Spray some carb cleaner in the tank. Maybe a whole can to half tank. It will help clean out any possible dirt as well as raise the volatility of the fuel. Worth a try maybe.
That just goes to show that I can be gullible, not often mind you, but there are weak spots. Hope your back heals good and well and the pain doesn't drop to lower levels.
You almost had me thinking this was true story,,, until,,, the 10mm socket evidence, then the whole story fell apart,,,, they never, ever, never get found!!
Now if I were the one to get this lightbar I would be tempted to go out and purchase a scooter to put it on. Or maybe modify the Spyder or the 86 I have presently in stock. My wife says,, NO!!!
If you have a bad headgasket take the rad cap off and see if the coolant bubbles at all. If it does, it's a head gasket.
Another thought: when seating the carbs in their boots often times one will jump back out when seating another. Check and re-check to see that they are all seated firmly and properly.
You'll need to remove the fuel tank I think, the loosen the clamps holding the carbs to the boots, then it takes a bit of pressure to pop them out of the boots one at a time. A curved pry bar would be helpful in this case. Do not loosen the boots from the intakes, they should stay put so that the carbs can be pried off. Make sure all the fuel lines and cables are off. All 4 carbs come off as one unit.
I think that might be right.
You should probably post this in the Watering hole. Not too many will see it in this forum.
And welcome, I'm sure there will be lots of help available and there are lots of articles to glean from.
First you need to do a compression check. Throttle wide open on all cylinders.
You could also spray some WD40, or carb cleaner, or brake clean into the carbs to see if that changes anything.
get back to us.
There are somethings that can be done to lower the seat height depending on the year, 1st gen, or 2nd gen. Sometimes the front can be lower as well as the rear, and a person could take some foam out of the seat cushion as well. I do think it would be trial and error somewhat. Hopefully someone as tall as you might have some real life ideas.
Got the same unit sitting in my sons shop, been there for about 4-5 years now. Also have a 12hp and its' still running somewhat. Used mine for about 20 years before I bought a Deere F525, and now am onto a Country Clipper, the best one yet. It's a relic alright, and a good workhorse.
There is a knuckle on that shaft on the other side of the cover bearing, so with no bearing to hold things in place the shaft will wiggle wherever it wants and seems to be broke.
