  1. Thanks so much Craig. That would be the best thing to do instead of shipping it to the hotel in New York. Planning the trip as days go by. Will send you a PM with an update Friendly regards from Iceland, (Norway at the moment at work), Jonas
  2. Just send a PM to Skydoc_17. He sells clutch upgrades and will suerly know what you need. He is the clutch expert on this site He will most likely chime in though. He can never stay away if he hears of a member in trouble. Pretty amazing guy to say the least. He also has a lovely wife that speaks a little Icelandic - She is even nicer than him
  3. Thanks Ric. Looking forward to hear from you, Jonas
  4. Greetings ! I am in the process of buying two Nolan N-102 helmets for me and my wife to use on our trip to the USA this coming June. Saves me the extra luggage bringing our helmets from Iceland. I want to have Bluetooth in the helmets but am not sure what to get. Here in Iceland I have the Nolan Bluetooth device in my helmet and it works pretty good apart from that the speakers are lousy to say the least when you play music from the Zumo but I have loaded some music files into the device. Maybe the problem is the transfer of music data from the Zumo to the bluetooth device ?? The GPS and the phone on the other hand has very good sound quality and people I speak with on the phone can hardly believe that I am riding a motorcycle and speaking with them on the phone. Was wondering if any of you have a bluetooth set that would fit the Nolan helmets and has a good sound quality going wireless. I want to be able to be hooked to my GPS, being able to talk to my wife (the other helmet) as well as answering the phone. Is this possible ? Can both helmets answer the phone or can only one helmet take the signal?? Any advice on the bluetooth highly apreciated Would like to avoid going with wire hookup. Friendly regards, Jonas / StarFan
  5. And the adjustable shock. http://partstream2.arinet.com/Image?arik=HGmlWiDPN08AIqv1ydx9&arib=YAM&arim=aJfvK4t72GHZLm2_zpamOQ2&aria=X6-bBK_nWSbZTYfqYmT9ng2&ariz=1
  6. What LilBeaver said. Can´t see what is causing the frustration here. You have limited access when you haven´t paid the dues and it takes a person three minutes to pay. The time factor can´t be the issue here. The princip of not being locked out ? A small price to pay to save Don some work in my eyes. Just my humble opinion
  7. Hi Donald. Walter (wes0778) is right. We both have the hard bags from the Venture and they are simply a bolt on for the Tour Classic II 1998. The saddlebag crash bars are the only thing that are in the way but they can either be bent forward a little or you can make some adapter plates for the frame that will move the bars a little forward. Regarding the Venture trunk then you will need very modest modifications. The only thing I have been able to figure out that needs to be done is to drill holes in the crome fender rail for the bolt that will fasten the bracket the trunk sits on. If you do not fancy drilling a hole, you could just buy used fender rails from a Venture and replace them with the original ones on your bike. I am not sure but I think all the bolt holes will fit. The trunk is a little hard to get unless you have around 3.000 US$ to buy a new one and get it painted. Used ones can be found at Pinwall Cycles and some other salvage motorcycle dealers but the bad thing is that they are usually badly damaged with cracks and broken pieces. Once in a while one that is only scuffed and scratched shows up but these guys tear the trunks apart and sell them piece by piece most of the time to get the most money out of them. Wish you well with your project - I am sure your bike will look great when finished. Last but not least - You have to post pictures of your bike on your profile - thats the law Friendly regards from Iceland, Jonas
  8. You are right Brian, I just used the exchange rate and did a straight calculation on the price. But I do not think it falsely reflects the price - on the contrary I think it gives a pretty true price reflection ! The median household income in Norway for the year of 2009 was 65.000 US$. In USA it was 49.777 US$. This is the average including both genders. So this would mean that the difference in vages is around 23.5%. The cost of living on the other hand is much, much higher in Norway than in the USA. 23% difference in cost of living would be a very modest estimate. For example the gallon of Gasoline in Norway costs around 9,84 US$ at the gas station. A half a liter of Coke costs around 4,40 US$. So go figure,,,,,,,, I personally think that the price of this bike in Norway using the exchange rate gives a fair price idea in US$. Note that I work here and I have a pretty good price comparism between Iceland, Norway and USA. I live in Iceland, work in Norway and have been importing all kinds of goods from USA like cars, motorcycles, musical instruments and the list goes on,,,,, I also travel to the USA around every other year and have a pretty good idea of the cost of living over there as well as general income. I follow up pretty much how you guys are doing over there. Norway is simply the most expensive country I have ever been in and motorcycles here are extremely expensive compared with general income. They are looked upon as luxury and are severly taxed by import. Hope this sheds some lights on the issue. I think that the comparism using the exchange rate is not "False" - I think it is actually "True". Friendly regards, Jonas
  9. I have to admit that Earl is a true friend. :bighug:He even vouched for me on this site and told everybody that I was practically housetrained after spending two nights at his house in 2009 I am still working on it and getting there little by little !
  10. Well Randy. With V Max cams and stiffer springs, 32mm Venture carbs with bigger needles, modified airbox, Dynajet ignition module, V Max Final drive and other goodies I am gonna wait for you at the top of the hill Friendly regards, Jonas
  11. Well Jeff. Aren´t we all a little strange Wouldn´t be much fun if we all rode Goldwings with the same color and look.
  12. Stumbled upon this 1st Gen on a Norwegian web site. Gotta say that this is the nicest 1st. Gen I have ever seen. Would buy it if I wanted a slower bike than my 1998 Royal Star Tour Classic II The Norwegian price on the other hand is something different. Motorcycles here cost an arm and a leg and the wife and the dog to ! 17.743 US$ is the asking price. They have extremely hefty taxes here on motorcycles. But don´t worry - it will go for that price. 13. Dave ! I have to admit that you are one patient man Friendly regards from Iceland, Jonas
  14. What V7Goose said. This should be an easy fault to diagnose. By your description I would guess that the cylinders are not getting any fuel from the carbs. Your mechanic should check that before anything else since you state that there is sufficient spark. Wish you all the best with this - I would not give up on the Venture - Not sure that your Honda dealer will give you the service and warranty Yamaha does Have had two Honda´s 2005 VTX 1300 and 2006 and have to say that these are the crappiest bikes I have ever had. The gearbox cover for example is made of chromed ABS plastic and that bubbles up when the gearoil gets hot. You would not find that on a Yamaha. The front shocks were much to short and jammed together all the time. These were new bikes and the shocks were original and not faulty in any way. Just bad design. I do know though that the Goldwings are very nice bikes and I have ridden one and liked it very much apart from the fairing not turning with the stearing. I would buy one if my user name wasn´t StarFan . Love my Royal Star and intend to stick with Yamaha for their reliability and quality craftmanship. I would not judge the Yamaha/Venture by the problems you have with your bike since there are certain things owners have to watch out regarding general maintenance. My guess is that former owner did not follow general maintenance work like not storing the bike for a long time with fuel in the carbs. By your description I am pretty sure that this is a clog/fuel problem. Wish you all the best with your bike and I am sure that if you get it into the hands of a good mechanic it will be fixed easily. Give the bike a change when it has been fixed and is working properly and then make up your mind regarding shifting to another bike. then you will have a true comparism Friendly regards, Jonas / StarFan
  15. Ok. Have to admit it that you are one clever Texan and that you got me Here is how it should be: Já, svo þú heldur að þú sért klár kall ? Bíddu bara,,,ég næ þér seinna ! 16. Júla, spo þúl hekldur aðr þiú sérbt klásir kralli ? Bídestu barsa,,,égil næber þérus seinnaðastur !
  17. Congrats Rick. Am waiting for that to happen in my life even though retirement is 10-15 years ahead. You are one lucky guy and I wish you and your family all the best and may God bless the little one and you all.
  18. An alterniative is to put softer type rubber washers under the fender washers if you don´t find dished ones.
  19. There are two other add ons I noticed. The chrome piece under the tank that hides the carburators and the neck cover in front of the tank looks like chrome.
  20. Thanks Don. I think I asked him before but I sent him a PM just in case. If not I will just continue scraping the trunk together from various sellers on eBay. See you in June Jonas
  21. Greetings. Have been looking for a Venture trunk for my 1998 Royal Star Tour Classic. Can be found at PinWall Cycles but these clever guys tear them apart and sell them piece by piece $#/$#%#$%%$%####,,,,,So I have started buying things from different sellers on eBay and so far I have bought the Trunk frame and the backrest pillow. If anybody out there in VentureWorld knows of any part for the Venture trunk or a complete trunk that is available then please contact me. Desperately need a trunk so I can make Greta (the boss) comfortable on our trip in the States the coming June. Friendly regards from Iceland (Norway at the moment) Jonas
  22. Actually. thanks to Wes that I decided to install these on my bike. Saw his picture and he gave me the info on where to get these. Thanks Wes - maybe I will stumble upon you this summer ? Who knows
  23. Hi there. If you are talking about bars for the Royal star from 1996 to 2001 (not the Venture) or the newer Tour Deluxe models then you can get these big bars from Baron. www.baronscustom.com http://www.baronscustom.com/catalog/display/747/index.html Have a set that is being installed on my bike- have not seen it yet since I am in Iceland and the bike in USA. Coming in June to try it out and take a late honeymoon with my betterhalf. Seen pictures of bikes with these guards. Looks good.
  24. Thank you Mini for the picture. He is most certainly the person in question and we are already talking. And thanks to you all who chimed in both here and by PM´s. Best regards from Iceland, Jonas and Margret.
