No, I would never buy a brand new Royal Star Venture. Why ? Do I not like them ? You bet I do. But the prices on used ones are so low that buying a new one would in my eyes be throwing money out the window. But don´t get me wrong. The prices being offered by dealers on 2013 unused Ventures is a GREAT price for a brand new two up touring bike. But lets look at the market. For example a 2008 model with 34.000 miles just recently sold on eBay for 5.400 US$. Tip top shape with a lot of accessories. Thats about 9.500 US$ lower than a brand new 2013 one. Same bike, more accessories and at least 160.000 miles left on the motor if not more . Another example from eBay: A 2008 with a Voyager Trike kit, 17.236 miles. Beautiful bike. Listed for Buy it Now: 8.500 US$ - Seller accepted buyers offer that is lower than the Buy It Now price, but offer price tag is hidden. I would blindly guess 7.500 to 8.000 US$. The thing is, Yamaha´s failure with marketing and supporting these bikes with modest upgrades and accessory´s, like Freebird pointed out, has caused the market to reject them, hence the low price used ones are selling for. I simply love the Royal Stars and for the price I will continue to buy them as long as I need a bike to tinker with and ride. Simply a great bike at a very attractive price. And even the price on a new unridden 2013 is great. I just can´t see why I should spend the money on it when able to get a perfectly good, same kind of a bike, with a lot of accessories for a fraction of the price.

Yes, I bought the harnesses from Steve. What a great product and it is a simple plug and play thingie. Before getting Steve´s harness I had the light bar hooked up with only running and brake lights - no turn signals. Was frustrated since I wanted the whole package so to speak. Wrote a short message on the forum and Steve replied immediately and told me about his harness. He went out of his way to ship this to me as fast as possible and gave me all and every information needed as well as explaining how his harness works (still I don´t have a clue about how this works but don´t need to - IT WORKS Am at the moment installing the bar and the harness to my friends bike. Thanks again Steve for your great product and your helpfulness

I bought a lightbar from superbrightleds.com because it is wider than the ones I have seen available. Here below is the link as well as some pictures. https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/id-bars/braketurn-light-bar-tlb-r11/1027/2482/ I had a backing plate made out of mirror stainless steel to add a little chrome to it and make it wider. Also had some spacers made to bring the bar out a little. Bought a wiring harness from one of our members to have Brake lights, running lights and turn signals. SO when I hit the brake and make a turn signal the turnsignal side flashes on ione side and the brake light is still on on the other side. Really bright and looks good in my eyes. http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Light%20bar/led-tail-brake-turn-light-bar-TLB-R11_size600_zps3c2b0619.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Light%20bar/2Lightbar_zpsf0414a16.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Light%20bar/1Lightbar_zpsa4b03587.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Light%20bar/SAM_2269_zps2863a5f9.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Light%20bar/7Lightbar_zpsd4bb7a65.jpg

The Venture can actually be started by pushing it, put it in 2nd or 3rd gear and hold the clutch in, switch on. Release the clutch when you have the bike rolling and it should start. It actually does not need to much speed but 1st gear - forget it. 2nd as well as 3rd gear did work for me when I had a bad battery and could not get enough power to crank it. Also just recently had to do this when I accidentally left the switch/lights on my Venture. Put the bike in 2nd gear, had a guy push me and off I went. Didn´t take much Lesson learned - Don´t use the kill switch to turn off the bike - use the switch key - unless you are an extremely focused person I am obviously not

I would put my dollars on the battery. Had the same thing happen to my 1998 Tour Classic and it was the battery. No issues after installing a new one.

Dang these are nice seats and the upholstery work looks awesone. Congrats !

And name it KEIKO ? The most expensive 50.000 meatballs ever imported to Iceland No they don´t. It was taken down and sent to Interpol !
-
Thanks all for your nice and encouraging comments. This would not have been possible without the help of my friend Craig Englehart "Cecdoo" but he helped me getting all these parts to Iceland. The bike is no show bike - it is a rider and is ridden, gets dirty and then gets cleaned. I ride it rain or shine without a thought. It is a drag to clean these bikes but simply a price one has to pay when owning and riding a bike. Another one in the pipes. Gonna dress up my friends Midnight Venture (krben - Kristjan) this winter, just having a little trouble this time finding a different kind of a theme so to speak. I´ll post before and after pictures when done. Thanks again all of you. Jonas / StarFan

I am in no ways an expert on stereo systems but this is what I think this is about. To get a better sound out of the Venture system it is not enough just to add speakers with higher watts. You might get a clearer sound with better quality speakers but thats about it. The amplifier in the Ventures system has to have the capacity to drive bigger speakers. putting 150 watt speakers without enough amplification is not gonna change the quality of the sound that much. You need more power to drive them - hence an bigger amplifier. Therefore to get a great sound for the Venture the right way to do it is to add an amplifier to drive bigger speakers. A bigger amplifier is not gonna change the sound of the original speakers since these two things have to match so to speak. Personally I think the Venture speakers are c#%p ! I am sure somebody with good knowledge on this issue will chime in and give some expert advice - and if something written here above is not quite right then please be so kind to correct me I am looking into this myself for my Venture since I would like to have good sound in the system since the original one is not good enough in my opinion.

,,,,,,,,,or just about so. Only missing one thing and that is a custom tank bib in the same material/colours as the seats. Am working with Nanci at Ace High Leather on this now and when that is done the Baron is DONE! Well,,,there is always some chrome that can be added. I do actually have Vance and Hines Monster Ovals for the bike but was wondering if they would scrape when I lean. Dont want to bother putting them on if they drag. Anybody know ? The bike has levelling links so it is a little higher than originally if that helps. I have taking this bike pretty much apart last winter and changed and upgraded a lot of things like swing arm bearings, redid all brakes and changed all fluids, upgraded clutch and bearings and the list goes on and on along with some custom mods. Am really happy with this bike - turned out exactly the way I pictured it..... Looking for another one - A 2000 RED only ! - Anybody ? UNDER CONSTRUCTION THIS WINTER http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/The%20Red%20Baron/SAM_20152_zpscaf765e4.jpg Here are some pictures http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/The%20Red%20Baron/RedBaron7_zps8eaa2b48.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/The%20Red%20Baron/RedBaron6_zpsf46dec60.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/The%20Red%20Baron/RedBaron1_zps6be917e1.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/The%20Red%20Baron/RedBaron4_zps65565de1.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/The%20Red%20Baron/RedBaron2_zps829088ec.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/The%20Red%20Baron/RedBaron3_zps1ea5a7f7.jpg

That is one nice jeep Caveman and these are so much fun to drive. My sister had one of these - a 207 model and just recently upgraded to the Sahara (lon version). Man I love these jeeps.

Well actually 1999 to 2013. Discontinued in 2014 Now lets hope for a new Venture in 2015 even though I doubt Yamaha will come through so soon

Oldogde ! This is a common thing to happen. No need to worry. The plug has simply popped out. What I would do to begin with is pushing them back in, put a small piece of thick double tape on the end of the plugs and reinstall the fins and tighten them good. Just make sure to neutralise the finside of the double tape so the fins wont drag the plug out if you remove the fins for cleaning or other purposes. Is it possible that the fins were not tighten good ? They actually push the plugs and keep them in place. If you do the double tape thing then have the dealer get you some new plugs and check the ones that you have installed for defects. Some people just put a dime on the plugs before bolting the fins on and it works as well. I used the double tape trick with a 1998 tour Classic I had and never seen a drop after doing that.

Yes they are and quite loud. But make no mistake - they do not outscream airhorns. Chrome is nice This has been an option as long as I have had a Royal Star (from 2008) but they are pricey. Cost around $200 for the pair. Got mine "old Stock" $for 130 on eBay. Yes they kind of do. They come with some steel strips with bolt holes - only minor modification needed to these strips and a little imagination where to put the horns. Opted to put one where the original horn was on the right side and fastened the one on the left side to the passenger footrest if I remember right.
-
Some months ago I posted a thread about a nice Chrome horn option for our bikes from Sickspeed. The bad was that they were out of the Chromed ones and many of the members seemed interested in these chromed horns. So I decided to let you all know that are available now in Chrome: EBAY Item no: 111389849921 To get the full blast out of them then you have to wire them through a relay, at least if you hook two up on your bike ! http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Sickspeedhorns_zps20b2530b.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Horn/2Horn_zpseb5363c2.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/Horn/1Horn_zps6535672a.jpg

Front Fender Bumper?
StarFan replied to Bodaggit23's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
It is the original one from Yamaha - I just cut off the front lower tubing and added some lights myself. Here is a link to the write up I did on the forum: http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21161 -
Front Fender Bumper?

Clutch slipping - upgrade help needed
StarFan replied to Mover's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Like Big Lenny said ! This is a very easy thing to do. Skydocs kit comes with complete information on how to do this and is bullet proof. I´ve done this three times and had no problems at all. There are no adjustments to be made - this is simply a bolt out - bolt in job. I think the most time consuming work is removing the old gasket from the cover and the housing. Has to be very clean befiore installing the new gasket to prevent leaking. Also tightening torques should be done according to the specs. Note that the torque for the new spring is very low - don´t over tighten it ! Just dig into it and take it one step at a time. We will all be here if you need guidance ! -
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAREST VICKY ! ENJOY THE DAY ! WE MISS YOU GUYS ! JONAS, GRETA AND THE GANG !
