It's idling at 2500 RPM without the Cap or Filter, with just Filter 4000 then with the Cap on it jumps to 5500 RPM instantly. And I shut er down. What it feels like is the more I Restrict what it can draw through the Intake, the more it's drawing through a Leak somewhere under the Carbs. Only Problem with this theory is the Plugs aren't suggesting a lean mixture. Their just Black, which in my admittedly uneducated Brain is suggesting slightly Rich.

Well, I'm also pretty sure the Cruise Control opens the Butterfly's, and their not moving when it Revs.. It's running better since I Synced and Adjusted the Carbs. But something that uses Vaccum to Rev the Motor if not functioning the way it should.
-
It has something to do with Vaccum, as soon as the Cap Sucks down it Revs up. I feel like it has something to do with the Cruise Control but I disconnected it a Month ago and no change.

Yes lol, I broke down and bought some starting fluid today and she fired off. But still doing the same thing.. Idles super High with the Airbox Cap on, Comes down some with just the filter and actually kinda runs ok with just the Velocity Stack's. But it's doing small Backfire's the whole time, and I know it has to be Lean..

Alright lol, I think I need some time away from this thing.. It is now refusing to start, it won't even sputter. I have brand new Plugs that have a solid Blue spark, new Air Filter, and Pilot Screws are set to Factory Spec, and it's getting fuel. It's almost like when I tighten the Plugs down they stop sparking. I think I need to take a step back from it...

Lol, I definitely Can. When Covid first Hit and I got basically laid off I started going Crazy try to adapt to not working 50 Hours a Week. So I found worn out 74 CB-750 and bought it for 300 bucks. Now I'm kinda addicted to putting Old Bikes back on the Road. I did an 82 XJ-750 Maxim Cafe Racer last year and went through Hell getting the Mack 4 into 1 and Pod's to work right. Now this Venture is giving me all sorts of Problem's..

Welp at least Today wasn't a total loss, It seems to be done Fouling Plugs. Might order a set of those Gauges and see if the Carbs are out of Wack. I don't think that's it, but I'm running out of things to check..
-
Nope no issues, I've never been so let down to find that all my Engine Component's are functioning as they should lol.
-
Ok, it's still Revving but not quite as high. White Smoke is gone Plugs no Longer Fouling. Running Rich though.
-
Ok cool, I'll give it a shot.

Made an interesting discovery.. I was looking over these rubber Tubes that run from my Head to this Black Box under my Battery, pretty confident their part of the YICS System. Anyhow, I was looking them over and turns out several of them have holes. Does anyone have experience with these tubes, and could they be the Source of my High Idle issue?
-
I have a Compression Tester, but I bought it for my XJ-750, and it won't work with the Venture.
-
But I have really no idea, never seen anything like it. So that issue is on the Back Burner, and I'm getting ready to Pull the Heads to find out why a bunch of Oil is finding it's way into the Combustion Chamber's. And if I'm Lucky I'll stumble across what ever is causing the idle issue along the way.

Oh, sorry I thought I responded. I had checked it before I even Posted. I actually have it fully retracted. It's doing this with the Butterflies fully closed, which has me thinking some sort of Vacuum leak that's why I re-seated the Carb Boot's.
-
Honestly I'm about to start looking for a Wrecked Vmax lol.

I got problem's now. It's oil Fouling the Plugs and Stalling out in under 2 Minutes. And it still won't Run with the Airbox lid on. As soon as I put the lid on it instantly Revs to like 5000 RPM without the Carbs opening. I have no idea what's going on here.
-
Copy that, and no it didn't appear to have any damage.. But I plan on ordering a Rebuild kit at some Point either way. I do know that I no longer believe this thing Ran great when the P.O parked it 2 years ago..

Hey guy's, so I pulled my Carbs and was looking them over and discovered that the Pilot Screw on my number 2 Car had been tightened all the way up. I could see the tip of the needle protruding. So I pulled them all cleaned everything then set them at 2 turns out from closed.. Getting ready to reinstall and give the Starter button a little tickle, any Suggestions before I do?? Any advice would be appreciated..

What's up everybody.. so I was replacing the Starter on my 84 and while removing some Radiator Plumbing the metal Tube on the bottom of my Radiator just drops right out when I tried to remove the hose running to it. Apparently there was nothing holding it in, how it was Sealing is beyond me. Now the Tube won't go back in it's hole and I'm stuck. Any ideas are welcome.

Pretty sure it's the Cruise control...
-
I've cleaned off all of the Gasket Sealer or whatever it was the PO put on the Boots, made sure the Seals were seated properly and reinstalled. It was 3am before I got everything back together so the moment of truth is gonna have to wait till Morning.
-
Maybe when the Cap seals its creating a Vacuum that's opening the Diaphragm's... But the throttle is still Closed.. idk I'm confused at this point.
-
Oh, and what's happening is the Motor will be idling ok with no Filter or Cap, but when I drop the Filter on and install the Cap it instantly Revs to like 3500.. If I just put my Hand over the the Intake where the Filter goes it will cause it to Rev up.. Makes absolutely no sense, at least not to me lol.

I'm talking between the Head itself and the Intake Boot. And your Right there was no Gasket's, just little rubber seals. And someone had used some sort of Gasket Sealer at some point. Seals seem to be ok so I'm getting all the old Gasket Sealer off before re-install...
