Congrats on your new ride. I like the red ones, but.....silver is proven to be faster. Personally I like the trunk where it is. Comes in real handy at times, even just tooling around town.

http://www.customdynamics.com/stingerz_led_accent_lights.htm I ordered two 30 LED strips and related channels, along with the wiring kit for run/brake light conversion. About 85.00 altogether. -

Charging system gauge question.....
1BigDog replied to 1BigDog's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Keith, heres the link with pics of the battery bug installed. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=48338 I chose to mount it on the right side of the rear fender, out of the way but still visible if needed to check. I felt it was too big and ugly to mount it on the dash area. I think its a great addition to our bikes, or any bike. My battery is showing 100% health and 12.9 after sitting for 2 days. Reads 13.8 when running. Supposed to let you know when your battery is near the end of its useful life. -
Here is the basic install of the HID lighting system. Also tossed in a few pics of the Argus Battery Bug location and the future Digital Gauge location. Didnt have enough time to finish it today. Also my new LED lights in the rear....Also the SkyDoc R1 conversion and VMAX splitter along with the SS lines. And the reason why I dont need an alarm system.....

Charging system gauge question.....
1BigDog replied to 1BigDog's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I tried the ground connection thing. I had two different ground wires at the same point. Once I seperated them, the charging gauge went back up into the 13 range. Too bad I ran out of time to properly mount the gauge. That will be a project for another day. At least I now know what the problem was. Thanks for the suggestions. -

HID headlight installed
1BigDog replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Its finished!!! Plug and play once you discard those instructions. I got to leave for work now but ill post some pics tomorrow. Can you say 1st degree burns if your caught in its beam??? -
I just installed the Argus Battery Bug and it works great. 100% battery capacity and voltage reads between 13.7 and 14 while running. Drops down to 13.2 when parked. At the same time I disconnected my Signal Dynamics charging indicator to be replaced by a digital meter. Here is where im seeing differences in the charging rate and where my questions lie. As stated, the Argus is showing full charging. This gauge mounts directly to the + &- side of the battery for a direct read. The digital gauge is wired to a ground and the + lead is tapped into the ignition wire under the fairing. This is where im getting a lower reading from the digital gauge. 12.9 while running down to 12.2 fully loaded with all switches and lights on. Yet the Argus BB shows the charging volts at the battery in the 13 range. Did I do something wrong here? Why would there be such a difference in readings? Is there a better place to hook up this digital gauge other than the ignition wire? Its the pink with yellow striped wire. My driving lights are also tapped into this line. Help!!!!

BURNT! clutch.. wow..
1BigDog replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Hmmmm, based on these new lean angle theories, what would happen if we ride the bike on the other side of the earth, say in china? Would the oil then be pooled up in the heads????? :rasberry: -
BURNT! clutch.. wow..
1BigDog replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
At 25k my stock clutch starting slipping. I installed the Barnett set-up with new carbon fiber discs and have used 20-50 synthetic oil ever since. 6 years and 40k later still no issues. I try to stick with one brand of oil. Personally, Yamaha dino oil got some of the worst ratings on some comparison chart I read a long time ago. As far as that clutch cover gasket went, I bought a roll of rubber impregnated gasket material and made my own. $4 bucks for the roll and I have made at least 6 other gaskets from it as well. Think old school....... -
My thoughts and prayers go out to Bob's family. Rest in Peace, Bob.

Replacing clutch fluid with a MityVac
1BigDog replied to Midrsv's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I just bled my whole brake and clutch system with my MityVac. As long as you have a good tight fit on the bleeder you shouldnt have any problems. One thing to do is to suck out any old fluid from the resovior with an old turkey baster and clean up any deposits lurking in the base of the resovior. Also make sure you cover up any exposed area around the resovoir. I used plastic garbage bags. Keeps fluid from doing any damage to painted areas. -
My reasons for choosing the F100 24 filter was that it was slightly narrower than the stock filter, thereby making it easier to replace in the future. Removing that filter from its holder was a real PIA. Now all I have to do is to pull up on the hose and access the clamps. The filter still sits within the rubber mount, just not secured by it.

Yep. 4 pistons on rear. Just rebuilt my rear caliper. Fronts are two piston floating design.
