Hmmm,,, Actually color tune shows you the color of the flameafter the spark ignites the fuel mixture. By looking at the color you can tell if the mixture is lean or rich. Then you adjust the mixture screws on the carb untill you get the right color.

I thought the Venture carbs were 32mm Mikuni. Correct me if I am wrong please.

Greetings Star friends. I have a Royal star Tour Classic II 1998 sitting in a repair shop in New York being repaired after a transportation accident and waiting to be shipped to me in Iceland. The friendly person who sold me the bike was so nice that he bought me a gallon of SeaFoam and put it in the saddle bags since this product can not be bought in Iceland. Just to be on the safe side I decided to call mr. Seafoam himself and ask him about running SeaFoam through (what do you call it - Crankcase?) instead of engine oil to clean everything out. What I was worrying about was clutch slippage. I do not remember the name of the person I talked to but he was I think their sales manager. What he told me was that running the product through the "crankcase" to clean the compartment out was quite safe. He said that usually the clutch slippage in motorcycles was caused by gum building up on the disks and that SeaFoam would clean that off and therefore inmprove the contacts of the clutch disks. He adviced me to drain the oil out and put the same amount of SeaFoam as I would when changing the oil. Then start the bike up and let it run for about two to five minutes and then completely drain the SeaFoam out and fill again with fresh oil. He said it was perfectly safe and would not under any circumstances do any harm - all it would do was to clean the dirt out and improve the clutch performance. I am going to try this when my bike gets here and I will post the results. I have heard nothing but good things about this product and am quite confident that it will not harm my clutch or other components. Has anyone of you guys done this?

Have a look at this case. It is only one of many: The Brian Crenshaw case Brian Crenshaw was a blind inmate allegedly beaten into a coma by guards working under Arpaio. Crenshaw suffered injuries that included a perforated intestine and a broken neck. He later died at a local hospital. When asked about the incident, Arpaio insisted, "The man fell off a bunk."[18] Crenshaw's family filed a lawsuit against Arpaio and his office, which resulted in an award of $2 million dollars.[19] As in the Scott Norberg case, it was alleged that Arpaio's office destroyed evidence in the case. In the Crenshaw case, the attorney who represented the case before a jury alleged digital video evidence was destroyed.[20] After doing a little research on this department I can not say that I approve on their methods. In 2007 filed lawsuits against his office exceeded 50 million US$ and are increasing. Personally I can not see how mental and physical abuse will make prisoners better citizens when released.

A Venture ? Lets include the Tour Classic´s, the Boulevards and the Tour Deluxe´s also. Well, I have the only right thing for this contest. Whoever is the first one to go to Iceland to ride his bike is the winner. Freebird decides the prize but I will include free boarding for a week - gotta bring your bike though. So Freebird - get this on the road so people can flock to Iceland on their Royal Stars.

Try send Don / Freebird a PM and I am sure he has the key to your problem.

I use a circular aluminum 4mm plate I had a workshop make for me. Sorry I don´t have a picture of it but will post one soon. I have some modifications in mind that will make it possible to store the plate on the side of the bike itself but not the saddlebags. Still working on it but will post info when finished. A Royal Star that I just recently bought had a nice addition to the kickstand that makes the bike lean a little less when laid on the kickstand. The bike is still in USA but I will get it in about 2 months (transport damage - being repaired) Will give you the whole story after I have everything sorted out.

Maybe I am not getting this - but why not just put a good size vise grip on the bolt head, lock it very tightly and turn the bolt out? Would maybe help to spray a little WD40 on the opposite end (threads) or heat it a little. Am I wrong ?

stock mufflers!!!!!!!!!!!!

Note that by punching the baffles or removing them, then my experience is you risk getting backfire. I bought my first Royal Star Tour Classic II 1998 last December and always thought it was a little loud. Also had bad backfiring when releasing the throttle while running in gear. Had synchronized the carbs, tuned the pilots with Color tune and it is in top adjustment - but still backfiring. Finally took it to a reputable repairman here in Iceland (story goes his mother gave birth to him sitting on the back of a Harley) and he immediately said that the bafflers must have been opened up/drilled by the sound of the exhaust. We checked - and he was right. To try to fix it I/we installed new pilot jets and tried different pilot jet adjustments but still backfiring. Note that there are no soldering faults on the y section of the pipes and all the gaskets are sealing perfectly. So - for me - New baffles - just hate the backfiring. Would think the correct way is to get a complete system and rejet the carb. Just my opinion. -
I can not get the point of comparing these totally different bikes. For me it is like comparing a Mercedes SLK to a Hummer. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was a very interesting reading but I can not say that I get the point. Comparing the Venture with the Triumph Rocket and the FJR 1300 is kind of strange. These are completely different bikes and simply can not be compared. Who would want to ride 800 miles in a day, two up on the Rocket or the FJR 1300? Certainly not me but I would do that on the Venture any given day. These bikes are to different to compare. There is not a bike in the world that is perfect in every way and there will never be such a bike. The Venture is a solidly built cruiser, large and heavy but very comfortable and demands respect. But a very nice driver when you get to know the bike. It does not have ABS and I do agree it would be nice to have it but not a must. More power needed? Well, if you are into speeding then buy a racer - not a touring bike. The Venture has ample power but it is not a racer and never will be - designed and geared for cruising - understandably. When deciding on a bike one has first of all to decide where in the motorcycle community he wants to be. A triker, a racer, a cruiser, a tourer and so forth. Pick your shelf and then choose the bike that suits you best in that category but don´t confuse yourself or others by comparing bikes from different categories. That is in my eyes simply a naive thing to do. You can´t beat the price of the Venture or the warranty. I am sure we are all very exited about seeing Yamaha come up with a upgraded Venture with the ABS, Fuel Injection, GPS and so forth but one thing is for sure. There will most certainly be some things from the old Venture left out that we will miss and some new things we like and others we do not like. The perfect bike will never be!!!!!!!!!! But the Venture is damn close !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Squidley. I will ask them for a quote and keep you guys posted. Do you know if they are using their own trucks or if they are bidding the shipping out? Had a bad experience with a company that did bid the shipping out. They sent a truck that you guys use to pick up car wrecks - open of cause and not meant for motorcycles by any means. My bike was a custom show bike and it was in the middle of winter in Illinois. Luckily the seller refused to load the bike to the truck and sent it away and took care of the shipping himself.

Hi Freebird. Tried to sign up but they do not accept international users. Sorry about that. Just cant convince my family to move to the states (believe me I have tried),,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Pilots screws properly adjusted?
-
Hmm,,,, Makes you wonder how she seems to be when Bob is actually there. :rotf: Just couldn´t resist it Freebird. Now why in the world was I born in Iceland with all these gettogethers in USA.
-
Actually I think this is kind of neat. Will without doubt help shorter riders that want big bikes. I actually like this idea (yes - I am rather short),,,,,,,,,,,,,,

What a nice looking bike. Bet it runs as good as it looks. Hmmm,, wonder if my better half would give a permit for another bike in the garage. Gone to the florist,,,,,,,,,,,,

Hi Kenw. I run Norton Antivirus on all my computers. It is a little costly but after I started to use it I never have any problems with Spy programs, popups or viruses. Needs to be updated regularly (automatic by choice) and one has to renew the subscription yearly. In my books it is worth every penny. Sometimes it is better to spend a little and be on the safe side.

I will keep you guys posted as things progress. It is a two months process from USA to my garage. Patience,,,,,,,,,,patience,,,,,,,,thats the key to it. Might bug you guys to get some SeaFoam for me and ship to the seller of the bike so he can put it in the saddlebags. Can´t get the stuff here in Iceland and no store will ship it to me. So know is maybe the chance. Will of cause check first if the seller can get this for me. I know he travels a lot so maybe he will not have the time. We will see what happens. Sea Foam I would of cause pay on forehand with a comission and postal fee. What about one gallon for me and I will pay one for you? Gotta know a good deal when you are offered one - Right?

Thanks for the concerne Freebird. I have already talked with the owner on the phone. It is genuine. Ebay also had his second offer in my eBay mail box and the bike was relisted for 24 hours as a second chance offer. Address and name checks out at PayPal so I am good to go. But like you said - there are bogus offers swirming around and one needs to make precautions. I have been doing business on eBay for 8 years but still I run across a new scam from time to time.

Maybe I should see a shrink. Had been following this bike on eBay item number: 190214574057 and made a bid. Was the highest one at auction end but reserve not met. The owner offered me a second chance through eBay and I took it for a "Buy It Now". A lot of shrink hours in that sum. Maybe it is just better to loose control from time to time and spend it on Royal Stars. Don´t know but maybe there is some hypnotizing effect in that Camellia Green color. I already have an identical bike - exactly the same - color and everything, tell me I aint crazy please,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
