  1. Just simply love em ,,,,,,,,,,,,
  2. Hi there. Saw this unique and beautiful Royal Star Tour Deluxe 1997 on eBay. Sadly, my BOSS is keeping an eye on our bank account. Getting a little to chilly to sleep in the garage. Really like the custom vintage color scheme on this one. What do you guys think? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1997-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Tour-Deluxe_W0QQitemZ270278618310QQihZ017QQcategoryZ50045QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  3. I know. Just could not resist
  4. Thanks Squidley. Same here,,,, Just cant wait to meet you guys. I will stay clear of the pond,,,,,,,, Did Don drive his tractor into it?
  5. Thanks LoneEagle. There seems to be somekind of a local joke going around with this pond. I have it added as "Places of Interest" in my travelling plan. Will surely get somebody to enlighten me once I am there. Is it maybe so that someone has the experience that the "Pond" is not motorcycle friendly?
  6. Thanks for the comment on the bike Don. It is a little funny sitting here in Iceland and looking at pictures of the bike I own but have never actually seen it or touched it. Darn difficult at times not to jump on a plane and fly over. I am trying to find a way to make time go faster so spring comes sooner but so far - no luck. But I have no doubt that I will have a great time and am just so anxious to meet with all of you people here at venturerider.org. You all stay safe and ride carefully now,,,,,,,,
  7. I am using a Nolan bluetooth headset in my helmet. I just recently installed it and use it for my phone. Don´t have a radio on my bike yet but will add it this winter. It is excellent as a phone headset and is loud and clear without any sqeeking and the caller hears me loud and clear even though I am doing 60 miles per hour. Will hook it up to my sons IPod tomorrow and check how it works and let you guys now. But maybe you guys are familiar with this and already know!?!?!?!
  8. Well, finally added some pictures of my (new) Royal Star Tour Classic II 1998 that I bought in June from a very nice gentleman in Woodstock New York. Same year, model and color as the one I have back here in Iceland. Will be coming to Don´s Maintenance Day next spring to ride the bike and meet all you great people attending this website. Like I told Mini-Muffin the other day - This is a community of the greates biker people in the USA and couple of other countrys and I am proud and honored to be a member. Hope you enjoy the pictures.
  9. Hi Wildgoose. Why don´t you check if Rick Butler has a bag for you. He sold me a set for 500 US$ without the lock and key and they were just great. I know that at that time he had another set available. If he has sold them then you should check eBay. There are usually some Royal Star hard bags for sale there and often sold seperately - that is not as a pair. You could also contact Pinwall Cycle in Ohio. The web address is pinwallcycle.com. They often have those for sale. Gotta have them bags on the bike. The bike looks stark naked without them. Wish you all the best with your rebuild.
  10. [quote=Maritimer;Ooops! I feel really aweful now Flugur but tx for straightening me out before I went too far for the arangements. I'll be crawling under a rock now...... quote] Not to worry Maritimer. I am not sensitive in this area and people often get mixed up with Iceland and Greenland. So just relax my friend. But tell me,,,,,,, How is the weather this time of year in Santiago, Canada ?
  11. Remember that you should check your oil when the engine is warm. After you fill her up take her for a spin and then recheck the oil level. It should be 1/2 in the glass window when warm.

Name the date and I will make sure to have a Star for you and show you some good time. If you attend Freebirds (Dons) maintenance day next spring then we will meet. Plan to come and do some riding and meet some of the nice people that are members of this forum. Have a bike in New York waiting for me and just can´t wait till spring comes along.
  13. Here is another one. The guys who make these introduce themselves as Venture riders and they sell a lot on eBay. Put this item number in the eBay search bar and have a look 330272634306 They have different types and different colors. Look really sharp to me.
  14. Thanks guys for your responses. And sorry Carbon One for the misunderstanding regarding you not making the adapter for the older Royal Star. Mixed up your frame adapter with a centerstand. Had previously asked a guy on eBay that makes centerstands for the Venture if he could make one for the older Royal and his answer was no. Again - sorry for that. Regarding shipping to Thule then I am very grateful Maritimer for your thought but note - Thule is in Greenland - not Iceland so please don´t spend your time checking this out any further. I am sure me and Carbon One will figure something out. Carbon One - I will PM you later today when I am home from work. Again - Many thanks for your help guys.
  15. Hi there girls (Dave not included - but hi Dave). Well, since I am living close to the North Pole I need to ask about this BACA thingie. What is it? Kind of have a feeling it is some kind of "helping others" group/club. Sometimes a little hard for me to figure these things out when they are (what do you call it ?) "short spelled? Forgive me for my lack of words - short spelled? Must be a better phrase for it.
  16. Greetings guys. Now here is a problem that I can not solve but therefore hope you can give me some advice. I have a Royal Star Tour Classic II 1998 and am just itching to grease my final drive, as well as doing some mods in the back with the rim off. I have the motorcycle lift so I am good to go except I don´t have a lift frame adapter. I know that Carbon One makes these adapters for the Venture and the newer Tour Deluxe models but not for the older Stars. Is there anybody out there that knows where I can get one made for my bike? How do you guys with these older models do this? Wooden blocks is the last choice but I would rather not go that path. Like to have the things I need for my bike and want to play things safe so to speak. Sincerely hope that you guys can give me some advice on this so I wont have to wheel my queen to the repair shop for a simple task of final drive greasing.

Hmmmmm,,,, And I thought that Iceland was cold and snowy. Rode my bike throughout November last year with no snow - just a bit cold sometimes. Maybe you guys should come over to Iceland in the late autumn and do some riding with us vikings:Venture:
  18. The bags are the same. Same part number - same bags. No difference. They even are a bolt on without any mods to the 96 to 2001 Royal Stars. Have a set from a 2005 Venture that fits my 1998 Royal Star Tour Classic II. Just removed the leather bags and bolted the hard bags on - ten minutes work and a perfect fit.
  19. Woowww New color combo ! The guys at the design department have really been working hard for the 2009 model. So guess we are stuck with this design for the next ten years !
  20. Dale. It is a little difficult to advice you since I have no idea of your skills, budget or what kind of music you are using these instruments for. I have owned many guitars in my short life and I have to agree with Don that the Seagulls are simply the best buy in the aucoustic upper middle class range. They have a neck that is a little wider than on other aucoustics and if your hands and/or fingers are big then they are much easier to play. The sound is usually rather deep but they sing outwards and have a very wide tone. I just love them. I have a twelve string and three six strings and they are all great instruments. I have had Yamahas, Takamine, Alvares, Ibanez, Simon and Patrick, Fender and the infamous Ovation (sold him after a week), and my Seagulls are simply much better in all ways. You can of cause get a better instrument than the Seagull if you have the money like top end Taylors and so forth but the difference in quality and sound does not justify the price difference in my opinion. I am more into saxophones than guitars even though I have a few guitars but it is the same with guitars, motorcycles, fly fishing and so forth - everyone has different opinions and different experiences. Regarding electric guitars then it is the same story. Everybody has their own opinion. My favourite modern electric guitar is the Ibanez Steve Vai Gem 6 string. Have a white one with golden accents personally signed in my and my sons presence by mr. Vai. An awesome instrument that is practically self playing. No limits on what you can play on this guitar, Jazz, rock, heavy metal you just name it. Great fingerboard and all kind of extra patents. My favourite oldtimer is a Gibson ESTD300 electric Jazz guitar that I got after my father. I plug it in to his 1955 Gibson tube Amplifier and it just makes me cry. Heavenly soft Jazz sound that can not be compared to anything. The Les Paul model is also great, specially the older ones. The only advice I can actually give you is - buy the guitar that feels good to you and that you are happy with. Have somebody with experience and knowledge help you out when picking the instrument and try as many as you can get your hands over and compare them.
  21. Hi guys. I have had six bikes shipped in USA and always used the same company but,,,,last time was the LAST time I will use them. Found out the hard way that they auction out their shipping to independent drivers and miscalenous companys. They even use open carhaulers for the bikes. When loading the bike onto the hauler the driver drove the bike up the ramp and straight off the side of the ramp down to the ground when more than halfway up. Fell down more than three feet and got a 2.200US$ damage. Took more than nine weeks to get the bike fixed with a lot of hazzle. My advice is - Go with the experienced companys that do motorcycle shipping only, that preferrably have their own trucks and never, ever ship it in a open vehicle. Enclosed trailer is the only way. Decided to keep the bike in USA for now and am planning a trip next spring to pick up the bike and do some riding before shipping it to Iceland. Hope to be able to meet some of you nice people while I am there.
  22. Hmmm,,, Actually color tune shows you the color of the flameafter the spark ignites the fuel mixture. By looking at the color you can tell if the mixture is lean or rich. Then you adjust the mixture screws on the carb untill you get the right color.
  23. I thought the Venture carbs were 32mm Mikuni. Correct me if I am wrong please.
  24. Lucky you didn´t live in Finland, the country of the thousand lakes.
  25. Greetings Star friends. I have a Royal star Tour Classic II 1998 sitting in a repair shop in New York being repaired after a transportation accident and waiting to be shipped to me in Iceland. The friendly person who sold me the bike was so nice that he bought me a gallon of SeaFoam and put it in the saddle bags since this product can not be bought in Iceland. Just to be on the safe side I decided to call mr. Seafoam himself and ask him about running SeaFoam through (what do you call it - Crankcase?) instead of engine oil to clean everything out. What I was worrying about was clutch slippage. I do not remember the name of the person I talked to but he was I think their sales manager. What he told me was that running the product through the "crankcase" to clean the compartment out was quite safe. He said that usually the clutch slippage in motorcycles was caused by gum building up on the disks and that SeaFoam would clean that off and therefore inmprove the contacts of the clutch disks. He adviced me to drain the oil out and put the same amount of SeaFoam as I would when changing the oil. Then start the bike up and let it run for about two to five minutes and then completely drain the SeaFoam out and fill again with fresh oil. He said it was perfectly safe and would not under any circumstances do any harm - all it would do was to clean the dirt out and improve the clutch performance. I am going to try this when my bike gets here and I will post the results. I have heard nothing but good things about this product and am quite confident that it will not harm my clutch or other components. Has anyone of you guys done this?
