  1. Well Margaret - You are the most normal woman I have ever met !
  2. Well,,,You German guys have a way with women !
  3. well,,,I wanna take back my first description. This one here describes me much better - in Icelandic - I am sure BigTom can translate this for you guys: "PissaigardinumhansBigTom´s"
  4. Thanks - I need it !
  5. Well,,,,"Owning a bike" is "Normal". Been trying to explain this to my wife and she is just about to understand that owning two bikes is "Very Normal". Now I am working out a plan to get her to understand and accept that having three bikes is "Super Normal". Not sure it is gonna work though. Wish me luck!
  6. Well, why not relocate it thoroughly and move it back about two thousand miles. I´ll PM you my address in Iceland,,,,,,,,,,
  7. The older ones or the "Royal Star Tour Classics II and Boulevards had less horsepower. Smaller carbs or the 28mm Mikunis against 32mm for the Venture. Around 64 hp versus around 96 hp for the Venture. Not sure about other things but I am sure Lynn (pegscraper) can fill us in on the matter. My 1998 is being prepared for surgery and getting the V-Max cams and the bigger carbs. Will be interesting to ride that thing after the operation - going from 64 hp to 96 hp.
  8. I am pretty sure it is a Venture. Based on the color of all the painted parts - this color was never made for the Royal Stars - Only for the Venture bikes and if I remember right the 1999 only. The tank is a Venture tank and it would not fit the frame of the older Stars. And putting the fairing and all the goodies on an older Royal Star would be a pain in the bu** and not worth the trouble and time. It seems to me that the guy wanted to fit the Corbin seat (or whatever it is) and opted for removing the trunk and get a more sportier look. I still don´t get it - I have the trunk and hard bags for putting on my 1998 R.star but this guy removed them. And then again like you guys said - It might be a salvage title bike. But a Venture for sure - no doubt!
  9. Karl. I will pray for you. Not to worry. Everything will be o.k. God will be with you. Looking forward to read your recovery posts Friendly regards, Jonas
  10. Hi Lynn. Thanks to you I decided to go for it. Your article on the carb swap is superb and thorough and it tickled me from the second I read it. Was hoping to see you at 2009 Freebirds Maintenance Day but am sure that we will meet next time I attend. Surely hope that we will be able to hook up in the future. I will keep you guys posted as things move forward and I am sure that Earl (skydoc_1) will be in touch with you when he starts putting these things together for me. It is a drag I can not be with him and do the job with him and learn. I do everything myself on my bike except engine work. Just have not gotten myself educated enough in that field to feel comfortable with it but surely intend to do so. For me owning a bike and riding it is only 30% of the fun. The remaining 70% is fixing it and modifying and keeping it in top shape and of cause going to the States and meeting fellow members of the VR.org. Can not ever explain to you how great it was to meet the crowd at Dons and how much it meant to me to feel how welcome I was. A bunch of the best people I have ever met. I hope you and your loved ones are doing great and I look forward to seeing you in the future. Would very much be interested in your piano restore work since I do collect vintage instruments and even though I do not have a Grand Steinway I do love those beautiful old Grand pianos. Friendly regards from Iceland (Norway at the moment at work). Jonas
  11. so,whats your point !!!! Order me to come over and I might have a chance !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DOhhhh !!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Hmmmm,,,, I then it must be ice cream,,,,shoot,,,,,,
  13. [/quote Whats makes you think you need an order or an invitation to come home...? Well,,,,,it sure would make it easier for me to convince the warden if someone ordered me to come over. I am not the boss at our home (unless my Greta is abroad, the kids at grandmas and the dog at a dog hotel - then I rule - in the garage). Now don´t you go on blabbering about being the boss in your home - we all now that Vicky holds all the cards
  14. So that is what is in the package that awaits for me back home in Iceland ! Warden told me that there was a package from you and Vicky and I am looking forward to rip it up and have a look. Have two guys coming over to have a look at two bikes I am selling (1998 Yamaha Virago xv1100 and a 2005 Suzuki Boulevard Nomad 1500) and I will proudly wear mine and make a good impression, and hopefully sell the bikes. They are owned by a couple of friends of mine that live out in the country. The Virago owner actually bought the bike from me - it was my first bike - but he had a bad accident at work three months after buying the bike and it has been sitting for about a year. Sadly he will most likely never ride again. So I feel the least I can do is to sell it for him. It is a gem and only has 5.000 miles on it. The owner of the Suzuki on the other hand got infected by the famous Venture bacteria and I bought a Black 2003 for him in Reykjavik, Iceland where I live and rode it towards him around 300 miles and we exchanged bikes. Therefore I got caught up in the situation of taking his bike back home with the instructions of selling ot for him. Boy is he happy with his Venture. Calls me no less than once a week just to tell me what part of the bike he polished this week. Thanks a million Tom and Vicky - I am getting exited to see this. Jonas
  15. Like some of you might now I was looking into buying some Second Gen carbs that were listed on eBay by Pinwall Cycles. Well I got them for 304 US$ with shipping in USA and am one happy guy. They are already on their way to Earl Harell (skydoc_1). Then Earl sent me a mail Saturday morning and told me he had found some V-Max cams for my bike and was on his way over to Harrisburg to have a look at them. These cams are from a 1989 Vmax and only have 80 miles on them!!! Thats right, only 80 miles! The guy who had them rebuilt the motor, ran it 80 miles, sold the block and heads and had the cams left over.To cut a long story short Earl got all four of them for 200 US$ and now in general we only have the following things missing before we start the project: - (2) Intake boots - Yamaha part number 4XY-13586-10-00 - (2) Intake boots - Yamaha part number 4XY-13596-10-00 -(4) Intake boot clamps - Yamaha part number 4XY-13575-00-00 -(4) airbox boots - Yamaha part number 4XY-14453-00-00 -(4) airbox boot clamps - Yamaha part number 90460-58015-00 - (16) Spring valve inner - Yamaha part number 36Y-12113-00-00 -(16) Spring valve outer - Yamaha part number 36Y-12114-00-00 -(4) fabricated adapter plates (Good old Earl-skydoc_1)) and the Dyna ignition module as well as bolts washersh and stuff. So, if any of you guys and girls have any of the above sitting in your garage and would be willing to part with them then I would surely be interested in buying. I´ll keep you posted as things move along. Friendly regards from Iceland / Norway. Jonas http://www.yamahaofwarren.com/common/images/blank.gif
  16. Good to hear that the beast is running like a champ. Changing the radiator fluid is a good thing to do more often than the spec says. It goes bad in three years and things start to detoriate. Now are you going to do all this by yourself or am I ordered to come over and help you with this? Sure would love to,,,,,ón´t know what the warden would say though. All the best to youand Vicky Jonas
  17. wrong bike !
  18. Geee. I am happy I live far away from Eck. Never gonna take the misses to Freebirds Maintenance Day. At least not if I know Eck is gonna be lurking around. He is one sneaky guy. Here are pictures of my wife and my bike. Stay away Eck !
  19. ....................COLD.................At least at them moment here in freezing Norway
  20. Thanks guys. Having trouble shipping money to Earl through PayPal. strange though since I was able to ship money to a "birdie" member on this site just now. PayPal just wont let me ship to Earls account for some strange reason. I have a Premium account that is verified with unlimited amount so this is a riddle. The reason I need to go this way is that PinWall Cycle refuses to send the carbs to any other address than mine in Iceland since I am the registered owner of the eBay account and that would be kind of stupid. Don´t know what to do but Earl is going to speak to the people at PayPal and try to find out what gives. Going to bed now so don´t you guys dare to buy the carbs while I am sleeping. If you do so I will come over and pour some "Black Death" down your throats (second thought - some of you guys would actually want that). Good night and sleep tight. Friendly regards from Iceland (Norway at the moment). Jonas
  21. Yes I am doing this to my 1998 Royal Star Tour Classic II that I have in Woodstock New York. And you are absolutely right. An adapter plate has to be made along with modest modifications to the airbox and other small things. Lynn (pegscraper) has done this with his bike as well as parting out the camshafts for V-Max camshafts and the difference is 50% power increase for the bike. Goes from around 64 hp to 95 hp. I can live with that He actually made a thorough "how to" in the tech section of this forum www.venturerider.org/carbswap/. Earl Harell (skydoc1) is doing the work for me and he is a very skilled mechanic/cnc and I am sure this will turn out great. Will you be next ? I am sure that after having this done and tested the difference I will also do this to the bike I have in Iceland. I´ll keep you posted but I will be using the winter for gathering all parts needed and Earl will most likely start the work early spring if everything goes according to plan. I´ll keep everybody posted as things progress. Friendly regards from Iceland (Norway at the moment). Jonas
  22. I am working in Norway and it has been -7F for the past two weeks and I havent seen the little guy the whole period,,,,I know he is there somewhere,,,,Now lets see,,,,,,,,,,Nope,,,not showing up. Can´t wait to get back home to Iceland and cuddle with the Warden and get thawed up. I HATE THIS FREEZING WEATHER !
  23. Skydoc1 (Earl Harrel) gave me a hint that there was this Venture 2nd.Gen carb for sale on eBay. Please have a look at the pictures if they show up - or the eBay auction site (item number:130270132573) and advice me if this is the whole unit or if it looks like there is something vital missing. Have not pulled the carb from my bike yet so I am not sure how this should look like. Have been having trouble locating a 32mm second Gen. carb for sale and would hate to see this one slide if it is the whole unit. Note that I am not looking for the breather box or anything - just the carb. Just don´t know what the whole unit would look like when been pulled. Thanks in advance and friendly regards from Iceland (Norway at the moment). Jonas
  24. Thats what my Shrink also says - but neither of you have had this nightmare! No error there Squidley. Would wish though I could get these 1st.Gen carbs in there ! Thanks Bob but these are Second Gen carbs I need like Sqiudley pointed out. Was nice meeting you and the missis this summer and lets make sure we meet in 2011. Thanks Taz, just sent him a message and we will see what happens. Hi there Lynn. Have been meaning to send you a line. Thanks for all the info on the carb swap as well as your outstanding article. Earl Harrel (skydoc1) is going to make the swap for me and if O.K. with you then he might get in touch with you on the issue. Will send you a PM tonight or call soon.
  25. Greetings and happy new year everybody. Been away for quite some time but am over the hill here at my work in Norway and intend to visit the site more frequently. Sadly I wont be able to show up at Freebirds Maintenance day this year but it is on my "to do list" for the year 2011. And since I am not coming then there is this great oppurtunity to do some work on my USA based bike. Had a talk with Earl (Skydoc1) the other night and lured him into doing some engine work on my bike. Want to swap the cams and the measly 28mm carbs for V-Max cams and the 32mm Venture carbs. Parts are in general easy to get except for the Venture carbs. So I was wondering if any of you guys and girls would know of a set lying around in someones garage that would be available. Payment through PayPal or by transferring into account. Or any othe rpreferred payment method by sellers choice. Last but not least - thanks for last summer guys. It was simply unbelievable and I had the time of my life. Still getting nightmares though of BigTom approaching me in womans underwear with a funny look on his face - but my shrink is working on it. All the best from freezing Norway Jonas
