First of all like Squidley said: Carb Sync. Check all vacum lines. Check the Diaphrams (easy and quick to do) Check if all the carbs are getting enough fuel. Check the fuel filter (even though I don´t think that is the problem). I would leave pulling the carbs untill all the easy stuff has been checked. Does sound like a carb problem to me but there are a lot of things that can cause this. Main thing is to start with the easy stuff and move on one thing at a time. You will eventually find the problem. I had a similiar problem and it turned out that one of the plugs for the (,,ehhh,, guess you call them breather plugs -these are the plugs you take off when you attach the carbtune) - was almost torn in half and was not sealing. Ran like a champ after I changed that out. Wish you luck !!
  4. Now that is a familiar picture of a HD - All in pieces Just kidding Eddie. Sure hope that the bike turns out the way you wanted and that you will have loads of fun with it. Hey - and watch out for Cecdoo - His Suzuki is FAAAAAAAST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Best wishes, Jonas / StarFan
  5. If I remember right it is just kind of dangling on the side. I took mine and ziptied it to the passanger grabbars. Let me see if I can find a photo that shows the original position -
  6. This is neat ! Added my location http://mapfling.com/q3hxusg
  7. Congrats on your new bike Tom and Amy Nice looking ride to say the least And Pioneer Motorsports is the greatest dealer I have had the pleasure to do business with, they did a fantastic professional job upgrading the motor among other things on my 1998 Tour Classic. Highly recomended super nice people. Ride safe.
  8. I pull the driveshaft and grease/lubricate everything up once a year. Not really needed that frequently but is a small job to do and makes me feel better. With 22.000 miles on the bike I would have a look at it . Don´t know if there is a write up on the site but if you want to do this and need info then send me a line and I can guide you through it. The main thing is pulling the shaft from the hub, tightening the acorn nuts the right way so the axle bolt is completely loose and getting the shaft together at the front that can be a little pain to do if you don´t know the trick to do it (did it the hard way the first time and took me quite some time to get it to fit together).
  9. What is wrong with that bike ???
  10. Well, we Icelanders tend to put things mildly ! We have to think about the tourist trade. Who would come to Iceland if you would advertise: COME TO ICELAND AND TASTE OUR UNIQUE ROTTEN SHARK ! We have enough trouble with the pressed sheep balls !

May I ask why you are looking specifically at the 2006 and 2007 models ? Did you know that there has been no change that matters from the begining of production in 1999 untill present 2013 model ? It is the same bike except for some minor upgrades like CD instead of Casette player and some different color schemes.
  12. Come on Jeff ! You don´t know what you are missing. When Big Tom was there in July 2011 I had trouble keeping him away from the Shark. He was swallowing it like Icecream on a hot July afternoon. I even promised him to bring some to his Rallie in Chaffee NY, the coming August. I will save some for you if I can sneak a piece away before Tom grabs it all.
  13. When you have lowered the front be very careful having air in the forks at all times and check the pressure regularly. A Venture with a lowered front 1 1/2 inch can damage your front fender if the forks are not fully inflated. If you hit a bump very hard or you go rather fast over a speed bump the bolts under the driving lights can hit the fender and put two dents on the top (see attached picture). I would not take the chance lowering the front anymore than one inch (max).
  14. When I started riding in 2007 I had a look at some leather jackets in Iceland. The cheapest one I could get was for around 300 US$ and it was not a very nice one. So I went online and had a look at some jackets offered from wholesalers in the US. Found a company called "My Leather DOT com" and did not believe the prices they offered. The only catch was that you have to make a purchase for 400 US$ or more. Well "I thought" what the heck. Ordered 5 jackets, boots, a bunch of gloves and some other stuff to fill the 400$ minimum order and to be quite honest I was quite prepared to get some badly made junk. To my surprise these jackets were quite nice, with good armor and the leather is very thick and protective. After five years and quite a lot of use my jacket is still in good shape and will most likely last me at least another five years. I do recommend their products since the quality is quite acceptable. NOTE: These are no BOSS leather jackets but a nice alternative if you don´t want to spend 3-500 US$ on a brand name jacket. Does the job and they look quite nice. And the prices are from 50 to 160 US$ Correction: Website states that buyer needs to have a valid resellers number - guess that does not apply to customers abroad ?
  15. Well Randy it sounds a little strange that you are only getting 150 to 300 listings for the parts since there are usually quite a lot more listed. The way I do it is the following and I will do this now and tell you what I get: ebay.com -> Write "Yamaha Royal Star Venture" in Searh tab Up comes on the top left side: Categories eBay Motors (5,597) Parts & Accessories (5,590) Motorcycles (7) For motorcycles click on the "Motorcycle tab and you will only get the Venture motorcycles listed (I usually write "Yamaha Royal Star" in the search tab to see all Royal Stars listed regardless of Gen 1, models 1996 to 2001 and the 1999 to 2013 Venture). Now for parts and accessories you see that there are 5.597 items listed - a lot to browse through. If you click on the parts and accessories tab then you will see this: Categories Parts & Accessories Motorcycle Parts (5,423) Apparel & Merchandise (58) ATV Parts (68) Car & Truck Parts (32) Manuals & Literature (21) Snowmobile Parts (2) Click on "Motorcycle parts". This will show up: Categories Motorcycle Parts Other Parts (2,268) Body & Frame (1,343) Accessories (405) Brakes & Suspension (383) Lighting (270) Electrical Components (202) Engines & Components (175) Luggage & Saddlebags (83) Intake & Fuel Systems (100) Wheels, Tires (95) Exhaust (50) Antique, Vintage, Historic (27) Transmissions & Chains (22) Cables (9) Parts Bikes (6) Gauges (3) Decals, Emblems (3) Here you can pick out what kind of part you are specifically looking for. This is the way I do it and it works for me. It shows me all parts listed in categories and quite many times I stumble upon something rare and unusual as well as expensive parts for a low price. Bought a complete trunk setup with close to no damage (Trunk, the frame under, luggage rack and extra set of speaker parts that were damaged) for 465 US$. PinWall would ask at least 900 US$ for such an item. Hope this helps in some way but there are quite many different ways to search eBay and many of us use different aproaches. I tried to define the search for O.E.M. parts with very little results. Only got around 19 listings. I think the reason is that the O.E.M. parts are not always listed specifically as O.E.M. for search results. At least this was all I could come up with. I will do some more search approaches today and let you know if I get any further with the O.E.M. and maybe somebody else on the forum knows how to approach this and will chime in. Wish you well Jonas / StarFan
  16. Common you old Pelican ! You actually did better than this
  17. If you ever want to treat your loved one than take her/him to a place in Annville PA for an overnight at Annville Inn B&B. That place is beyond believe ! Stayed there for three nights with my wife Greta when we were in USA on a bike trip in 2011. Greta is still smiling They don´t serve dinner and lunch but the breakfast there is homemade by the hostess Rosalie and everybody staying there sit together at the table. The food was the best I have ever had. And the owners are great people. Made us a picnic basket for a days trip, organized surprise massage for my wife and the list goes on. The rooms are faboulus and very detailed and at least two of them have a balcony. Ohh,, and there is a good sized swimming pool there Tucked a little outside of the small town of Annville in a beautiful country side. If you want to have a look just check out Annville Inn - you will find it on google and Trip Advisor. A side note: I have no business relationship with the owners - It is simply a hidden treasure in East PA that I want to share with you.
  18. I have tried numerous headsets with the aim of getting good quality sound while listening to music. I have not yet tried one that has good sound quality for music. Can´t understand why they can´t make a good one like the small one my wife uses when she is jogging with her MP3 player. Excellent sound quality in these headphones and they would definately fit in a helmet. They were expensive but worth every penny. Is this because of the original amplifier in the Venture being to small or why in the world is this so lousy. Can anybody point out a good quality headphone system for the helmet that allows intercom, telephone, GPS and excellent music quality ?? Wireless or cord - makes no difference for me. I have been using N-com for the past years (wireless) but I never use it for music. It is simply useless for that purpose in my eyes. Loaded some songs into the GPS and,,,,not very nice. Note that I have tried systems with cord as well but never been happy with the quality. O.K. My demands might be a little high but with all this technology this must be available somewhere. I even have thought about getting one of these Stereo/speaker geeks in Iceland to build me something but haven´t gone there yet. So,,,,,what is the far best headset for music quality regardless of price, wireless or with a cord ??
  19. Trying to be nice to him since it his his birthday huh ,,,, I am not gonna take part in this game - - NO WAY. And - HAPPY BIRTHDAY GOOD OLD KAKADU -
  20. I would say nope ! Just an upgraded 1300 V-Star. But with some really nice add-ons I would like to have on my Venture for sure. And the waiting continues,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  21. Well Bill. I have to agree with you that the two tone Emerald Green and Ceramic Ivory are great looking combo. I have two 1998 Tour Classics II with that color combo and really like it (pictures at my profile). I also have a 2000 model Venture with the original two tone red and that is my second favourite color. Having the bike painted in two tone is gonna cost alot more so that is why I decided on going one color Candy Red since I am selling the bike after rebuild. The paint job costs around 1.200 US$ and that is actually cheap here in Iceland being done at a professional paint shop with a very good reputation. This is the price without any take off / put on work. I enjoy doing that myself.
  22. That is one nice transportation.
  23. You can either do as suggested screw in a longer bolt through the welded nut on the inside and put a locknut on the bolt. Second thing you can do is to drill the nut out with 1/2 mm bigger size drill and then make new threads for next size bigger bolt.
