  1. Lynn Nichols (pegscraper) used to make them but have not seen him around here for a couple of years. There is a drawing of the adapter plates in the tech library - any steel shop should be able to make you a set. You would also have to mill 1/8" from the base of the intake boots since the added 1/8"adapter plate will change the position of the carburators and they will not fit in the frame among other position problems. http://www.venturerider.org/carbswap/
  2. Looks like they hit the median seperating the highway from the frontage road. On Tuesday morning there was another sad incident in Florida - A couple that were also Canadians lost their lives in Seminole county, Florida in a motorcycle accident. A spool of wire fell off a truck and hit them. They were pronounced dead at the scene. http://www.wesh.com/news/traffic/2-die-in-seminole-county-motorcycle-accident/24539312#mid=18423390

  7. This is how good Nanci is. My 1998 Tour Classic II looked like a completely different bike after she had reupholstered my seats. Have already made an appointment for a custom fender bib, saddlebag lid covers and a trunk lid cover from her for the "Red Baron" my 2000 R.Star Venture. She is one tough coockie but a loads of fun to deal with http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/SAM_1527_zps5623616c.jpg
  8. Done, and with pleasure Thanks for the great work you have done for me Nanci. Looking forward to getting the custom tank bib You are so gifted.
  9. Second That !!
  10. It is a common problem. Most of my Yamaha bikes have had this problem but I remember that a 1998 Tour Classic I had stayed in position if I turned the choke nob a little bit. Don´t know why it did this but it worked. On my other Royal stars the choke simply wont stay in position. I will have a thorough look tomorrow and see what can be done about this. If I find a sollution I will post. I am sure others will chime in since I know that this has been discussed on this forum before. Just cant find the thread and don´t remember if there was a sollutin. EDITED: Found the thread: While working on a friend's bike the other day, he mentioned that the choke wouldn't stay on by itself. After doing some searching on here, I couldn't find an answer as to how to get it to stay on without simply standing there holding the choke knob out. So I decided that there might be others out there with the same problem. Here's the solution. If you lay down on the floor and look up at the choke knob, just behind it(towards the rear of the bike) there is a hex nut that is held in place by a flat thin locking tab. It looks like a very thin flat washer. See picture below. All you have to do is take is a flat blade screwdriver and straighten out the tab that is holding the nut in place. Then with the appropriate wrench or even a pair of plyers, tighten the nut just enough to start holding the choke linkages in place. This shouldn't take tightening but maybe one flat on the nut. Afterwards, bend the tab back over at any place it's most convenient. Now your choke should stay on until you push it back in. Don't over tighten or it will be hard to push back in. http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Technical/Chokefix_zpscf01ed6e.jpg
  11. Hi Darrin. It is a little tricky and if one does not know the trick then this is a pain. What you do is you take a coathanger wire or any kind of stiff wire and you make a hook on the end. You insert the hook end into the hole that is in the front left side of the swingarm, (covered with a plastic plug) and hook it into the joint of the yoke. Then you just pull the joke joint to the right position. I kind of laid on my back and looked into the swingarm using a small LED light while I was getting the wire in the right position. Took me about five minutes to get this together after I got the right dimension of the hook and so forth made. Also - I remove the driveshaft out of the final drive when I do this and pop it back together afterwards. Much easier just working with the shaft alone in your hands than the full assembly.
  12. Dear Robin and Bob ! We will pray for Jeremiah and I am sure he will come through with flying colors. Our thoughts will be with you and Jereemiah (what a beautiful name). Looking forward to see you in August. Stay strong. Warmest thoughts and blessings, Jonas
  13. Man am I happy that we don´t have to speculate on this in Iceland. Gasoline is a simple choice here. 98 octane or 95 octane. No additives - no complications. You can also have super formula 98 octane called V-Boost but personally I think it does nothng for you except making you spend more money. The downside is that we pay $8,55 a gallon and that really sucks
  14. You are welcome Mark. Just let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
  15. Will call you in the coming days. Terriblie busy at the new work here in Norway - Don´t know what I got myself into !!
  16. Hi Mark. No they don´t pop off. The two screws that hold the plastic covers are hidden behind the hinges. You start by removing the upper three (3) bolts for each hinge from the inside of the trunk lid. Then the hinges are free with the plastic covers attached and you can lift the lid off. If you want to remove the plastic covers then you have access to the screws after lifting the lid away. Here is a picture of the assembly. Note: When reinstalling the trunk lid have somebody help you line the bolt holes in the lid lup with the threads in the hinges. Make sure you have gotten all the bolts started in the threads before doing any tightening. There is very little free play with the hinge screws, but still some. You might want to make sure that the lid lines up perfectly with the bottom and is easy to close and open. If not then loosen all the screws and adjust. http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Maximus/trunklid_zps450c1b0a.gif
  17. You Sissy you,,,, Who would not want to go down to 32 miles per gallon
  18. Aggree Squidley- as stated in my post: Here is a link to the Yamaha instructions and take note of Freebirds suggestions of adding a relay: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/sh...ad.php?t=43898
  19. Is it possible that you have bent the valve ? Did you start the bike up after doing the adjustment and then the valve got stuck or,,,,, ? A gentleman who was installing V-max cams in my 1998 Tour Classic made a mistake and had the timing wrong. He took the bike for a spin and bent the crap out of the rear cylinders valves. Had to replace them all. Hope you wil get this straightened out and wish you all the best with your project - An awesome looking bike to say the least.
  20. I just installed the running lights to my 2000 Venture. Wired it up as Yamaha suggested and opted for having them on with the normal headlight on as well as the high beam (legal in Iceland). Also installed a switch that enables me to turn the lights on/off as well as the fuse that came with the lights. In the installation instructions, Yamaha gives three options for hooking the lights up. 1. On with the normal headlight beam only. 2. On with high beam only. 3.On with both the high beam as well as the normal headlight beam. The one I used (no:3) only requires one to splice the power wire of the lights to the red wire with yellow stripe that goes into the the neutral color plastic/nylon connector in the fairing as well as extending the turn signal wires (harness included with the switch). Am also gonna do the rewiring of the ignition switch to take the stress of the ignition and a relay just in case. 21. Well, you could install V-max cams and stiffer valve springs. Change out the 28mm Mikuni carb and install a 32mm Mikuni from the Venture. Dyna ignition module, and a v-max rear drive, and upgraded clutch. The bigger carbs require a little bit of modifications to the airboxes and other things but makes all the difference. Had this done to my 1998 Royal Star Tour Classic and that bike simply says: I gotta go, I gotta go, I gotta go, I gotta go,,,,,,,,,,,,, The power increase is amazing. Here is a link to some of these modifications: http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=4735
  22. Dear Earl and Jean. These were sad news and you are both in our prayers. Have faith and give Jean a warm hug and a kiss from us here in Iceland. Your friend, Jonas
  23. Be careful when lifting the seat off since the seat has to move a little front to unhook in the back. Seen to many scratches on the tank when people have accidentally moved the seat to much forward and scraped the tank with the bolts that are sticking down from underneath the seat - at least that is how it is with the Corbin seats on the Venture. Not sure about the original Yamaha seat though - but just in case be careful !
  24. He is most likely just very busy pouring asphalt all over Europe. Owns and runs a Asphalt company in Germany. I´ll shoot him an email and she what he is up to !
  25. Dang, was stupid enough to use the colors that would match your bike as well. Question remains if you are flashy enough to try them on your bike when they arrive !
