Ummmm, doesn't delivery from Hooters kinda defeat the primary reason for going.........? The scenery..... Now, if they bring a few friends, well..............

Ok, I just booked a room at the Oberlin with y'all. Have no idea what to expect but, what the heck! Anyone else from Chicago-land heading over there? Looks like it's only a 6-7 hour ride. Have a friend near Cleveland that I might come in a day early to see. Now, guess I better queue up a couple projects to get done there, eh? Cheers.

Ok so, the internet can take you some amazing places if you keep following links. Here's a modification on the Carver that REALLY flies! http://www.pal-v.com/ Well, once it's in production it will. Now this would be a great way to get away from those homicidal cagers. If you haven't seen the carver, here's there link. A great option for those inclement days. Albeit a pit pricey, currently (http://www.carver-worldwide.com/SubItem/SubItem.asp?S_ID=28&nc=1)

Ron's comments above, so well restated below: He is an ordinary and yet an extraordinary human being a person who offered some of his life's most vital years in the service of his country, and who sacrificed his ambitions so others would not have to sacrifice theirs. Semper Fidelis.

As a former (never ex) Marine, I REALLY appreciate, more than words can say, a simple thank you for my service. Though I don't expect it, I cherish it. On that note, thank you to all of my brothers (and sisters) that served. I look at my annual SSN earnings statement and laugh, when I see what I earned in 1984-1991 as an enlisted Marine. Yet, those were some of the best years of my life, I got more than I gave: lifelong friends, love of country, esprit de corps, sense of purpose, willingness to sacrifice and the pride of accomplishment. Cheers to all! Is it spring yet?

Yet another possible bailout, due to Mgmt. mis-management? Say it ain't so. Snarley Bill, it ain't your fault: You "get tired of people telling me it's my fault the economies screwed up" You took a job that was offered and worked your A off apparently, most people can't find fault with that. At the same time, I spent a year working for the Teamsters part time (USMC full time) and I could NOT believe the waste, the sloth, the indifference to success. Ten guys to do a 3 man job, then we sat for 45 minutes with nothing to do every hour, because our jobs were protected. Like a forest, it's often best to let it burn to the ground and let the new growth start. If we keep rewarding stupidity: AIG, Freedie Mac, Countrywide, GM...the stupidity will continue. I am a firm believer in competition, like survival of the fittest, weeding out the weak, allowing the strong, the smart, to survive. If we keep bailing out the weak and the stupid, that's all we'll end up with. We didn't bail out the Buggy whip makers, did we? Ya know, I think many of us are getting angry cause, guess what, we can't ride! 27 degrees and raining when I awoke this morning AND, it isn't winter yet. Well, time for another beer!

Anyone have a spare eyebrow (think that's what they're called) for the rear blinker? Guess I backed the bike up into the garage wall and the little sucker later jettisoned itself somewhere.... Poor thing, looks like it's winking all the time now.

OMG, #1 of 1500 RSV 2000MM on Ebay, only 7,100 miles!
FutureVentures replied to FutureVentures's topic in Watering Hole
I dunno, having lived in HI for a few years, I know it's hot there. Tan seats don't get as fryer hot in the sun as black does. Personal pref. thing, I like it better than black. -

Yeah, $15k is insane. I paid just over half that for mine, wouldn't pay more. I liked the color scheme more than ANY of the others. I am constantly getting comments, inquires and praise about the bike. Tan seats and the retro look are hard to beat, IMO. Still, it would be dang cool to have the #1...... -

Oh man, I'm soooo jealous. Now I wish I had waited to buy my 2K MM, #515 model. This bike is mint, has only 7,141 miles and is the 1st of only 1500 of these beauties made! Ironically, it's in the same neighborhood where I bought and rode mine home from, Baton Rouge LA. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110308501978&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ASS%3AUS%3A1123&viewitem= -
Quick Release saddlebags
FutureVentures replied to 2Whlsrollin's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Nope, didn't have that problem. They all went in very nicely. Pretty slick little upgrade I have to say. Now, when the wife has her Bunko friends over next week, I can hide in the garage, pop off the saddle bags and clean her up nicely! Hmmm, might even lower the front end then too, anything to avoid 15 screaming women.... -

Ya know, sometimes I get tired of reliving my tag line: "Life is tough, it's tougher when you're stupid". So, I'm thinking about all your suggestions on how to remove these allen bolts and then, bing, I remember that I had purchased several sets of screw extractors, on a whim, for 2008 Christmas gifts! After 15 minutes of hunting to relocate this little tool, it took me all of 10 minutes to remove all 3 stripped allen bolts. Great little tool, worked as advertised. Here's the link: http://www.getgrabit.com/Default.asp?bhcp=1 FYI, I only paid about $10 per set, but I don't remember where/how I found them, probably from the TV ad. Thanks for all your tips! I installed the remaining new quick release bolts, they are awesome. -
Couldn't agree more! Riding home without a jacket in November in Northern IL, ya gotta love that!

Quick Release saddlebags
FutureVentures replied to 2Whlsrollin's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yeah, I like that Idea. Recommendation on what to use to cut said slit? Also to be clear, it's the OLD allen bolts still in the left bag that are giving me the trouble, not the new quick-release. The new ones work great on the right bag. -

Yeah, they aren't completely stripped yet so, I'm hoping a slightly larger size might do the trick, maybe. So, if I grind off the head, then what? Drill it out? I tried the vice grips but yup, because it's rounded, can't get a good bit on it, dang it. -

First, the quick releases are awesome. That's the good news. They worked great on the right saddle bag, no problema whatsover. However on the 2nd saddlebag, I can't get the screws out of the bag! They're stripping. Even though I'm using the same allen wrench I used on the other side. Tried spraying some WD-40, to no avail. Any ideas? -
This was a great ride, one I'll definitely do again. People were lining the streets, waving flags, thumbs up, clapping. Firetrucks at almost every station had their ladders suspended over the road, US Flag hanging below. The firefighters seemed to have this very organized. All lights/intersections were blocked, only had to stop for the occasional slinky effect. Saw a lot of great bikes including one other 2000 MM edition, #245 I think. Also saw about 3 or 4 other Ventures, one black beauty with quad pipes bent down, sounded great. There were a lot of Victory Visions's (Ugly, IMO) and a bunch of the cruisers, which are quite nice. Was great to be in the company of so many other Marines too. From my GPS transmitter, here's the approximate route we went on: http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=07AVc4aiQsNh8cYYCBy7sbYRAizTEtyEW Rode in today too! Love these Indian summers!

Calling all riders in Northern IL, looks like a great ride for a great cause. http://www.heartofamarine.org/ This will be my first time doing this ride, can't wait. Weather looks..........decent. "The Heart Of A Marine Foundation supports military personnel from all branches of the United States Armed Forces including veterans and their families." Hope to see a few other Ventures out there! Very nice, just ordered a set myself. Thanks! -
Wanting new tires, with WWW, I purchased the tire changer made by Harbor Freight, online for $75, including cycle adaptor. Once we figured out how to use it, breaking the bead was a piece of cake! Then removing and reinstalling was surprisingly easy. Used the slime stuff to auto balance, works great.

After 3 trips in/out of Menards, I confirmed and purchased, then used a 27mm. Not cheap either.
