2007 RVS lets me down for the second time in a month
StarFan replied to rickardracing's topic in Watering Hole
Randy. A car, a bike or for that matter any other motor driven vehicle will sooner or later brake down and need some repairs or new spare parts. Any new bike can brake down. In my opinion the RSV is the most reliable bike I have ever owned and I can not think of any other bike that is more reliable. These bikes are easy to fix and 99,99 % of the issues that come up, the members of VR.ORG have a solution for. I would spend a little time finding the problem and live happily ever after -
I and Kristjan the fearless silent Viking are willing to travel all the way from Iceland to attend this rally and Annie and her husband come all the way from down yonder. Great fun - hundred wild horses would not keep me away from attending. NOW SIGN UP AND JOIN THE FUN !!!!! Jonas / StarFan

Mary Jo. You will get to see Kristjan´s legs in person in August at Toms Rally, NY. But note - they are taken ! Gave Kristjan to Rocking Robin last year as a present from Iceland. She forgot to keep him so I was forced to ship him back home with me. Robin is driving me bankrupt since I have to transport Kristjan back and forward to Iceland all the time. This time I will make sure she keeps him ! And by the way - you and your hubby have and awesome bike and the side car is just beyond words ! You guys are just amazing ! Looking forward to meet up with you at Toms ! Hugs form Iceland (stupid Norway at work at the moment) But going to the Spanish Island of Mallorca for three weeks a week from now :cool10: so life is good ! Friendly regards, Jonas / StarFan

Taking a shortcut this can of cause be installed in 30 minutes. Going all the way without making alterations I will stick to my 90 minutes. In either bike was I able to pull the radiator down far enough to get the top hole over the top of the radiator without unhooking the hoses. If there is a way to do it then I would really like to know since I will most likely have to do this again sometime and would really like to be able to do it easier/faster than before. Still, when putting the cover on it is a good idea to just go all the way, remove the radiator, flush it and change the fluid if it is due.

From Nanci: Hey Jonas, if you don' reply to my last email which I sent weeks ago, neither of you will ever see the tank bibs you've been designing for the past several months. Thanks Puc you clean shaven,,,ehhhh,,,,,,,ehhhhhh,,,,,,(language barriers, DOH,,,,,) Noticed you did not mention Clint Eastwood. Kinda thought I looked a lot like him. Me and Craig (Cecdoo) have been practising that Eastwood look for years. http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/MD%20Day%202015/Craig%20Eastwood_zpsmkivoicu.jpg

I´ve done it a couple of times. It is not a 15 minute job - far from it. Yu will need to completely loosen up the radiator - all bolts and hoses to be able to move it enough to get the top hole of the cover over the top of the radiator. In both cases I took the radiator completely off, flushed it and changed the coolant. If you do that then remember to flush the water pump also. If I remember right I had to take the muffler off to do that. Another thing is that the cover when installed can be tight and a little wobbly. Meaning that if you push it inwards it will kind of stay inward a little curved. I fixed this with thick strong double tape that I put in a few places on the edge of the radiator/cover. Can´t be seen and keeps the cover perfectly straight. Wish you luck with this - first time I did this it took me more than triple the time I had expected. At least a two hours job from start to finish the first time. Got it down to just over one hour the second time. Entirely chances the look of the bike and well worth the work involved to say the least.

Thanks Dan ! The only thing that went wrong was that I made his bike better looking than mine Well, gonna take a crash course in custom painting in UK this winter and get me some equipment. Have a Milliennium that is pretty banged up - just waiting for some custom paint . Lets see if I can make it number one Watch out KRISTJAN

I have a 2000 Millennium in Reading, PA that I plan to ship to Iceland and rebuild. It has a leaking gasket on cyl no.2 so I will have to change it (actually will change both of them gaskets). Never done this before so adjusting the valves would be something clever to do since having everything apart. Have been wondering what parts from Yamaha I need apart from the gaskets - I do know about the shims. You state that one will need "valve cover pressure washers" What are those ? All I can see in the parts diagram are the bolts and some rubber grommets. Are there any other parts fro Yamaha needed when installing new gaskets ? http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Technical/Valve%20cover_zps44mwv0zm.jpg Regards, Jonas/StarFan Valve cover bolts.pdf

I have bought harnesses from Steve and he makes a great product and is a super nice guy. I would order a set of the new harness Steve (the expanding one) without a doubt. What I would like to see from you Power Wizards is a harness for the rear lights/lightbar that makes the turn signal light in the lightbar blink when you have the brake lights on. Don´t know if this has or can be done but the brake overrides the turn signal in the light bar when for example stopped at a red light waiting to turn. Would like the turn signal side to blink and the other side to stay on as a brake light. Can this be done ?

Have a wonderful trip Charles and be careful out there. Are the Custom Carb Covers on yet ? Be safe, Jonas / StarFan
