55.00 at www.partshark.com . Those connections (pins) were worn out on mine badly and the red lead was burned.
