Floyd, your stock Yuasa battery lasted 5 years, more than most batteries do! I'd stick with the stock Yuasa again.- 9 replies

I use Amsoil and I still change it between 3-4000 miles even though its supposed to be good for 8-10k. From what I was told, when you use synthetics you still need to change the filter at 3-4k to keep the oil clean. Well, in the Florida heat I notice that my shifting gets a bit harder around the 4k mark and for me its a sure sign to change the oil. All I can say is it's cheap insurance. And I wont even get into a debate about the Wal-Mart Super-Tec filters I use......

After 2 months without riding I finally got the bike out on a nice ride tonight. The bike ran perfectly, until I went to make my first turn with the 130 front tire. After running the 150 for years I kinda got used to wrestling the bike into low speed turns. Well, at the first intersection I came to I strong armed the bike into position and almost flopped it. I just cant believe how different and effortless, compared to the 150, the steering has become. I even spooked my wife. She kept asking if I could handle it. I guess it'll take a few days of riding to get used to the new feel. I sure felt like a rank beginner......

I worked for a short time as an installer at a transmission shop. We had an apprentice at the shop look into removing the disinfitinsimulator from the inside of a Ford C-6 tranny. When he came back and said he couldnt find it, I told him to remove the Finnegan pin underneath and it will come out. He finally went to one of the managers there to ask about the part........all we heard was laughter coming from the office.

Brake Pad and Mike, there are quite a few members down in south Fl also. Why dont one of you guys set something up yourselves? Meets and eats can be a simple get together for lunch or an elaborate (?) set-up like the SC one. Just post something at a good area restaurant and you will be surprised just who may show up. I have had them range in attendance from just me to about 35 so it will vary. Just make sure there is a DQ nearby. This one was set up in St Augustine to accomodate some of the more central members and the area is pretty scenic. Since im out of vacation time at work I try to do this around a long weekend.

My 99 RSV is one of the most reliable bikes I have ever owned. Someone on one of the posts said that we tend to get a bit anal with maintaining our bikes and I tend to agree with that statement. Every bike has some issues, some more than others. Most of us put many miles on our bikes and of course they are going to need maintenance. I recently got into a discussion about maintenance issues with a gold wing rider at work. He wondered why I put so much time into my maintenance procedures (the anal thingy). Was there something really that wrong with the RSV's?? I told him that when he takes his wing down to a dealer or shop to have those new tires and brakes installed, do they really go the extra mile to make sure that the bearings are greased, wheels are given a deep clean, like getting into all the nooks and crannies to make sure its clean? Brake fluid is flushed for new fluid? (I usually flush mine at the first sign of the fluid darkening). (the anal thingy again). While said wheel is off does the dealer really look everything over like we would do? My point being...we tend to overdo it sometimes on our bikes but you know what? I know that it will far outlast most other bikes on the road. As far as HD's go, yes, they are a very good bike if you can get past the price. A friend bought a 2004 Ultra with a Screaming Eagle kit on it. Plenty of chrome, power, etc. He also paid 24k for it!!! And now, just 1 year later he was sure glad he had gotten an extended warranty (which also cost him a pretty penny) as his upper end disentigrated on a long ride. And yes, Harley Dealers do give good customer service, but you sure do pay for it!!

Pilot, when you change things such as brake pads there is always a different feel then when it had the old pads in it. Just try the break in procedures and give it at least 100 miles to seat. It sure sounds like there may be some oil in there somewhere. Even those rotors may look even and unridged to the naked eye may have some uneven areas from the old pad wear that you may not be able to see.

Just say when and it will happen........LOL

1BigDog replied to VTirelli's topic in Watering Hole
With all the construction of new homes and office parks the last few years, it has taken away many natural areas for animals to survive in. I hate to see anyone get hurt and im sure not a tree hugger but it stands to reason that if you cut down a wooded area for development then the animals have to go somewhere.
