HID Low Beam, but No High Beam ??

George, i dont know if this will matter any but when i wired mine up i didnt follow their directions perfectly. I grounded my black to a good clean ground in the fairing and ran the hot to an aux fuse box under the seat with its own fuse. Like I said, im not sure if it matters but its just a thought. Its also possible that your ground connection isnt in a good spot, especially if your sharing a ground location with another ground wire. ??? Jeff:smile5: -

Oh hell....maybe a pot of chicken fat would be sufficient too, and when it gets hot at least it would smell like fried chicken. Hmmmmm, im hungry now:smile5:

While most greases are sufficient I personally use Honda Moly60. For a few dollars more why not use the best out there. But thats just my opinion.

I have had the Hoppy powered hook up on my 99 since 2004. Wiring it in behind the battery was a bit tight but once its in place its fine. I have it running along the top of the rear fender, under the trunk and tied under the rear trunk mount, out of sight. One big plus, since my taillight wiring area is full to capacity, is the ability to splice into the Hoppy's wiring harness under the trunk to power my added rear lights.

We have no more material left so a new sheet of 6061 T6 would need to be purchased. Even a half sheet would cost several hundred dollars not to mention the cost of driving back and forth from Florida to Savannah to pick up the material. New cutting bits need to be purchased as well as sanding/polishing materials. I dont think you would want to spend over 300 bucks for a set!! Thats why we had the 20 order minimum. Add in the fact that the shed where these are made is not air conditioned and temps in there have been pretty close to 100 degrees lately makes it very hard for Dan to be in there with his health issues. So, if theres a rush for more orders then im sure we can make more but until then......... We priced having them chromed already. Seems there is a 7 step process for aluminum. $160.00 for one set of $135.00 for 5 sets. Thats on top of the price of the deflectors. You may find a cheaper priced shop somewhere to chrome these. These prices were from Space Coast Plating, a well respected shop.

The 2nd gen is a very heavy bike. While I never ran the Kenda tires I have also heard mixed reviews about them. I wouldnt expect the mileage from them that you would get from an Avon Venom tire, which is what I run. Kenda is just what it is...a low priced tire. Get the Avons and be happy.

The low tire pressure is a spin from Metzeler to shake off blame for a poor tire. Most of us on this forum are pretty anal about maintaining our Ventures and that would include proper tire pressure too. Of three sets of 880's that I have run 2 sets lost rubber. Maybe some or most of you have been just pretty lucky with your 880's. I sure as heck havent. They are a great handling tire and I do miss that about them, but I also like my rubber to stay on the tire, not come off when you least expect it. Back to the tire pressure issue. How many of us had run low pressure in your car tires. Most of us have been guilty at one time or another. Have you lost rubber? Ive been riding since the 70's and have had Dunlops, Conti's, Avons, and whatever cheap tire there was out there on various bikes. Back then I wasnt really meticulous about maintaining some of my old bikes. My main objective was partying. But in all those years I never had rubber come off a tire until Metzeler. I mean how low is low on a bike? If we run too low a pressure the bikes handling will surely suffer and any one here would make the pressure adjustment right away. So, again, how low is low on a Metzeler to cause it to lose rubber and for how long must that pressure be down before the tire fails? Most products have a safety margin built in. Products are usually much stronger/better then the recommended value the mfg assigns to it. What would be considered low on a Metzeler....3 lbs off, 4 lbs off?? If a tire fails with that low a difference then its junk to begin with. All that being said Im sure there are thousands of you out there who have had no issues with the 880's and for that im glad but for those like me who have been blessed to not have a rear tire blow out on us when one of those tires decided to toss rubber Ill just stick with my tried and true Avons.

I was thinking about getting a GPS unit for the bike with the ability to move it to the car as needed. The motorcycle specific ones are way out of my price range. I was looking at this one in the link and it looked pretty good at a decent price. Anyone have any pro or con info on this or similar units like the garmin 255? Is it worth the price? Did you put loctite on thise bolts in there? Sounds like one of them backed out. Could be one of those hold down screws. -

Like someone said...prop her up in a chair, leave her a bottle of her favorite beverage, construct a big stuffed dummy and seat it among your parts and make it look like its working on a bike and slip off to MD........ Sorry, no advice on what will happen to you on your return though..... Hope the warden feels better soon.

Hmmm, you know something Gene? Somehow I think you were riding at that early hour and flashed them your belly and all heck broke loose from that point. Maybe they saw that and tore off their clothes then doused themselves with alcohol to burn away the image only it backfired on them.........And no way can the pygmies be blamed for this one......

Maybe its just me but in the past few weeks I have noticed 5 riders, 3 on wings and 2 on harleys with one thing in common: all were wearing flip-flop beach sandals while riding. Are they nuts? One hard stop where you have to put your foot down will rip that piece of rubber right off your foot with your foot possibly added in to that equation. I mean, c'mon...what are you thinking?? And these were not kids..older riders who should know better. Oh yea, the HD riders also had no helmets on. Sigh.........
