1984 Wouldn't start

I'd also like to add that if your pulling the carbs loose to cleam them up I'd also buy a new set of stainless steel carburettor bolt kit from eBay, which have an allan key head. You'll find that when your taking the screws out of the carbs the crosshead screws will ruin. -
Hi Dunvilsteev, I notice that you've got a Welsh flag as your icon, so hello from Wales, I live in Llanelli. I've been to Ontario and love it there, The Green Frog Tea Room looks like a lovely place, maybe I'll visit it one day, hopefully.

CLASS unit not working???
woz111 replied to woz111's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I took the compressor and components to bits, cleaned and checked it all. I then took the class unit off and took it all apart again just to make sure that I didn't overlook anything, everything looked as good as new, including the solder joints, so I took the rest apart again to check the buttons etc, looked good, but this time I rubbed a dark pencil (B level) over the carbon pads, put it all together and put ignition on to ACC, IT WORKED,, GREAT. I now have the air suspension working, YAHOO, the bikes almost finished. -
CLASS unit not working???
woz111 replied to woz111's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I've tried it in various combinations, pressing the Auto/Manual first, switch of then back to ACC then front, off/on then rear etc, but nothing. -
I know what you mean about the plastics, I dived right in at the deep end with my 84 Venture Royal, all the plastics were broken, and I do mean All. I used Plastex which has worked quite well, but some of the repairs still keep breaking which pi***s me off as I goto remove the panels again:mad:. Keep up the good work, you'll get there in the end.

If you still got the horns I'll buy them, I'm also after the left grill and left inner plastic panel, two lugs are broken on my one.

Hi all, I can't get the CLASS working on my 1984 Royal, when I put the ignition on ACC, to get the class working, it does a quick scan and then goes onto 0, which is great as no errors, but when I press the Auto/Manual button, nothing? It should obviously go to manual, I have taken the class unit apart as it did have some grubby/sticky buttons and I also checked that the solder joints were good, which they are. I've also checked the valve assembly & pump which all seems good, I took out the connector for the valve assembly pressure sensor and got an error 4 message, put it back in and the error was gone, so I know the CLASS is working, any ideas?

Clutch lever free play problem
woz111 replied to safetyguy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'd bleed the clutch if I were you, I had hell bleeding my clutch as it was spongy as hell. I finally put a tube on the bleed nipple to catch the fluid and could see the air bubbles coming through when I was bleeding the system, after a while I finally got a great clutch, it's now as it should be. -
Hi Boo, that's different to plating, as someone will explain hopefully in a bit. I also used to have an old book on how to electro plate, it involved using a 6 volt battery and a chemical solution.

Hi Juggler. I know what you mean, but you can buy home kits. Chrome plating:- http://cgi.ebay.com/Chrome-plating-kit-w-DVD-and-Book-Electroplating_W0QQitemZ270251505133QQihZ017QQcategoryZ2228QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Zinc plating:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Zinc-plating-Electroplating-car-and-bike-plating-kit_W0QQitemZ260259923783QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item260259923783&_trksid=p3911.m14.l1318 I think these kits are expensive for what they are, I reckon you can build your own home kit for a lot less if you have the know how?

Hi all. I've started this thread as I think a lot of people, me included, would like to start Zinc/Chrome plating but I don't have a clue, so does anyone on this site have the know how? If so please let me/us know. I'd also like information on how to get rust off in a soak bath/tank?

87' royale luggage rack / antenna
woz111 replied to davepa's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Hi Dave. I have an original 1984 Venture Royal trunk rack that I'd be willing to swap for parts if your interested. It's in okay condition, but could do with being re-chromed. I'm in the process of rebuilding a parts bike up and need a good windscreen, left plastic 26H-2835J-01-EM BODY, FRONT LOWER 1 with grill etc. If you have some spare parts and your interested in doing a swap just let me know? -
Hard Start,Rough Idle
woz111 replied to RustyRecycledToy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Get a new pump, they can't be that expensive, can they??? I have seen them 2nd hand on eBay, if you buy 2nd hand you must remember that your buying a pump that's 20+ years, does anyone know if you can get a reconditioned unit? -

If I were you I'd take the pump off altogether, clamp the fuel line from the tank to the pump so you don't waste any gas first. Take the pump apart, bit by bit cleaning or replacing parts as required, if the pump has a rubber diaphragm it may need replacing/repairing? Worth a look as you've nothing to loose, the pump seems to be the fault so I'd have a look at it. -
Fuel Tank Removel?
woz111 replied to Dakota's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I took all the back end of my XVZ1200, just the same as the XVZ1300 and it was easy, like Danob11 says, watch the hoses, air hoses if you have the class as they are difficult to get hold of, or replace if damaged. The back end on my 84 was rotten, so when I took it off I had it sand blasted and powder coated, looks great now:080402gudl_prv:
