Yesterday I washed the bike. Today while hitting the road I found that I could not get the radio to switch stations and the CB would come up as CBer. If I shut the bike down and fiddled with the buttons it would finally go off. If I turned it on I had the same issue again. Last year I had unplugged virtually any connection I came across and cleaned and dialectrically greased them, including the radio connections. I read up on some of the other threads involving this. Looks like it may just be a bad controller. Any thoughts on this??

I have had an intermittent problem with the HID light fron Canadian Cruiser Customizing since Jan. I have been in contact with Scott over there and while he has returned my emails right away there has been no solution. I followed all of his recommendations and initially the problem went away. The other night the light didnt work at 2 am and I depended on my LED driving lights to get home. In our first conversation Scott said its possible the ballast is bad. I raised that issue again with him this time and requested the ballast be replaced under the remaining warranty, something I requested back in Jan. He said its either bad or good and I could send it back to him for testing. He also said the wiring could be pulled too tight. Told him that the shipping cost alone back and forth would almost justify buying a new ballast. I said that it was installed properly, no stretched connections and that I knew what I was doing, in a nutshell. I also said it almost sounds like your trying to not honor the warranty. This was Sat. Like I said, he always responded within a few minutes. Its now 2 days and no response. While I hope I didnt hurt his feelings I dont enjoy going lightless at night, when I do most of my riding.

Tonight as I left work at 2 AM my HID went out. I didnt notice it right away until I hit a real dark stretch of road. It was then I realized that I was riding with only those dreaded LED driving lights. I cant believe how much illumination those LEDs put out. It was almost like riding with a stock headlight. I saw a nice clear band of light in front of me. Those LEDS really lit up the road. As far as the HID headlight goes, this has happened a few times before. I sent Canadian Cruiser Customizing an email and requested a replacement ballast since its still under warranty. Ill see what response I get. I cant have that light go out on me at night any more.

I see where many have upgraded to the Polk speakers. Crutchfield has a great deal on these Boston Acoustic speakers and im wondering if these would be a good fit for the RSV, front and rear. Please let me know what you think..... http://www.crutchfield.com/p_065S45/Boston-Acoustics-S45.html?tp=102

Sat about noon I saw a 2007 balck/blue RSV heading south on A1A along with another bike. Bike looked loaded down so im guessing he was on a trip. This was in the Mayport area of Jacksonville and the rider had on a two tone ballistic jacket with florescent green panels. No, I didnt see what undies he had on.....anyone we know?

Had both knees shot up yesterday with Cortisone. Usually Erin, the PA at the ortho center does a great job injecting me but this time they were so inflamed that she said it was like pushing that 3" needle through leather. ou know its pretty bad when you actually look forward to these shots. Add another Lap Band fill with another needle to the belly and I feel like a human pin cushion. But im good to go for a few months anyway.

I emailed Nanci at the link below after seeing a post in the 2nd gen tech section and inquired about making leather lid covers for the 2nd gens. She asked me if I had an old set to use as a base for making these up she could possibly make some sets. I dont but if anyone does have an old set, scuffed, cracked, or whatever and are willing to send it to her maybe she can start making these up. Thanks, Jeff http://www.acehighleathers.com/

No, not a bike.....another cat. Some of you know that almost all of my dogs over the years have mostly come from rescues. For some reason though, neighbors cats and dogs always find their way to my house. Dragon, one black cat who moved here about 8 years ago with his family, somehow migrated over here and now hes basically our cat. His owners couldnt care less. This was some time ago. Fast forward to now....another neighbor, who also had a black cat, always let Chiclet loose all of the time, winters included. She was a very nasty cat and you couldnt touch her. Shes about 13 years old now. Well, a few weeks ago she started hanging out over in my garage much more then normal. I finally took a good look and realized that shes now blind. I called the neighbor who took her home. Next day I saw her walking in circles in someone elses yard in the pouring rain. I went over to her and she let me pick her up. Long story short: I guess shes mine now. So called owner couldnt give a rats a$$ about her. He had no problem letting her run loose, maybe even hoping she would just die. Got her all cozy in the garage and when it gets cold shes in the spare room. Now im juggling 2 danes and 2 black cats. Shes a sweetheart now. I guess she just needed some TLC, which she never got before. Moral of this story: If you want a pet, make sure you fulfill your obligation to take care of these pets, not foist them on others when they are less then perfect. (a little venting)........

After sloshing around the internet the other day I found this site in Texas who was offering OEM parts for up to 40% off. Prices were a little cheaper then Sports Plaza and Part Shark so I gave them a try. http://www.stadiumyamaha.com/

My Dell PC is now 11 years old and after an upgrade this past summer its finally starting to fail.....a slow death! Every 10 minutes it keeps re-booting all on its own. My daughter happened to call last week about the time this all started and asked if I wanted her 1 year old iMac.....Her husband bought her a newer one. Does a bear poop in the woods!! Long story short, they came by Tue night and swapped it out for me. Man, its great. I just have to adjust my way of thinking now a bit while I get used to this. Took all of 20 seconds for this to fire up where the old PC took at least 2 minutes. Cant believe just how fast this is. Tomorrow I go and buy a wireless router and an apple tv adapter and no more mail in dvd discs from Blockbuster!! Not too sure just how many new tricks this old dog can learn but ill give it a try.....

I know from reading some past posts that there are a few members here who have updated their front suspension. Since ill have my forks apart for polishing soon I figure this would be a good time to do some upgrading. What is the best choice for a modified front suspension: the Racetech Emulators and a better spring or would Progressive springs alone be enough? Does the emulators replace the air bags in the forks? What about seals? Do these kits come with the necessary seals? Any special tecniques needed for this project? Best synthetic fork oil to use? Part #'s would help. Some of the sites only list springs for the earlier tour deluxe models, not the RSV. Thanks....

Been home from work the last 4 days. The right knee that I had surgery on less than 2 years ago is failing. Im scared to get the knee replacement I need. Several friends who have had it are now having scar tissue problems along with mobility issues. Right now riding is out of the question. Had to take 4000 mg of naproxen last friday just to get through the night at work, which is causing some other issues. Thats 3000mg more then recommended. Selling the bike was also a thought, fleeting as it may have been. So, I have some major thinking to do...... Now, where are my drugs......

Anyone have any luck or problems with Pin Wall cycle on Ebay? Sent them 2 emails asking about the condition of a set of upper fork covers before I ordered them and never got a response back. Not a good way to do business in my opinion.

Im looking at adding satellite radio in the next few months. I was looking at the sportster unit. Anyone use this unit? Any mounting issues? Where would be the best place to get a subscription? I heard dealing with Sirius could be a real hassle as their customer service really sux. Any input here would be helpful. Thanks....

Those who know me know that I complain when I recieve bad customer service. I get the chance to praise a company this time. I have been dealing with Competition Accessories for over 10 years now. I found them when I was looking for a new rear master for my 83 1st gen. (yes, I owned one then) They had one in stock for a reasonable price. While they no longer offer OEM parts I have used them numerous times for various items like apparel and tires and other accessories. Each and every time I have recieved great customer and FAST service. Tires usually arrived within 2 days. Last week they had a great deal on closeout helmets and I ordered 2. One came with some minor damage. Called and spoke to Ernie and he checked and found only 2 of the same helmet left. After confirming that it was in good shape he promised to set it by his desk and when the damaged helmet came in he would immediately ship the replacement out. They sent me a return label and I shipped it out on Monday. They recieved it today and Ernie called to say they had it and would have the replacement out today. Now thats a follow-up!! Point im making is I have never ever had anything other then a pleasant experience with them. They even spent time with my wife on the phone when she was buying me my Tourmaster jacket one Christmas, guiding her every step of the way with patience. And no, this isnt a feel good, group hugging, Kumbaya singing session in the making.....just an honest evaluation of a company I have dealt with over the years.

Jrichard rolled up yesterday and spent the night after helping me but the bike back together (new tire). Even had a scary and embarrassing moment when we thought a needle injector for the grease gun snapped off while shooting some Moly 60 into the rear wheel bearings. After carefully prying off the rubber seal and poking through the bearing assembly looking for the needle we discovered that the needle didnt break off, only pushed back into the grease gun. Ok, I was the guilty party...so shoot me. But it was a relief that it didnt fall into the bearing basket. Got the wheel up, put the stock mufflers back on. The open HD muffs were beginning to drive me crazy. Took the bike for a ride and with the stock muffs it sure felt more responsive. Also dumped some star tron gas treatment in and mileage increased by 25 milles on the tank. Got up this Am and we all (J, Jean and myself) headed down to Daytona, riding A1A down to hook up with Coach and his wife from Ohio (Ron and Linda Wise) and their friends from NY, George and Jacki on a HD trike. We headed to US-1 Restaurant (formerly the Sly Fox) for some good eats and some good reminiscing then headed out for different venues. J and I headed to Main Street which was filling up. We parked and started walking down Main St when we saw an RSV. I asked who owned it and whether he was a member here and he looked at me funny and said he remembered me from when I synced his carbs. It was Mainiac. Small world. Gave a card to another RSV rider so maybe he will check out the site. We strolled around a little then J went off to parts unknown and we headed home, back up A1A. Stopped in Flagler Beack for some Working Cow ice cream and enjoyed the ocean view and perfect 80 temps. Couldnt have asked for a nicer day.....too bad, back to work tomorrow.....

Since winter will be upon most of us soon enough I was just wondering on your plans (if any)for the bike this winter. In January, when winter really sets in here, I plan on pulling down the front end and polish the forks and trees. Thats something I have wanted to do for a while. The lower legs look like crap right now. While the fairing is off and if the money holds out I might go ahead and install the new gauge set-up from Ponch. I like the tach in there better then the three gauges originally offered. Also may rebuild my driving lights using LED bulbs instead of the incandescents and rewire the whole thing. Price is a concern though since the cost of each bulb is 112 bucks. Maybe by then I can find a cheaper set. Flanders G2 bars and extended SS throttle cables might make it into the mix this time too. That should just about wrap up the mods to the bike for a long time to come. Yea, righttttt:smile5:
