  1. Went ahead and ordered the digital gauge that Mike recommended. Looked like its pretty sturdy. Sorry Craig, but I had already ordered the gauge but thanks for the link. You too Beav.... Between that and the Battery bug I should be covered.
  2. Kinda sorta figured that he was on the move. At least hes a little further away from my bike AND my wife.....
  3. Mike, which resolution did you get? The 1/10 or the 1/100??
  4. Listen.....we NEVER EVER publish what we actually spend on our bikes for accessories.
  5. Mike, where'd ya get that from???
  6. Its not actually a post in the traditional sense but more of a poured lead flat area that the screw bolts to. Like Squid said, its threaded and to me its way stronger than a conventional post. If you overtighten this one then you most likely would have broken off a post anyway..LOL.
  7. Mind over matter...think of the whine as a turbocharger kicking in......
  8. Hey Gib, sure sounds like that battery is about to bite the dust real soon, like dropping a cell. Its acting like mine did when I used a cheap Batteries Plus battery. Dropped cells like crazy and my dash went haywire too. Put in a new starter relay switch in (mine was corroded badly) and took apart any electrical connection I could find, cleaned the connections with contact cleaner then dabbed some diaelectric grease in there and closed them up. Got the Deka battery now and im happy with it. Those heavy duty posts sure are nice too.
  9. http://www.argusanalyzers.com/battery-monitors/products/bb-sbm12ps-battery-bug-battery-monitor-argus-analyzers.html I went ahead and ordered the Battery Bug from Argus. Wing World magazine had a great write up on it. I just couldnt see spending 150 bucks on the Kisan gauge.
  10. After all of the charging system woes I had over the last year I thought they were back after a 6 month hiatus. My Signal Dynamics idiot light starting to indicate (by color) that I was only charging in the 12v range and if I switched on my driving lights I was in the 11 range. Here we go again, or so I thought.... Today I pulled the seat and with my trusty DMM attached, I had 12.98 off, 13.82 at idle, 13.94 at 3000 rpm and with full accessories turned on had 13.56 at 3000 rpm and 13.48 at idle. Sooooooo, im gonna toss that idiot light and try and find a better meter. Im looking at the Kisan but the cost is putting me off. Maybe a Battery Bug will do.
  11. A second gen in the back of a pick-up?? Oh the humanity of it all........
  12. Rob, what these do is tie the crash bar into the floorboard mount for a solid, non-flex feel, which in turn keeps the crashbar from flexing forward and possibly cracking the lower fairing. Now, if you keep dropping your bike, Donna from RLAP is gonna come over and smack you silly....
  13. Dan is working on another product for our Ventures. No info is going to be given out right now but.....if someone has an old saddle bag rail, be it rusted, or scratched, or damaged we could use it as a mock up piece. We need the ones that wrap around the outside of the bag. More shiny stuff to follow.....
  14. You havent lived until you have been "Fleeced" by Tom. :smile5: The fleece jackets are top notch. So are the head wraps and sweats. I think I need to update my wardrobe soon. Us big guys are tough on fabrics.....
  15. I also had to move the shifter bracket. The brake side was a bit tight but I tapped the bolt through with a punch. Also ordered my clamps from Dennis Kirk, but I ordered the 3 piece chromed set. A little less costly then the quick clamp. http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=406929&store=&catId=&productId=p406928&leafCatId=&mmyId
  16. Yep, its those lawyers. Glad to see your in such great spirits. Good humor will help make the process easier to take. Heal well and soon.
  17. OK, so here goes...driving light switch was cracked so I replaced it and the relay too, just in case. R1 brake caliper conversion and SS lines from Sky Doc: Took about a 100 mile ride today. Pads are worn in now and while I had expected heart stopping braking power off the front brakes now, that wasnt the case. What I did find was a better stopping brake overall. Much smoother than before and easier to modulate. The SS lines front and rear were a big improvement as well as the SS clutch line. Also the "cool" factor of those R1 calipers on the bike are worth it. Makes the front end look less cluttered. LED LIGHTS: Those additional 62 LED lights added to the rear as run/brake lights really light up the rear now. Another rider commented that she followed me into a gas station to tell me how bright the back of the bike is now and how well I am seen. She couldnt believe the bike was 11 years old. She thought it was new. Made me feel good. She had a 1300 VTX. Carbon one crash bar brace: Very solid. Held the crash bar in place, no more flexing when feet are on pegs. Another worthwhile improvement. I know, I know, pics will follow. Im just a very lazy slacker.....
  18. Congrats are in order. Now the fun begins.......for the next 20+ years.....
  19. http://www.bohannonbattery.com/html/deka.html EXT20L is the one you want and free shipping to boot.
  20. Hmmmm, please dont tell me you "Spoon" your venture also...please dont....now ill have nightmares....
  21. Wish I could make it but...work calls.
  22. 6 years??? That battery is toast. Most likely those few boosts finally finished it off.
  23. Me and Dan talked about making the fairing deflectors in polished aluminum but those curves and mounting brackets are just too intricate for us. Those look great chromed. But like you said, you need a new set to start with. Plastic cant be sanded too well and those scratches sure will come out to haunt ya. Fantastic job......hmmm, will the wife let me do this too?? (anyone have a spare room in their basement?)
  24. So I finally get the bike off the lift and on the road yesterday. Rode it to work to shake it down. The crash bar brackets make a world of difference. Great idea Larry. The R1 caliper conversion, im still evaluating that one. Its hard to tell how much of an improvement it has given me until the new pads are seated in properly. Braking does feel different than stock and the bike did stop pretty good though. More on this as the pads wear in. I did use the newer Motul 5.1 brake fluid, not to be confused with DOT 5 fluid. Its compatable with 3 and 4 but it has a higher boiling point. Tail lights really light up the night now. Got home and parked in the garage this AM. Wife came home an hour later and asked why I left my headlight on. Went into the garage and the driving lights were on. Switch no longer worked the lights. Of course this happens right after I put the fairing back on.........New relay and switch is going on in a few minutes. Good thing im pretty good at removing the fairing. Whole process only takes maybe 10 minutes. Maybe someone here will design a hidden hinge for the fairing so we dont have to bolt it together. Hmmmm, maybe velcro fasteners???? (J/K):smile5: Pics will follow later....
  25. Living in Wisconson with all that cold up there im sure those fork deflectors would warm your legs up better than extra lights......
