Me and my wife have Nolan helmets with bluetooth installed. Works perfectly with no bugs, crystal clear and we simply love it. Had no problems with it and the installation and tuning was no problem. Hooks up with the mobile phone and the Garmin as well. Simply love it.

Congrats. They are our future!

Well, releasing a CD has been discussed. But I think it is to soon. I think that they should keep experimenting, finess their playing and performing and be given the oppurtunity to mature a little as a band. Lets give them a couple of years and see what happens. What you can hear on www.myspace.com/hinir are actually studio recordings except the song "hundred million pushups" the instrumental song. That was just done with a simple homestudio. So history has been preserved so to speak because in the future it is very important to be able to listen to older recordings and hear how the music and playing has advanced or/and changed/matured. When and if there is a CD I will post and everybody at VR.org will have a special price for sure. Thank you all for your kind words. Warms my heart and tells me that my opinion on their music and playing is not entirely colored from being the father of Valli.

Hi Bill. Weather is around 35°F today and is getting colder by every week. Usually hangs anywhere from 15°F to 40°F through the winter. Rarely gets colder here on the south coast. The other parts get a little colder. Riding season is from middle April to middle of October. The name is kind of a bluff. Actually a very mild winter here and the summers are o.k. even though we would like them a little warmer and more stable weather vice.

Take a glass of dry whiskey and drop in it a bats eye, three minched frogs and a rats tail. Put the stuff in your blender:stirthepot: and drink it:beer:. Then stay home the next four riding seasons, transfer 700.000.US$ to my bank account and I guarantee you that everything will be O.K..................

Thanks Wayne and all the others for your nice comments. Regarding Lennon,,,,,,,,, Hmmmmm,,,,,,, Did never feel a lot of blues in his music but then again we all hear music in different ways. But good old James Taylor is there for sure. My all time favourite. Heard he just released a new album.

There is a way around this. Get yourself a Piaggio Vespa. Then you can slid right on the seat and wont have to lift your foot. Pretty cool machines but by all means stay off the freeway. Wish you quick healing !!!!!!!!!

Stumbled upon this chrome trunk rack. Have not seen it before. Think it looks super cool. Sure it will fit with the LED light spoiler. http://images.google.is/imgres?imgurl=http://www.americanmotorcycleaccessories.com/prodimages/thumbs/2017.JPG&imgrefurl=http://www.americanmotorcycleaccessories.com/products.asp%3Fcat%3D36&h=148&w=200&sz=12&hl=is&start=14&um=1&usg=__Z5adPNUyc_LthoETrX1wlyKCTLM=&tbnid=qBWsxUrlQeYO0M:&tbnh=77&tbnw=104&prev=/images%3Fq%3Droyal%2Bstar%2Bspoiler%26um%3D1%26hl%3Dis%26lr%3D

Thanks Dan. I think they got something going for them but only time will tell where this leads to.There is some kind of a originality in this music of theirs and they are doing this on their own terms with their own arrangements. I will at least support them all the way in every way. Thats what we parents are for. The song "London" is also a catchy song he wrote to his girlfriend when she went on a three days trip to England. Woww,,,, are they in love,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Hi there. Just can´t help but brag a little about my youngest son "Valli". He just turned sixteen this summer and is the leader in a mellow rock group in Iceland called "Hinir" (The Others). The band consists of six youngsters from the age of fourteen to seventeen. My boy is the lead singer, guitar player and songwriter and even though I say so myself the music is more advanced than one would expect from such young kids. The song called "Living was easy" has a story behind it: In 2003 my father, Valli´s grandfather passed away unexpectedly and it was the first loss my sons experienced. We went through the procedure of greeving for some time and tried to stay strong and stick together and as time went by the wounds started to heal little by little. Then about a year ago I was browsing the internet and looking at some poetry when my older son´s name came up. I clicked the link and it took me to a poetry site where one could post his poetry. There was a beautiful piece full of love and grieve that my son had written to his grandfather and it just melted my heart and brought tears to my eyes. He had never told us about this and I respect that all the way and it tought me that our kids have sides that they do not always share/show us parents. The week after we were at my youngest sons graduation at school (he was fifteen then) and his band was performing in front of five hundred people. He introduced the first song as a little song he had written when his grandfather had passed away three years ago (he was just turning twelve at the time). Me and my wife were just big question marks. He had never told us about this and we had never heard him sing. He had his twelwe string Seagull guitar, started the instrumental intro and then began singing. Tears were just running down my face - just could not help it - it was such a beautiful performance and the sweetest song I had heard in a long time and brought back memories of my father. He was a professional guitar player and I think it is O.K. for my son to quote Kenny Loggins by saying" I am a living Legacy of the leader of the band". You can listen to the song as well as two others by clicking this link (or copy and paste into your browser). www.myspace.com/hinir Hope you forgive me for bragging. I am just very proud of my sons and the kids in the band.

Get your computer cleaned out and also see if your hard disk is running out of space. Do you have a slow/small processor? The VR. org site works fine for me even though I am 5.000 miles away from you guys even though our island/economy is going down the drain.

Hi Lynn. Regarding putting floor heating in your house then Pex is one of the right material to use. It is not entirely plastic since it is a plastic coated aluminum tubing. Just be careful to read all the manufacturer specs regarding how much heat his production can withstand as well as how long it will last. We use a lot of these here in Iceland since our hot water comes from the ground and is relatively unexpensive. The guarantedd lifetime of the pex tubings that are available here in Iceland is 50 years given that the temperature of the water does not exceed 60°Celsius (around 140°Fahrenheit). Just a friendly warning: Have somebody that has experience with these systems advice you what brand and type of pex to purchase. If this goes wrong then you might be spending a lot of money to get it right. It is better to spend more money on good quality material from the start. Believe me - I have been there.

Hi Big Tom. I will be coming from Iceland to NY, in May/June 2009 to attend Freebirds Maintenance Day held at his place in Oberlin, Ohio. Have a bike up in Woodstock, NY and plan to ride over and of cause do some more riding in Ny, PA and possiblie Indiana and Illinois if the time allows. Is it O.K. if I contact you before I arrive and maybe we can do some riding together? Second thing is that you do need to put some pictures of your beautiful bike in your photo gallery. Love the color. Suits this bike perfectly in my opinion.

*** FREE*** N.G. Scenic Highways & Byways book
StarFan replied to Carbon_One's topic in Watering Hole
Buhhh Huhhhhh. Can´t get one since I live by the North Pole. Is there anybody out there that could order an extra copy by hubbies/wifie name and post it to me at my expense plus "running to the post office" fee ? Need to plan my trip from Woodstock New York to Freebirds place in Ohio next spring with some stops and nice routes as well as up to Illinois. And hopefully back. -
Thanks Bob. The Zumo 550 will be on the bike when I come over to USA next spring. Will have to have it for finding my ways around New York, Pensylvania, Ohio and Illinois. The speedo is more of an "should be there" thing. Three options only in my opinion: 1. Find a way to change the glass. 2. Customize the bike by finding a way and attaching the "old Buick style" speedo from the 2005 and newer Tour Deluxe. 3. Get a new 1998 speedo for the bike (don´t like that - rather have the spotted glass than going through the hazzle and money of getting a new from the dealer). So - there must be someone out there that has given this a thought.

Hi guys and girls. Have a problem that I was interested in knowing if any of you had ever tackled. I have a Royal Star Tour Classic 1998 with the speedometer on the gas tank. The are some kind of dried up spots on the inside of the glass covering the meter and it really annoyes me (the warden says I am insanely picky to say the least). Have been looking at replacing the glass but before I do this I wanted to know if any of you guys had ever done this. At Yamaha´s spare part list the glass is not listed seperately but I could easily have the glass made. Then again - maybe this is not supposed to be interchangeable and Yamaha wants you to buy a new speedo if the glass brakes for example? Another thing that has crossed my mind is to change the speedo to the digital 2005 Tour Deluxe old Buick style. Don´t know if this is possible but maybe some of you could enlighten me. The speedo being placed on the tank makes it a little akward to look at since one has to look down and therefore off the road and traffic and in my eyes that is something that increases risk of ending up in a accident or rear ending the vehicle in front. God knows that motorcyclists need all the attention and alertness possible in todays traffic. Hope that some of you can help me on this issue and any advice or info is greatly appreciated. Just don´t tell me to get myself a newer bike with the original speedo on the handlebar. Really love my bikes (two 1998 Tour Classics) for the color and that vintage look and I am not about to get another one in the near future - Well - maybe a Venture next spring if the Warden slackens her administration and alertness,,,,,,,,,

Congratulations on that! Now you just have to show them that there is not a better choice and I am sure you will. Wish you all the best with your promotion!

Just to put the records straight I wanted to announce that Don has changed my username by my request. My new username is StarFan - changed from being flugur. Why StarFan? Take a wild guess!!!!!!!!!! What did Flugur mean? Sorry - Icelandic and I won´t tell! O.K. I´ll tell you after a couple of beers next maintenance day at Dons place- I will be attending even though Iceland is almost bankrupt. Twenty angry newly skinned Polar Bears won´t keep me away !!!!!!!!!

Beer30 It is clear you did not hear about the guy in Iceland who was brought to court for stealing womens underwear that had been hung out for drying. He had collected 190 of them. In court hearing he claimed this was a passion and he was simply building up a collection. He even stated that he was in the process of putting up a museum. The news said that it was the funniest court hearing ever and even the judge was crying his eyes out in laughter. He got a very mild verdict and was instructed to go to therapy. So what is the moral of the story? Even your underwear is not safe from thieves!

Hmmm,,, Alive and kicking you say. Would you settle for my warden?
-
No problem Painterman. Just give me a couple of weeks since I will have to go out on the ice and find one. If they are not around would you settle for a walrus hide?
-
What a bunch of sizzys you guys are! Up here in Iceland we use Polar bear skin!
