  1. I set the air mixture to 1.5 -- WAY BETTER -- less hard backfire, much lower idle. I think now time to hook up the carb sync tool and find tune? Never used them before.
  2. ROAR! Holy smokes! She's alive. Now I just can't get the idle to calm down and we got some pretty big back firing going on. She is bench sync'd and I do have the sync tool now but am taking a break for a bit before playing with that. HIGH IDLE, throttle is completely backed out, butterfly valves are completely closed, choke is off. BACKFIRE is pretty loud. ALIVE BUT BACKFIRE HIGH IDLE.mov
  3. I just finished putting them together and will install tomorrow morning. Will let ya know how it goes. why don’t you start a thread on your situation and send a link, would love to dive in and help you in the efforts of learning more.
  4. Two idle jets were 100% clogged. Ended up having a spare body assembly that was in near mint condition. I'll swap that into the bike and assume that the one pilot I can't get out is probably gummed up as well. So I'm REALLY hoping she starts & idles like a gem. Things are soaking right now..
  5. Well guys, I’m as dumb as a peanut lol. I didn’t risk taking apart the body jets, two still won’t come out but daaaamn look at that, horrifyingly gross. explains the idle issue, at least one of the jets was FULLY plugged.
  6. This was the stuck jets plug after about 50km of riding. Is it right? I would love to just leave it there because it's running OK lol
  7. I've also had to back my air mixture screws out like nearly to 5 turns -- which is what it was at when I got the bike. Does that sound... right? And aren't these actually FUEL MIXTURE screws?
  8. OK guys here's a comp video of my Venture running on 2, and now I'm not sure if she is on 3 or 4. But there's an improvement. I had to order some tools to extract the stuck air mixture screw. Guess I'll work on the ATV until that arrives! 2 and 3 cyl comp.mp4
  9. So we can say the spark plug is working, it’s got spark, but the carb is totally messing up and it’s not igniting the cylinder while the other 3 are?
  10. Synchronized? All the butterfly flaps are in perfect sync. Ill have to do another test make sure we’re on 4
  11. Ive gotten it to here adjusting the air mixture screws INWARD they're at about 1.5 turns on 3x of the carbs, but that last carb is just seized up and I have no idea what position it is. Smoke is just from crap on the metal I think, I degreased it. Burning it off. I hope. Adjusting inward.mp4
  12. New plugs! We are at the final stages; I think it's just carb tuning now. I haven't noted that ALL 4 of the air pistons/needle thingies were moving, now all 4 are moving! Also the bike sounds crazier, and yeah kinda like a sewing machine! However I need quick start to start, won't idle -- yet. Any tips? running all 4.mp4
  13. Strange question: some plugs on a spark test seem to fire more often that other cylinders, but they all do spark. that ok?
  14. Haven’t check compression might finally buy a tool for it lol. im hoping now that I have all 4 sparking new plugs will make her happy.
  15. SUCCESS. Well guys, thanks for your helpful tips on this bike. WHAT A FINNICKY MONSTER SHE WAS! By far the most touchy engine I've worked on (5+). Super interesting. I need to get that 4th air mixture screw loosened, she's stuck good, but the other carbs are making up for it. The power is getting there, she will live on!
  16. I think I've already made air mixture screw adjustments to the previous video, cuz she isn't bogging for air anymore.

  18. Still having some trouble. I've replaced 3 coil packs and for sure, I think there has been improvements. But now the battery is dead again and I must wait until morning... sigh. I was concerned about top right coil pack and replaced it, look at the beast go now. It doesn't appear to be 'as frequent' as the other sparks, they're like spark spark spark -- this one is like spark,,,,spark,,,,spark -- that matter?
  19. It's GOTA be running on 3 still. While it was idling I checked exhaust heat and we're indeed back to 1/2 heat on the left side. I'm just gonna replace all the coils and go from there. I think probably at high RPM there is more voltage and is jumping the gap. She has NO PROBLEM at high RPM. I feel like I lose spark at low RPM. Also I totally put a Needle in backwards! Dope! I can only get her started with quick start. I have the idle adjusted to what you can hear. BOGS on throttle rev Once it picks up it definatley revs too high and eventually comes back down If I cover the airbox with my hand for a second she revs up, which I am assuming is right and she is just sucking more gas like a choke I THINK I'M CLOSER!!!!
