Great, just what I need, another reason to look at buying a Voyager next year!

I'm hoping the new version released this year lives up to the hype and is a bit better. I like the idea of toe-warmers on your lines, brilliant. I happen to have a bunch! Like you, I'm not connected to the bike with anything, including my vest. Here's the vest I use/love! Settings from 1-10 and I haven't gone above 4 yet. http://www.techniche-intl.com/content/blogcategory/35/114/

Just bought these, they "look and sound" awesome. $90 including shipping. http://www.vaso.tv/northamerica.html further info. here: http://www.vaso.tv/northamerica.html When they arrive and I test em out, I'll give some feedback on their effectiveness.

Rode the bike the past two days, appears to be working fine. However just to be sure, ordered a spare caliper from Carbon One. Now I can replace and work on mine without losing the precious little riding time remaining in our season. Thanks for all your tips, love this site! Cheers, Erich

First, you and others were bang on about the pistons being twisted, they were. So, I looked closely and could see the pistons were off canter, doh! Applying pressure to the high edge allowed me to get the pistons moving in freely, with just my hands. However, pumping the brake pedal, the pistons do not appear to come out evenly, so I'm thinking there's still an issue. Took the bike for a ride and the rear brake does work fine, but I wonder what bad things are going on...rubbing, over-heating, etc... Carbon One has a spare caliper that I'm going to purchase from him just in case.
-
Yup, got two of em in last night with a C clamp, but not the other two. Then, when pumping the rear brake, the two that I got to go in, didn't come back out. The two that would not retract, did come out more. Trying to envision how you got a 1x2 in there to pry? Assume it was still on the bike for leverage. I'm going to try again tonight to see if I can get them to move. Thanks!
-
I get the overall idea here, I think, but not exactly sure. "Hook back to brake line" I didn't disconnect anything, yet... "use large tool" What large tool? With the master cylinder cover on or off? On, I presume...
-
From what I read of maintenance, these lines are original. I did attach a bleeder hose to the caliper and opened it a bit, the fluid flowed freely, if that means anything.
-
Sooooo, changing the rear brake pads I have discovered the pistons are stuck. Had the rear master cylinder opened and still couldn't push the pistons in, just barely moved. Questions: -Before rebuilding, what if I try a bigger hammer so to speak, and C-clamp these into position? -How hard is it to rebuild? Will I have to bleed the brake? -Saw used rear calipers on Ebay for $50, no idea if the pistons compress. Other thoughts, ideas? At least it's raining so, I am not missing riding today! Cheers,

I bought Maxxis Classics recently and love the look and the ride is fine so far. Searched through here and didn't find any negative feedback on them.........till now! Now ya tell me. Anyway, have about 2k on the front, still haven't had time to change the rear, hopefully this weekend.....long story.

You can check my gallery but, here's my bike with one set of clubs. I picked up this bag trailer from here: http://www.alsmotorcycleaccessories.com/new_golf_rack.html It works great and sure attracts a lot of attention.

Roll-on engine vibration
FutureVentures replied to mp66226's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I went from a V-Star 1100 to this V4 and until I read posts on this site, I felt the same thing. I would be in 4th or 5th, get on the gas an fee that vibration/thump, with disappointing power. Since reading posts here, I down shift 1 or 2 gears and let it REVVVVVVVVVVVVVV. This bike REALLY likes high RPM's. Let it go until it does not go any futher, then shift. After a few times of that, you'll shift better, earlier. Amazing how quick this bike is. Had the joy of DUSTING a HD the other day at a light, he tried to keep/catch up, but couldn't. I let him pass after slowing down from 90 to 50(in a 40, whoops). -
Yeah, the more I look at this bike the more I really like it, a bunch. Has a lot more updated features than our Ventures (no surprise). Only drawback I see is belt vs. shaft drive. This is a frame mounted fairing that I like, you can actually see the triple tree and the forks, unlike Wings. Reading the benefits of frame mounted fairing, sure makes more sense too. Course, I'm not in the market for a couple more years so we'll just have to wait/see what Yamaha does, if anything. Looks like Kawasaki did a ton of research on this, cause they stole the better bits and pieces from other bikes. Oh, rode home from downtown Chicago today on the bike in POURING rain. Yeah, that was fun.
-
Ok, didn't know the RoadGlide is frame mounted, how bout that. Sooo, I'll have to try one of these frame mounted fairing bikes and see how it feels, one day. However, like many of you, I'm waiting on the next Venture. But still, this is one tempting bike....
-
A few of the posts in this thread mentioned the benefits of a frame mounted fairing. Personally, that's one of two things I REALLY dislike about Wings, the skinny bars sticking up through miles of plastic. Reminds me of the new scooters you see these days. (The other thing is foot pegs and limited leg positioning) Maybe it's me but, that's part of a Harley and Venture's appeal, the fork mounted fairing, looks and feels like a motorcycle, not a scooter. Personal preference I spose.

Watch live, my journey around Lake Michigan.
FutureVentures replied to FutureVentures's topic in Watering Hole
Sorry, been busy and haven't been on here in a few days. I put the spot in my cup/cup-holder. I believe it needs a full view of the sky, to triangulate, blah, blah. Dang, still haven't posted about my trip. -

Ok, I'm back home safe and sound. Which, if you were looking at the website, u knew that already! GPS Tracker worked pretty well it looks like, very neat. Just noticed that if you leave the map up, it auto-refreshes with every heartbeat/transmit, cool. The trip was great, more details and photos to come. We NEVER had to don the rain suits, yeah! Staying in Door county last night kept us from riding through hours of IL rain, whew. Bikes performed great. Oh, there were 5 of us: 1 Harley Electra Glide, two Wings of different eras, a Valkrie Interstate and my bike. Oh, one of the riders actually was riding with a broken ankle, pins put in two weeks ago. Guess which bike he was on? Anyways, hope some of you enjoyed the GPS tracking and felt like you were there with us. Once get a bit more settled, I'll post some details and photos. Cheers! -

Ok, it's 3:41, my eyes are almost wide open and soon the throttle will be too! Track me here and I'll try to post too. Cheers all! FYI, going round the lake (lake Michigan) counter-clockwise. TTFN, -
New Tire, slow air leak, ain't one thing....
FutureVentures replied to FutureVentures's topic in Watering Hole
Great tips, all! However, I'm leaving tomorrow on long journey so, removing tire and giving it a bath isn't an option, though I've done that with bicycle tires. I just recently tightened the valve stem a bit more, hope that's it. Otherwise, I'll be keeping a close eye on that sucker and see how it does. As always, THANKS! Great tips/advice. Erich -
If you were working tomorrow, this would be a really great distraction! I'm leaving tomorrow at 0400 CST, going round the lake. AKA, going around Lake Michigan, counter clockwise. We're taking about 3 to 4 days, give or take. So, I purchased this GPS transmitter that will transmit my location during my journey every 10 minutes on the internet, which means you can "track" my travels as I go along. Again, not something to do on a sunny weekend day! I will also attempt to post to this forum via Blackberry, as I did when I purchased the bike and brought it home 1115 miles. Murphy is of course, kicking my arse at the moment and, whaddya know the web tracking website is DOWN. All friggin day. The link below "should" be working by tomorrow morning, so they tell me. http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=07AVc4aiQsNh8cYYCBy7sbYRAizTEtyEW So again, this is kindof experimental but, it has worked previously. Just, don't try now, as the web site is down. C ya!

It's another. Replaced my front tire the other day, it's now a Maxxis Classic WWW, looks beautiful. However, it seems to be losing a bit of air pressure while sitting. Haven't ridden it more than a few miles since replacing. I did install the Ride-on into the tire. Is it common for a new tire to lose air until, I dunno, everything gets more set? I checked the valve stem, it seems secure and I don't hear any air escaping. thoughts?
-
Ok, like many of you, I have the Ride Like a Pro DVD's, they're great. So, I had the opportunity to practice some really tight circles the other day. Finally got to where I was scraping the floorboard on almost the entire circle, at about 5-8mph. Not sure the circumference but dang, it was leaning. Looking waaaaaay back to where I was turning was key. However, I'm MUCH better at left turns/circles than right......the whole dominant eye thing I figure.

Yippee, re tapped the hole in the front caliper, bolt threaded in perfectly! Caliper now rest/floats as it should and there is NO more over-heating! Also drained excess brake fluid from main reservoir. Much better. Thanks to all for the help!
