  1. No the exhaust does not have to come off if you have a ball allen wrench for the bolts. Remove the cover , nothing will fall out, remove 6 bolts that hold the spring in place ( REPLACE the 6 Bolts with new ones)That is a must. Install bolt springs tighten all 6 bolt s up per specs and but the cover back on with new gasket if you want or use some black silicone. Some oil might come out but if the bike is on the side stand it should just be very little. Thats it. About a 1 hour if you never have worked on a bike before, very easy and that would take care of your slipping clutch. :080402gudl_prv: Bikenut
  2. Sam When I had My 99 venture it was doing the same thingand I got all new disks and plates to put in myself and when I pulled it apart everthing looked good inside. I think it is your clutch spring getting weak so use two on top of each other or but in the Barnet conversion. I have that in my 2006 and I run Ams oil 20/50 with 10% lucus oil stablelizer additive and have 15000 miles on it running it that way with no problems at all. It 's not the oil but it is the spring on your clutch that is going bad or weak on you. I run two springs on my 1986 Venture trike and it pulls hard but it does not slip at all no matter how hard I get on it. The cheapest would be to put the second spring in. Bikenut:080402gudl_prv:
  3. Yes you can lower the front end on 86 thru 93 ventures. You can lower it a little by removing the plastic spacer inside of the forks on top of the spring inside the fork tubes. I just made mine higher by making the spacer bigger to get my trike to ride level. Give it a try and see what it will do for you. Later Bikenut
  4. I have a 86 triked out and I am running two stock springs. It is hard to pull put NO slipping even if I hold wot all the time on the trike. I also pull a trailer most of the time and after putting in the two stock springs one on top of the other My bike does not slip at all. Bikenut
  5. Attached is the tech artical from Yamaha for how to fix the noise in your rear wheel and how to align your rear axle . It also tell how to grease the fingers in your rear wheel the right way. Hope this helps everyone. Don if you want you can add this to your tech section for thr VEnture and the RSTD. Later
  6. I do not know for sure or not but just call them. They are very nice to deal with and I think they are the only ones in the world that does this. When I wanted my 86 done I called them and they said over the phone they could do it. I forgot to say also that they build in a little left in the steering to take the pull out of the trike to the right. My 86 goes down the road straight as a arrow now . no more pull to the right. Give them a call to see and let us know. Bikenut
  7. I just installed the Steerite kit on my 86 trike that I did. It was $950 but it was the best $950 you can spend on a trike to make it steer easy. I drove my 86 for a year before doing the rack kit and before you had to push and pull pretty good on the bars in tight corner but now if you think you want to turn the bike is turning already. Very easy to turn the trike now and I enjoy the ride much more then before without the kit installed. I installed the kit this last winter and have put on about 3000 mile with it and love it. YES it is very exspenive put well worth it in the long run. The way I look at it if you are having trouble turning your trike that is not fun and that is what riding is all about , HAVING FUN. Once you put the rack kit on you will start to have fun with your trike. Just my 2 cents http://www.sidecars.ca/steerite.htm they do a great job and very fast turn around .
  8. go to http://triwing.com/ and on the home page scoll down and you will see a V start Triked out . Looks very nice Bikenut
  9. What I use on my 86 is a convertor I got from Radio shack. It looks like a cassette with a cable coming out of it. I just push the convertor into the cassette player and then hook the cable to my MP3 player and works great. Sometimes I have to hit the switch button to change the tape to play the other way to get the music to be clear but I have been using it for four years and love it. Go to http://www.dl-electronics.com/store/item.php?sku=PH-62050 Check it out.
  10. Jerry You should be very proud for a great job done. That turned out great. Hope to meet up with you some day on the road. Later
  11. I did all the work myself and my nephew did the paint job. it was not hard to do and now the kit is made easer for the newer ventures. I did not install the easysteer but have send a spare triple tree setup up to canada to have the changes made and I will be adding it to the bike in the spring. It did not steer that hard but anything to make it better I am all for it. Hope this helps. Bikenut Wisconsin
  12. Here is the Tri-wing kit I did last year. I just love riding it. Very nice ride and not to bad to put on. If you have any question please let me know Bikenut Wisconsin
  13. I ran my new trike from Tri-wing Ind down to Ark this last spring for the first big trip. On the highway it ran very smooth and for the gas milage I got 35 pulling a bushtec trailer. Not to loaded but I think that was ok . I have changed the exhaust collector and rejeted the bike before that run and I am very happy with the change. I don't have to be concerned with the gas milage because when I built my trike I made a custom spare gas tank that fit just above the rear axle and it holds 4.2 gallons. I have not had to use it yet on the tripe because other people ran out before I had to change my tank over, but it is nice to know it is there. Bikenut:cool10:
  14. That one is very nice and it would be more like 35 to 40000.00 because that is the best one out there. bikenut nice job

  16. the tri-wing kit run 5999.00 and up . I have one of the kits for my 1986 and love it.So far this year I have 6000 miles on it for the first year after I finished it and it works great and handle great to.They are the only onesthat make a kit today for the older ventures. All the rest have discontinued the kits for the venture. good luck on your project bikenut:cool10:
