  1. Looks like my battery is toast....won't even take a charge so......which battery is everyone suggesting now-a-days? Have had good luck with Odyssey. Can anyone tell me which Odyssey model I need for an 06 RSV? Thanks
  2. Although I have been lurking on the site regularly since my bypass surgery in October, I have kept a low profile. Been busy working on the recovery so that I will be able to hold the bike up and to ride in the spring. The recovery is going well....made some significant lifestyle changes....reading food labels now and eating much healthier, have a regular exercise program at home on my treadmill and Boxflex and started back to work this week. Have lost about 15-20 lbs so far - didn't own a scale before my surgery so I don't know what I was at before - and feeling better then I have in many years. This experience has made me really appreciate what medical facilities we have at our disposal, and for me, right here in Kitchener. As I joked, they had me split open like fish and were playing Fussball with my heart. It makes you appreciate everything a little more now. Looking forward to getting on the bike this spring and hopefully I can put some miles on it this season. Hope to see many of you then.
  3. Wouldn't it be interesting if the law was changed so that they seize your phone for, say 24hrs! That would put an end to it.
  4. Thanks everyone for the moral support. I gave up cigarettes over 30 years ago, but I'm a good German boy who likes his breaded pork schnitzel, sauerkraut, pigtails, beer........wait a minute......I'm getting sad here making a list of many things that I have to give up! Oh well, could have been worse. Ride safe everyone.
  5. Thanks everyone. hard to believe that it was only one week ago today that they cracked my chest and played soccer with my heart....well OK, they didn't actually play soccer with it but sometimes it feels like it. One week and I am already home and recovering. It is amazing what modern medicine and the human body are capable of. Can't say enough goods things about the medical staff and the amazing care that I got. When it's all over, you simply leave.....don't even have to sign anywhere.....the staff are seriously understaffed and overworked, but for the most part, its an amazing system. Ride safe everyone.
  6. Rode the ambulance from work Tuesday morning to the local cardiac care hospital , and on Friday had quadruple bypass surgery. Home now for a 6 week recovery.....can't lift anything. Got some awesome scars though!! My riding season is over, Deer season done, bear season done......glad to be alive but man, my freezer was in need of a venison restocking!!
  7. I have been on a mission the last few years looking for a good rain gutter cover. Tried some mesh ones that hinged on the outer edge of the gutter and were shaped in a convex arc. The problem was the angle where the mesh met the shingles created a pinch point for the debris and it blocked the water from coming down. Found some relatively inexpensive vinyl ones at the local Lowes store that seem to work well. They tuck up under the shingles and are full of holes that let the water in, but seem to stop most of the debris. I believe the key to these things working properly is to keep the slope of the roof line, so that the debris will roll/slide down the roof line and off the roof completely. Many of these products sit level on top of the gutter, creating a collection area for the debris. That's just my two cents worth.
  8. Great info, thanks guys.
  9. One of the first things I am going to do in an attempt to reduce/eliminate handlebar vibration is to install bumpers between the lower wind deflectors and the forks. Are these something pre-made that you can buy or are people making their own? Would love to see pics if anyone has any. thanks
  10. Bwahahahahaha....now that's funny.
  11. Unfortunately I haven't had any time to follow-up with this issue, and even sadder is no time to ride. This next month or so will be crazy for me so I'm not sure when I will get to this. My first "fix" will be a carb sync and then perhaps some rubber supports for the lower wind deflectors.
  12. The fob option only came if you ordered the heavy-duty upgraded flux-capacitor though.
  13. OK,......I wanna know who baked the brownies that started this discussion....I want some......
  14. Bobby.....you need help my friend.....LOL!!
  15. No more camping out or getting motel rooms!! Could sleep us all in that shack!!
  16. "could stand yo pick your brain a bit as well".......I don't know.....it's pretty slim pickin's there!! Just ask my wife.
  17. God info guys, thanks. I do have the light bar so will check that first. Carl......might drop by for a visit next week one night....will let you know.
  18. Sometimes I use my own sync tool that has the brand name PCCC on it, and sometimes it's someone else using their own device.
  19. I don't put many miles on the bike in a year and do a carb sync at least once a year.......never found it to be the answer to this problem.
  20. I have had my 2006 for three years now and love it. Since the day I bought it there was always handlebar vibrations at highway speeds.......to the point that the hands would go numb and would have to shake the hand for a few minutes to get the feeling back. I always figured it was mostly from the worn tires....well the other week I had two new Avons put on.....I am still having the same numbing vibrations at highway speeds......assuming the shop balanced and mounted the new tires properly, I should be able to rule out the tires. The vibrations are enough that I can feel them when I put my hand on the gas tank......not enough that I am loosing control or anything. Looking for suggestions as to what the cause is, how to diagnose it and solve the problem. I am relatively mechanical adept, although I have never really torn into the '06 yet.....have most of the day to day tools. Looking for answers. Thanks
  21. I hear you. My wife has worked in property management for the last 20 years and has a long list of horror stories of things like this. It is really sad how some people know how to play the system....and win.
  22. Old worn out Dunlops.
  23. Ya, the old ones were howling like a pack of wolves......really like the difference.
  24. Put two news skins on the bike today...only got to go for a short ride after but what a difference. Feels great. Went with Avons front and back.
  25. Must be gettin' old.......have to P just looking at all that water.
