Thanks again all!! I don't speak much, more recently than past. But I do usually listen pretty good. The $12.00 is the least of the subscriptions that I pay for rags and such. I DO NOT GET AS MUCH INFORMATION, NOT TO MENTION IT IS NOT SEARCHABLE. Try to go back and remember which issue you saw the little blurb about the some mod under the fairing with no information about removing the outer fairing. Just that is worth the bucks. I will have to ride up to one of the GA maint. days. Thanks again for all the info and interesting reads. Keep it coming!!

Inexpensive (Cheap) XM Radio? Roady2 v. RoadyXT?

Here is a link to install a splitter into system and you will not need to slice or dice. All you will need is a cord to go from the unit to the splitter. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3905 Easy to split the fairing just be careful when you remove the chrome strip as you will break the tabs if you do not pull it straight up. -
Is that Shank-N-Bake?

I don't converse here much but have to chime in on this one, as this is a discussion that Nan and I have had since I began riding again. She has been on the bike with me some but since she went to the hospital to visit a friend that was t-boned she will have nothing to do with it. I have been down, but I have never had a bad injury, cuts and scratches mainly. I have heard, on here and talking with other riding friends about "THE BIG ONE" being inevitable, well folks this ain't NASCAR, sorry, I know some of us ride like it is. And that is my point. I take chances alone on the bike that I will not take with her on the bike. But, I also don't go out looking for the worst to happen. I try to keep my distance and let the cagers have their room. I know that they WILL NOT SEE ME so I have to see them. Nan and I have had this same discussion many times and she still choose not to ride. I believe in my God and that he has a plan for me, her and our children. I also believe that plan includes an end time and date, when, is a matter of a matter of fact, how I end is a circumstance of that plan. I will go HOME when he said. Whether I go on the bike or drooling in the bed next to my wife is what it is. I have no fear of riding and wrecking, I have fear of not living my life to meat my FATHERS expectations of me, HE said not to fear but to trust in HIM for all. If we are faithful and do the few simple things that HE asks, HE will meet ALL our needs. Thanks for the ear, I just needed another place to vent my frustration over this topic, hope it helps someone.

" Missionary Rider Hit the limiter and you'll get the idea Find a good straight-a-way from a stop sign and wind it in third gear until you feel it "sag." That's the rev limiter. You won't hurt it - though you might be shocked how fast it will run in third gear. That will give you an idea of what "Wind it" means. " Ditto, Rev'd mine out in 2nd yesterday @ 67 mph, bags loaded and 230 lbs.

I grew up in the Scranton area and from what I remember all the good eats are quite away off the interstate. If you continue north for about an hour to Hallstead/Greatbend there is pretty good spot right off the interstate call Dobb's Country Kitchen. You would get off and turn left go to the "T" and it will be across the road to the left (if its still there!) Good diner food the Beaver next door is pretty good also. http://maps.google.com/maps/place?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=dobbs+hallstead+pa&fb=1&gl=us&hq=dobbs&hnear=hallstead+pa&cid=4078267871682015654 http://www.yelp.com/biz/dobbs-country-kitchen-hallstead

HELP!! I need some educated information......

Welcome. I think that the Venture is a great choice Here is the page from Star Motorcycles that will list all the specs. http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/products/modelspecs/586/0/specs.aspx I have a 2006 not the "S" but pretty much the same. As for the ride, wonderful!!!!! Stock pillow seat is great. Lots of room for gear for your trip. depending on your riding style I know of 32 - 42 MPG I am 220 and average 36 with a heavy throttle hand. One thing to know about this bike is that it is a V4, if you find on that you can test ride you will want to rev it up before shifting. I know that when I first rode the bike, I thought that it was underpowered for its size. This bike will easily stand cruising at 65 in 5th gear. There are others on this site that have put many more miles on theirs and can say more. I have owned Harley's and others and this is the most comfortable for me. -
I knew there was a good post on this. Check this out, these are the most popular options and the instructions. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16934

kkent66 welcome, some have used various brands including Pyle and even some from wally world, thing to remember is to make sure that the are marine grade speaker cones. Something else to consider are backing cones. These cones do not allow the air pressure created by the speaker vibration to escape out the back where you are not, and project all the sound toward you. Again, welcome

Dont go by what you see on cars. What you actually see is not always legal to begin with.

Who will / will not allow their kids to have a motorcycle?
mike_kelly_68 replied to Sunrayman's topic in Watering Hole
I have to agree with those who have said to start them off road and have them take the MSC. I began riding at the ripe old age of 6 years old when my father came home with a mini bike. I learned early (that day) how to dump a bike because insisted to ride with the throttle wired open. The most I ever learned was at the MSC when I was in the Navy in my 20's (Had to get legal to ride to work) I took a break for a few years as my wife does not (hates to) ride. Started to ride again about 2 years ago and did not realize how much I forgot. I will be taking the MSC and the ARC a few months later. Many states require new riders to take a MSC before getting the riders endorsement. Needless to say my 8 year old son has already said that he WILL ride when he is sixteen, he found out that you can ride at 16 in FL with a restricted solo permit. It is time to get him the mini bike or mini dirt bike. Start him early but I don't want him to have to learn how to dump a bike the first time he rides. Pray for him. -

Great story, we need to be as proud of our soldiers, sailors and airmen, as they are of each other.

Rod, Sounds like the ignition switch to me. Having multiple electrical problems that would be the logical place to start and I have seen a few times on the site where people have had odd troubles caused by a faulty key switch. Anyhow if I am confused I got it back to the top of the list so one of the gurus might see it.
