Awesome. Pretty funny, we do that trip every year, weekend after Labor Day and we have the same bikes! Two Harley's, one Goldwing and my Venture. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/10/08/28fe187f3f655b3e345819da00de82d2.jpg

Dang, look what popped out of my wheel!
FutureVentures replied to FutureVentures's topic in Watering Hole
So, I didn't wanna ride recalled tires anymore. Got the Dunlop 404's WWW and who, they're nice. Bike road a lot different. Hard to explain but in turns, seemed like it wanted to turn more than the other tires. It really sets a groove and keeps it. I much prefer these over the Maxxis Classics. -
Dang, look what popped out of my wheel!
FutureVentures replied to FutureVentures's topic in Watering Hole
Well this is very upsetting. On top of my valve stem ejecting itself onto my garage floor, my tires are no longer made. Since I'll have to pop the tire to replace the valve stem I thought I should replace it. Calling everywhere to find the tire and come to find out that Maxxis no longer even makes street tires. Apparently they were getting sued doe to wrecks caused by their tires! Well maybe this is a blessing in disguise, but damn, I like those tires!!! Ok, any WhiteWall tire recommendations? -
So, preparing for a nice 90 minute ride to camp, checked the air pressure on the front and after removing the tire gauge, whoosh! All the air came rushing out. Much to my dismay, the whole stem came out too. Guess it's time to replace the whole valve stem with something other than rubber? Glad this happened in the garage though and not on the road.

"Are the brackets sold on the classifieds page still being made?" Negativo when I asked the seller a few weeks ago, he isn't making them anymore.

Getting bike from Ohio to Florida. ??
FutureVentures replied to back in the saddle 2's topic in Watering Hole
I too bought my beauty online, from a guy on this site. I flew to Baton Rouge LA and rode back to Chicagoland in two days, through tornadoes no less. You didn't say where in Ohio but, my ride was about 1,000 miles and I did it in two days with 750 miles on the last day, could have ridden more it was so comfy. So you don't need extra time, leave Fri. evening, ride back sat/sun, heck it's downhill! Oh, ahem, based on my own personal adventure, be sure to check the tires' pressure before heading out for 1,000 miles. These bikes are big and handle so much better when the tires are at the right level. You could send the other stuff via cargo a lot cheaper than a bike, I'm guessing. Good luck. -
Raod King Muffler Question
FutureVentures replied to raceman62race's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
So a friend of mine had given me a set of Road King pipes. I finally got around to installing them today, took some time and creativity for certain. If I ever have to remove them, that'll be a problem cause it took some banging to get em on. Here's a youtube link of the before and after. I took it for a ride just now and I really like it, much throatier sound, not too loud. It almost stalled with stock pipes, as it wasn't warmed up, fyi. Before: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00Yf5mL0ghI]YouTube - Venture before Harley pipes[/ame] After: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iDCYSWoheo]YouTube - Harley pipes on my venture[/ame] In any case, so far, so good. -
Anyone know anything about Miata's?
FutureVentures replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Watering Hole
My wife has a red '04 Miata and she loves it. I love to drive it too, when she lets me! It's the manual and I would recommend that over the auto., it's a sporty lil car. Loves to take turns with the tail end sliding nicely around, in control. There's almost no body lean through the tightest of turns. But I swear, I feel less visible in that then I do on my bike, as it's so friggin low to the ground. Pull up next to a semi truck and you feel like a bug on the ground. She got hers for $6k with about 75k miles on it from a neighbor. Also has the hard top which is nice when it's colder. Here's a pic of our two toys sharing a room together. The license plate is a play on her name, Catherine and her daughter, Melody. -
GoPro makes by far the best cameras for recording POV videos. I've seen em used on windsurfers, surfing, snowboarding and biking. They are very functional and have HD now too. Dang, now you got me wanting to get one too!

Patriot Guard Riders are going to be in a big demand now
FutureVentures replied to polecat54's topic in Watering Hole
I just joined PGR but based on what I see on their website, they also support "feel good missions", at least in WI. On Mar 5 they are supporting a send off for the 432nd Civil Affairs Batallion in Green Bay, for example. This is their site: http://www.patriotguard-wi.org/ Note trying to slight warriorswatch, just wanted to mention what I saw recently online. -
Patriot Guard Riders are going to be in a big demand now
FutureVentures replied to polecat54's topic in Watering Hole
Agree with your concept but, it's not "the law" the Supreme Court interpreted in this case, it's the Constitution. Or am I wrong, again? Much as these people disgust me, I think the Court was right in this case... These demented people make their living and support their "church" by suing guys like us that threaten or abuse them when they are protesting. They truly are disturbed, misguided people. I hope they either wake up, or go to Ghana and like former idiots, ingest some nice purple kool-aid and check out forever. -

FutureVentures replied to polecat54's topic in Watering Hole
As a veteran of the Marine Corps and Air National Guard, it was my duty to "support and defend" our Constitution. I think these "people" and their activities are disgusting and demented, it makes me sick. But I do agree with free speech and the more we limit, the less free we are. That being said, I just signed up for Patriot Guard Riders, shoulda done this a long time ago. I wonder how some of these freaks would feel if a bunch of bikers showed up and protested at their families' funerals? But I couldn't demean myself to stoop to their level, tempting as it is.... -
Anyone we know riding here in Congresswoman Giffords procession to the airport? http://news.yahoo.com/nphotos/slideshow/photo//110121/480/urn_publicid_ap_org4516a39988f9421db557a4d7d56dec10/#photoViewer=/110121/480/urn_publicid_ap_org4516a39988f9421db557a4d7d56dec10

Get a pair of these, or similar and it makes a world of difference. http://www.activheat.com/index_files/weightlessgloveliners.htm Wear under gauntlets or similar and your fingers will be toasty. They also sell a heated vest that works great. Like you I ride in before sunrise and it's cold. Biggest problem is getting up/ready in time to don all the dang extra gear. Often, I wimp out and opt for the heated seats of my Dodge Ram. Or since my ride is about 12 miles, I sometimes just tough it out and arrive colder.

Kinda too close to the inside double yellow lines if ya ask me... I'd guess with the lean in, he's a bit into oncoming traffic. Either way, that's an awesome pic with the blown kiss.
