Bought a couple on eBay around three years ago. The brand name was "Gorilla covers". Don´t know if they are still around but this is simply the best buy I have made for my motorcycles. Heat shield on the bottom part, vent flaps above the steering, soft fabric on the inside to prevent scratches and straps to fasten under the bike. Colors to choose from and even though they are strong and ridgid they pack up pretty small and easily. Friendly regards from Iceland (ehhhhh,,Norway at the moment - work). Jonas / Starfan

Repair shop in Houston Area
StarFan replied to Roundman's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Hi Tim. Was wondering if your bike would not still have the warranty? It is five years you know and it should without doubt cover this. -
That is one smart, logical move you made here Don. I think it is about time that you get something back for all your expenses, time and work. Long due to say the least. Proud to be a member of this great community. Wish you and your family all the best.

Dear friends. I would like to thank all of you that attended "Maintenance Day" for your warmth and welcome you represented to me when I was in your beautiful country last June. Like I have said none of you could ever imagine how much this meant to me and how comfortable you all made me feel. I had no doubts that this club had great people but I have to say that you guys are simply the greatest ever. Everbody were so friendly and I have made so many good friends and am just overwhelmed. I lack words to explain how thankful I am and I thank God that he guided me to this club and all of you people. May you all ride safe and I hope that I will have the oppurtunity to meet you all again in the coming years. Warmest greetings from Iceland (Greenland at the moment). Jonas - StarFan

I saw this thing in person at Bob´s Holsapples motorcycle shop in Woodstock,NY. He had three of them and had just prepped them. Looking at it from a motorcycle enthusiastic wiew I can not say that I was impressed since this thing is more like a 3/4 of a car than a motorcycle. Has a steering wheel and a automatic transmission, airconditioning and most features modern cars have. On the other hand it is a sharp looking motorvehicle and I am sure it is fun to drive but it is to far from a motorcycle to interest me. Did make me wonder how it would handle sharp turns at a pegscraping angle and speed. At the price of 30.000 US$+ - I would rather customize my Royal Star beyond my wildest dreams than spend it on this. In my eyes this thing simply has nothing to do with motorcycles and most likely not meant to. To car like. But thats just my two cents worth,,,,,,,

Hi Craig. I will be leaving Woodstock around 9:00 in the morning. But note that I will take the sideroads to enjoy the landscape and breath in the country and the wiews so it might take me some time to get to your area. I have your telephone number and will call when I get close or call you when I am middle way. We will see how early I get to your town and take it from there - wether we go straight to Toms or if we have time to look at the Falls. I will call and keep you updated buddy. I have no idea how long this ride takes and have to ride it the way I feel comfortable with since this country is new to me. Untill then,,,, All the best from Woodstock,NY Jonas

Hi and thank you all for your warm welcome. Just to save me some typing then I am taking the liberty to advertise my USA telephone number here if any of you need to get in contact with me. 347 901 2533 AT&T service. See you all at Don´s and some of you earlier. All the best from Woodstock,NY. Jonas

You get the plugs and I will show you how to do it and how to tighten the plugs correctly. If you are interested we could also check your spline grease and so forth. Let me know what you wanna do!

Same to you Dan and all of you that have replied and not replied. I will be there Friday at around 18:00 hours but maybe a bit later. Depends on how many Ice cream stands we are riding by since I am riding down with BigTom (who is getting tinier and tinier). Might be midnight before we get there if he´s out of control:big-grin-emoticon: I am depending on Taters controling him. I´ve heard she is good at it. How did he ever get that girl

Hi there all you nice people at Vebnturerider .org. I have finally arrived in the USA. Staying with my friend Henry and his wife Jency in Woodstock NY. It is one of the most beautiful town and surroundings I have ever been in. The bike is registered, insured and road Ready and I have been riding in this picturesque surroundings today getting the feel for the bike and it is great. I think I am the happiest guy in NY at the moment. Just counting the hours till I meet up with you all at Don´s late Friday. This trilp meens more to me than any of you would ever understand and the main reason for that is ALL YOU NICE PEOPLE AT VR.ORG - finally meeting you - WHHOOOAAAAA!!!!!!! Will be riding in with BigTom and his friends on Friday. Looking so forward to meet you all in person. If any of you need/want to shoot me a message then please write to: alto@mmedia.is since I will check that one regularly till Friday. All the best and looking so forward,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Jonas

Thank you all for your help. Attached is a copy of the document filled out. I just hope this will all gp through and without any further problems. See you all at Don´s.

I have my own bike in Woodstock NY. Gotta insure it and then register it. The registration part is no problem since the bike is in my name but the insurance is a pain. Progressive and Geico don´t want to insure international drivers unless they by some miracle have a USA drivers license (how likely is that?).
-
Don´t like em either Dan. But can´t ride without insurance can you! Gotta pull this through or the trip is only half fun driving in a cage. Still would come and meet you guys though since that is the main reason for this trip. The riding part is like a good dessert.
-
Yep SilverT. A person that is uninsured is underinsured. It is a little confusing but I do need help with filling this out so I can send it off and hopefully everything will work out fine. So - who´s the insurance specialist in the club
-
Hi all. Well I am finally home from Greenland and getting ready for my trip to USA - leaving on Monday. I was trying to insure my USA bike but since I do not have a USA drivers license then none of the bigger companies will offer me insurance for my bike. For a moment things were looking to be hopeless and I was thinking about renting a cage to be able to attend Maintenance day. But I lucked out (so to speak). I found a company in USA that insures bikes for travel through guys like me. They are called: www.motorcycleexpress.com. I called them and they sent me a form to fill out and send back to them. O.K. - had a look at the form and compared to our forms here in Iceland this is complicated to say the least. The minimum time for insurance is 30 days and I can live with that. But the total for that period will exceed 400 US$ at least if the form is filled out the way I did it. I can also swallow that but I am running out of time so to speak and need your help. I will attach the file here and please have a look and tell me how you guys would fill this out - that is what coverage to take. Note that I want to be on the safe side and take as full coverage as possible. Need to send this out this weekend so the insurance will be ready Tuesday. So please helo me with this one so I can ride up to BigToms and to Don´s place next week. Bike or cage,,,,,, Lookin g forward to meet you all ! All the best from Iceland, Jonas

Well, we had a conversation yesterday and I will be bringing my Latex undies as well as my wifes corselett. Tom said it would be the only way to blend in,,,,,,,,,

By all means don´t worry about this. I am in Greenland at this moment and I am coming to Maintenance Day and I will bring some Whalrus tooths with me and offer some implants. You will be hot, hot, hot,,,,,,,,,,,,

What Year To Buy??
StarFan replied to t-binger's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Since you are only thinking about buying a Royal Star Venture with the added touring comfort/Trunk then you have the same power in the Venture from the beginning of production in 1999 to this year. The Royal Star was first produced in 1996 and did not have the trunk and the engine had smaller carburators, different camshaft, weaker valve springs and so forth. It gave around 64 HP compared to 96 HP for the Venture. Here below are the HP facts for the different Royal Star models: Royal Star Tour Classic/Tour Deluxe/Boulevard from 1996 to 2001 - 64 HP. (No Trunk) Not produced 2002 - 2003 and 2004. Royal Star Tour Deluxe from 2005 to 2009 - 96 HP. (No Trunk) Royal Star Venture from 1999 to 2009 - 96 HP. (With Trunk) -
Dear Don and Eileen. I wish you all the best on your trip to Boston and I know that God is watching over you. You are in our prayers and I know they will be answered. Regarding your subscription suggestions then I would do it the following way: 1. Open for all to read but only paid members can post. 2. Fully open trial membership for fourteen days. 3. An indicator to the posts that shows if the member is on trial or is a subscribed supportive member. And then of cause the member list would have to be updated. Not saying that my suggestions are the only right thing to do - only my thoughts on the issue. Looking forward to see you in 1 month - 2 weeks and 5 days (who´s counting) Greetings from Greenland (of all places)
