  1. Hi there Tyler. I have both the Royal Star Venture as well as the older Royal Star Tour Classic II 1998. Yamaha made the older Royal Stars with 64 HP motor from 1996 to 2001. In the meantime though they introduced the "Big Queen" the Venture the year 1999 and produced it through 2013. The Venture had the same engine but with bigger carbs and different cams as well as counterbalancer with an output somewhere around 104 HP. In 2005 they introduced the Royal Star Tour DeLux that has the same V4 engine as the Venture and produced it through 2009. Now all of these bikes have ample power and even though the older Royal Stars from 1996 to 2001 have less horsepower and lack of counter balancer then the power is quite sufficient and the lack of a counter balancer does not give any kind of shake. It is actually very smooth running engine. By reading through your post I would suggest that you look for a Tour Delux with low mileage. They are easier to use for around town riding but have ample power and comfort for long distance riding. The Venture is quite top heavy and one has to show it a little respect when coming to a stop and not as nimble for town riding. But one does get used to it and I personally use my Venture for town riding all the time without any problems. You should be able to find a good bike for the following amount based on my research on the internet but I follow these prices pretty much from month to month. The price is based on the oldest year and then goes up. And of cause every once in a while there is a bike for a lower price and a good deal to be made and some are more pricier: Royal Star 1996 to 2001: From around 2.500 Royal Star Tour DeLux 2005 to 2009: From around 4.000 US$ Royal Star Venture 1999 to 2013: From around 4.000 US$ Good luck with your search

  3. What Charles said ! Butt ugly are the exact words that came to my mind. The first one is sweet looking though even though I would never buy an Indian due to heat problems and other things many owners complain about. For 30K it better be bullet proof !

  8. Tell us something we don´t already know Steve
  9. Well I know for sure that when I am in the US I am known to have a "Samuel" disorder at least. Go figure
  10. It has been done to the older Stars from 1996 to 2001. But doesn´t the 2006 Tour DeLuxe have the same engine and the carb setup as the Venture ?
  11. Thanks for posting Steve. Man if I was living in the US you could surely count me in. I will only stop until the 3rd. of June when attending Freebirds Maintenance Day so I will have to try to hit this one another time. Could you maybe ask them to move the dates till August 25th. so I can attend ? I am sure they are understanding people
  12. Well I would not worry about getting a Yamaha Royal Star engine with unknown past. Like both me and Cowpuc said this is practically unheard of. My view is that as long as you get a motor that has less than 50.000 miles on it then I would not worry about a thing. And even with more miles on it I would not worry. But of cause try to find one with low miles and I am sure you will be fine.
  13. Larry. I must say that I admire your dedication and warm thoughts towards these children. I thought this over a little bit and have a suggestion. I have no idea if this would work out but I think it would be worth trying. I would get in contact with someone in the upper steps of the ladder at House Of Color that is a well known supplier of Candy colors. Tell them your story and your thoughts and see if they would like to support you in your project by for example supplying the material needed and even maybe helping finding a painter that would be willing to donate his work to your noble cause. Let me know if I can contribute by donation to your project - I would sincerely want to help in any way I can. Warmest regards from Iceland, Jonas / StarFan
  14. Well that one is new to me ! To aquire a used motor you could contact Pinwall Cycles. They usually have them in stock. If you on the other hand have time and you feel like turning a wrench I would look into buying a damaged insurance bike with cosmetic damages. Tear the motor out and what else you need and sell the rest. You could even have the shop tear the motor out to since it is not time consuming and pretty basic. My guess is that you would pretty much cover all your expenses even though it will require a little work and some patience while selling all the other parts. Just my ten cents worth and the way I would go myself.
  15. 94 years old ? Get out of here !
  16. Great looking Slingshot. I have been thinking about getting one but am gonna wait a little and see how they develope in the coming year (s). Has anybody heard if Polaris has any thoughts about offering the Slingshot with an automatic transmission ?
  17. Wow,,That is some great work you and your friends have done. OUTSTANDING ! Congrats !
  18. I´m gonna let one weekend at Big Toms be sufficient for the crazy Aussies. Take it one step at a time. Look forward meeting you both Friendly regards, Jonas/StarFan
  19. The lights I got on eBay. Here is a Item number: 251943096915 Just put the number in the search tab and it will take you to the item page. The seller is Optimal-products. You can visit his eBay store and see all the options he has since these lights come in different designs. They also have all kinds of other Yamaha lighting. Note though, like stated before, that these are open on the front. I had a glass maker cut out a round glass that I installed and fastened with silicone to make the light weather proof. Hope this helps Bubber. Friendly regards, Jonas / StarFan
  20.  But they are words of truth and carefully spoken. PUC - YOU AR DA MAN !!!!!!!!
  21. Thank you all for your nice comments - that is inspiring to say the least. Kristjan is a good man and a dear friend. I would do this for him again if needed. Actually the hardest part was putting these dang stripes on. Had to do each one by hand and it was a tedious work since there are three of them in a row and all had to be placed separately. I was halfway into the second day before I was satisfied. Found a trick though how to have them the same on both sides of the bike / parts,,,,,,,but that is a secret,,,,,,,,,,,
  22. Hi there Carl. Coming to Freebirds in May. And also to Big Toms in August. Will you be there ? Still thinking if I will allow the hug,,,,,,
  23. Managed to sneak home from Norway last weekend to finish putting back together my friends bike that I have been rebuilding this winter. Been a long process but finally done. Well, Kristjan the owner is at least happy so I guess I did something right. Following was done and I am sure there are a lot of things I have forgotten. 1.Went through all the electrical wiring and upgraded as needed like Ignition bypass, horn harness and back brake light harness, soldered shady connections and so forth. 2. Changed bearings and seals in swing arm 3. Upgraded clutch with a stronger spring and full disk. 4. Shimmed the carb needles and synchronized the carbs. 5. Changed fluids - Forks, radiator, engine oil, rear drive - Brakes and clutch were good. 6. dded all kinds of Chrome Kristjan had bought in the US last year 7. Custom mods - Front fender rail w/lights, Moved driving lights forward, Custom Carb/cylinder gap covers w/lights, Connection box behind license plate, Rear brake, turn and park lights back. 8. Corbin seats w/carbon fiber look. 9. New Paint w/scratch resistant clear coat and stripes. and the list goes on and on,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Kristjan%20Ben%20Eggertsson%20Midnight%20Venture%202003/Under%20construction_zpszbldk5ed.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Kristjan%20Ben%20Eggertsson%20Midnight%20Venture%202003/1%20Yamaha%20before_zpsorgsa81u.png http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Kristjan%20Ben%20Eggertsson%20Midnight%20Venture%202003/SAM_3229_zpslusyeh4z.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Kristjan%20Ben%20Eggertsson%20Midnight%20Venture%202003/SAM_3224_zpssgrlcu2g.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Kristjan%20Ben%20Eggertsson%20Midnight%20Venture%202003/SAM_3220_zpsvh09n9dz.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Kristjan%20Ben%20Eggertsson%20Midnight%20Venture%202003/SAM_3217_zpsrc5umhuw.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Kristjan%20Ben%20Eggertsson%20Midnight%20Venture%202003/SAM_3223_zpsjwlz1bmv.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Kristjan%20Ben%20Eggertsson%20Midnight%20Venture%202003/SAM_3222_zps1htztjmf.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Kristjan%20Ben%20Eggertsson%20Midnight%20Venture%202003/SAM_3225_zpso9lljcti.jpg
  24. Greetings John. I don´t think that the original floorboards fit your bike if your bike has the pegs. At least the Parts diagram shows different parts. Also I think the frame that is welded to the bike to accept the bolt that runs through the whole setup is of another kind. See the attached pictures: I am sure there is a way to work around it or to modify it but just wanted to let you know on forehand. Maybe someone on the site has done this so lets see if someone chimes in. Also there might be available some kind of adoption system for this from Kuryakin or some other vendors. If not then aftermarket.
  25. Don. Thanks for this great post. Have been meaning to do this for a long time. You surely put me on track ! Be safe.
