  1. One question I would have is: where are the heads of those bolts? and another: what were they doing inn the middle drive area for a clutch issue?
  2. Put the carbs in place so that they are still half hanging out of position, so just safely kind of sitting there ready to go further into the bike. Now hook the cables being sure that the return cable is on the inside of the rod with the plastic bushing on it. Once hooked, move the carbs in place.
  3. I can hear it now already: Didn't I tell you to go fishing,,,, annnnd what did you bring me???? NOTHING???? Just where did you go?? What WERE you doing???
  4. If it runs awesome,,,, then,,, if it ain't broke, why fix it.
  5. Be allowed to go fishing??? or told to go fishing!!
  6. The way I found this out and how nicely it works is to travel down the road using the right hand track. Nice to do this with no traffic. As you travel, sit straight up in the seat, don't move one way or the other, then lightly push on the left handle bar, just lightly and only for less than a second. See what happens. Just use your fingers, not the full hand.
  7. Do you have the RR replaced yet? If not then you are running on low voltage and that will cause low spark. If you haven't adjusted the carbs after cleaning them then it's high time that gets done,,, a carb sync and idle air adjustmnet.
  8. After all the work you put into it, would you want to look back and say: we should have!! Don't cheap out now, go the distance!! Of course it depends on whether you plan to keep it or sell it. Sometimes heritage gets in the way.
  9. Could be somebody dropped them on the floor before you laid hands on them. Never know.
  10. Clean is the operative word here, including the edges of the cracks. Also all the shine needs to be removed for anything to work well. Better to overdo the cleaning rather than being 'cheap' with it.
  11. Looks about right. Block of wood to find a fulcrum and a pry bar of sorts.
  12. Try some non-chlorinated brake cleaner on a rag.
  13. Doesn't take a lot to cause lots of corrosion. Takes very little soda to correct and make sure.
  14. You have tooo much time on your hands!!
  15. Don't have ANY idea who you might be referring to, but I will check with @saddlebum later today to discuss what can be done about the nastiness coming from southern corners. I'm sure he will get back to you, so get ready to read, grab a beer, a foot long stogy, couple of hot dogs and a pillow.
  16. Couldn't have said any better,,,,, maybe shorter with less words,,, but that's just me!!! Thanks Bum.
  17. Might I suggest that you flood the battery compartment with lots of baking soda?
  18. OOOOOH,,, that's easy for some of us!!
  19. Don't know how to take a selfie yet? Nice to see some faces that are happy.
  20. Kill switch?
  21. Some of us think that the fuel lines tend to break down on the inside due to ageing and ethanol, you might think about changing those out.
  22. Is yarning the same as BSing? Welcome back!!
  23. Left side comes off by blowing air between the grip and the bar,,,,,, usually works anyhow. When you adjust the throttle cables you need to shorten the jacket, so the outer part of the cable, which means that the thumb adjuster will screw onto the cable jacket, this then lengthens the amount of slack the cable has available.
