  1. Here is the tire info that Fred uses on the front of his trike Metzeler Classic BLOCK K Classic tread patterns dedicated to medium-small capacity motorcycles, providing great performance and optimum visual fitment Tire contour with wide curvature for high precision in setting trajectories and providing easy handling Specific tread design with dedicated groove geometry for great water drainage, very high mileage and constant performance Good grip both in dry as well as in wet conditions, with high skid resistance Size Range 400/18 Hope this helps
  2. Fred does not have a car tire on the front of his trike. That tire he uses is for a Motorcycle side car and he gave me all the info so I might try it when I need a new front on my trike. He says it helps the trike to turn and will last for a very long time. Just for your info. Hope this helps
  3. Thanks Steve for the repy. I understand about other making Comments on what to do. Been there myself. I also Understand about the Racking for you would not work if you ever plan to ride without the side car. I was just wondering. We all can learn things every day. Ride Safe Later Bikenut
  4. Steve I know a friend of mine did the rear tire up front on his Honda Goldwing trike and liked it but I have one question for you. Why would you mount the tire backwards when on the front. The rotation of both tires are the same no matter where they are on the bike. Just wondering why you did that. I have a 86 trike I did myself and drove it one year and I know what you mean by steering like a bear but I broke down and spent the $900+ for the re-racking from Canada and that was the best money I could have spent on the bike. Now you can steer it with just your little fingers on the bars. Good luck LAter:mo money: bikenut
  5. JR That top chrome nut between the handlebars is very tight. At least when I did mine I used a 1/2 breaker bar with a small pipe to get mine to come loose. Hope this helps. You can do it. I did. Bikenut
  6. To find the right height windshield for you sit on your bike like driving it. Take a level line from the tip of your nose to the windshield and were that level line hits it is the right Height windsheild for you and only you. I did this with mine and cut it down about one inch and it works great for me. All you need it to just look over the windsheild. Hope this helps. Bikenut:thumbsup2:
  7. Thanks for all the pictures that helps me out very much. The boards are the same ones I got so I have to make one bracket for the shifter . I found one for the brakes side . Thanks Very much for the help Bikenut:bowdown:
  8. I need a picture of the heel toe shift lever and how it mounts with the floor boards installed. Also how the Brake lever looks with the board installed. The bike must have floor boards on it and not the stock pegs. I have both levers but no mounting plates so that is why I need pictures of each so I can mount them on my trike with some idea of how it is to look. Thanks in advance Bikenut
  9. The E3 plug number is E3.36 and that one fits all the Ventures from 1983 up to date. Go to http://www.sparkplugs.com/ for more info This is were I purchase them from for $5.95 each Bikenut:missingtooth:
  10. I have been running E3 plugs for the last year and a half in both my Ventures and love them. $5.??. per plug and seems to start better and run better also.I run them in my trucks also. Just my thoughts As to some test run on TV and Magizines tests they are suppose to be the best out there right now. Who knows right ,everyone has his own Idea of the best. This is mine. Hope it helps Of all the tests I have read they say Best HP, gas Mileage,Torque, and emissions which means burning all the gas that goes into the engine to get the most from it. Bikenut:bang head:
  11. Check to see if all the carbs are all the way into the rubber boots below them. WHen the shop cleaned them they might have not got all of them all the way into the boots. My 86 did the same thing and that is what I found wrong on mine. This will make your bike run lean at idle. Just take plastic side covers off bike and look and see if the top of the boot is all the way up to the flanged out part of each carb. If not loosen the clamps to all four carbs and push carbs back down and tighten the clamps back up and then recheck after you are done to make sure they are right Hope this helps Bikenut Wisconsin
  12. Take off the left side cover so you can see the side of the gas tank. Look for a white plug with 3 wires going in and the out to the Req next to the frame, Take this plug apart and clean all the corrosion and put back together. Also go up by the battery and check the small black ground wire that runs up to the front of the battery and check that plug for corrosion. This one is hard to see but it is there Check your Idle rpm and set it at 1000 this will help your charging system. Replace your trail lights with LED bulbs. You will need two they draw allot of power with the brake on also. Hope this helps. Lets us know what you find out Please
  13. I run Amsoil in everything I have. Even my lawn mowers. Maybe because I sell it but I like the way it has treated me over the past 15 years or more.
  14. I would also say to shim the Needles .010 and that should take care of it. It did on my 06 venture Hope this helped

    How long

I started to ride when I was 12 on a mini bike. My first bike was a 124cc Vespa scooter and rode that for 3 years. Have had bikes ever since I was 12. Now ride 14-18000 miles per year enjoying our country. Hope to maybe see some of you on the road. bikenut:moped:
  16. I am 57 and getting younger every day LOL Have a great safe day everyone Bikenut:grandpa: Notice the glasses
  17. The rear shocks on my trike is from progressive and work very nice. Two shock setup. What kit do you have? Is it a one or two shock setup? if the kit is on a 1st gen it can only be a Mototrike kit, Tri-Wing kit and they might be some others but can't think right now.
  18. I have a 1986 yamaha venture trike that I did about three years ago and I did not disconect the link to the front brakes that was on the bike from the factory. I have had no problems and it stops when you want it to. I also use the stock master that was on the bike for my drums on the trike kit I have drum brakes on the back also. My kit was from Tri-wing Ind. As for the front end racking it, I drove my bike for one year stock steering and had no problems except my arms got very sore after a day of riding in allot of turns. So I sent my triple tree out to Steer-rite to have it rack. It's cost was something like $925.00 back then may be more now but did that make a big difference on how the trike steered and drove. Much easier to turn and when they did mine they also tweeked the triple tree so the trike would not pull to the right like mine did bacause of the slope in the roads. Now the trike run true and straight and I can turn it with my little fingers now. Very nice and well worth the money in the long run. Hope this helps
  19. What do you mean by (2 were required) There is only one stator on the yamaha and all bikes that I know of and worked on. Just wondering:confused24:
  20. Remember to check the small black wire coming off the battery there is a plug up there also. If that plug is bad your rectifier is not gounding right and will charge at a low rate like you have . I had the same thing on my 86 and it took me 5 years to find it but I had a broken ground wire from the battery to the rectifier. before I found it My bike would run about 12.5 at 2500rpm at most and 12.2 at 1000 rpm just sitting there but after I ran a new ground wire to the rectifierI was getting 13.7 at 2500 rpm and 12.9 at 1000 rpm so make sure you look at that wire up by the battery also. It might be the bad one giving you all the problems Just a thought Bikenut:fingers-crossed-emo
  21. Last weekend I got 47.5 on a tankfull running between 50 & 55.That is on my 2006 Venture and My 1986 trike gets 35 mpg on the highway. I use 87 oct and seems to work best for me. I have gone up two main jets and one size on the low speed for starting problem I had . Now it runs just fine. Have done allot of other things to her too. Bikenut:missingtooth:
  22. I love my triwing I did myself Bikenut:banana::banana:
  23. My friends did the same thing and it was the Ignition switch. This is teh first thing to replace or jump to see for sure. canj be done with a short piece of wire with teh tank off to make sure. Bikenut:fingers-crossed-emo:thumbsup2:
  24. I would only plug to get to a shop and then replace the tire fast. Remember you only have two tires under you and the payment does not feel good when you hit it. Bikenut:big-grin-emoticon:
