New Driver Backrest Using OEM Parts
calperin replied to AL GUY's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Hey it looks nice. What about to install a second backrest. I mean, I have one for the passenger, but I don't want to take it off. Just add another one for me. What it takes to hold it. I cannot see very well the mounting system you made. Any chance to post 1 or 2 pictures without the seat? Thanks Carlos -
What is this plug??

First is first: What are you doing with a first gen???? Those connectors can be used for: Speakers, Turn lights, or even coil connections. The green color is the one on those connectors that I don't remember. But it seems to be turn light for me. May be I'm wroing Regards, Carlos PD: Let me know if I need to open mine to compare. -
I'm at the office right now, but I can tell you since I modified my VR'84 as an after 86 that the remote control has more than those two buttons. As soon as I get back I'll post the picture. There are two pots and two that slides.

Don, You are totally right. I receive that e-mail on less than a minute after setup my account. For those that have concerned on the SS#, the transaction is encrypted. So it is so secure as any other bank transaction, and they don't asked for my bank account. They put credit of 25$ on the new account. So, so far the only risk it will be the chance that they sell this info, in such case we know who they are. Regards

First at all, I want to thank all and everyone for the help. We never feel alone when the problems show up... Now, the winners are Carbon_One and Salty_dawg. They report the problem has to be around the battery. The positive has a bronze contact that looked as strong, but after shake the cables, it slided. As soon as I enforce the pressure on the bolt, power come back and never failed again. Also, the backfiring that use to had minimized, so I have to believe that this microcuts on the power are totally related to this contact issue. However, is important to think about all the problems reported by you guys. That can show up with the time. To all of you
-
Well, the ground is not loose, only the upper side of the bolt is a little rust but not even close to the cable contact. What is the ignition switch issue? I test at lunch the bike, and now only way to make it power is pressing the brake lever a little, but still everything electric is crazy. Thanks :confused24:
-
Hey Peg, how have you been? Can you tell me more about that switch problem. Now, I need to press the brake to get electricity, and after stop the bike, I didn't get any more power. It is going to be a long walk back home....
-
Ok, good point. I'll check and let you know. I have no clue about the ignition switch. but the handles looks the same. What is the problem with the switch? Thanks

This morning, I stated & warmed my RSTD'97 and after a couple of blocks, once on the highway it start failing, then I realize that all my electricity was gone. No reading on the mileage LCD Display, slowing almost totally. Good think I was on the side of the highway, I take first exit, and stated to see how slowly it tried to get dead. then suddenly power show up. And after speeding a little dead again, and like this a couple of times. Trip marked 91 miles, but when power come back the tank light started to be almost iluminated. then went off again, and this happened a couple of times. After run a couple of blocks back home suddenly everything come back normal. Anyone has a clue what is going on? Did someone else has a problem like this? Any info will be highly appretiated. (Over all because I finally drove to my job, and now I'm 20 miles from home....)

Ok, I went to progressive. I used to pay 650$ for my VR'84. Now, I'll pay 660$ a year for both my VR'84 & my RS'97. Same coverage, and including Road Assistance that I didn't have before, since I'm AAA premium. Also, I can take off the Deductible for Comprehensive & Collission on winter, since the bikes are not being used, and that will make it cheaper. State Farm didn't let me do that in the past.... So, just to let you guys know. Regards, (That is what you feel when you get more for you bucks....)
-
Welcome to the raped club. State Farm has been doing that for long time. I talked 4 times with my agent, and allways was a no as an answer. No chance to put the bike on storage on winter and reduce payments (as another insurance does), and almost 700 $ for a VR'84. I went to Progressive for a quote, and for my two bikes (VR'84 and RS'96 the asked 650 with better coverage.). I didn't tried GEICO yet, but I know a couple of members that have Progressive and no problem when they were involved on accidents.

I have the saddlebags from same manufacturer. I never installed since they are too small. Also, there are some members complaining about key issues that broken after a couple of weeks and service terrible. I don't even think on use mines, I'll sell those that comes with my 96 RSTD (previous owner bought them). Regards,
-
Hey, This couple takes his time to be sure about this? Are you sure now? Ok, too late to rething this. Congratulations. See, it didn't heart. Now, what will be next? Carlos

Well, finally today the J&M CB Solo radio show up. I plan to install it on the RS96. Now, I have the J&M headset too but it seems that I need to replace the lower cable from the 5 pins to the 6 pins for this radio (I use the 5 pins with the VR 84). Did someone here has used the same headsets with different lower cable? the manual is talking about some special models, but I really can't find wich model are my headsets. I know that I bought it two years ago, and comes in a sale from a goldwing dealer, and it works perfect on the VR. So, every update on this will be highly appretiated. :detective: :stirthepot:

I get the same bike, yes the cables are the problem. Change those and you will have no longer that anymore. :stirthepot:

What gas mileage do you get ?
calperin replied to greg_in_london's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
This has been asked so many times, and for me is each time a great bad taste on my mouth.... In my VR 84 I got between 42 & 44 mpg (US). On my RS 96 I cannot get any better than 34 to 36 mpg. Newer engine only 6900 miles. Who said the newer the better???:sick::sick: -
Larry, Amazing, excelent job. Now, no more accidents please if you want to modify your bike, go for another excuses to do it.... Regards, Carlos :rotf:

Eddie, I need to take of the spider webs of the bike this afternoon. If I can make it start may be I'll join you guys at Big Boy. If not, I'll be for the breakfast. Did you receive the order for the two patches? Regards, Carlos
-
Don, you make me feel guilty. I can send you the 3$ difference. Don't want to try advantage. Eddie, I want 2 of the big ones. I can pick them myself. We are close to send them on mail. Regards,
-
Ok, You 'll get an order for 4 patches. Good that we don't pay fees, if not I'll going to have to pay four subscription

Are not both the same engine without ISA module on the RS? (The computerized control of the carbs). Mine is a 1300 CC, that everybody says is the same engine....

Ok, About the issue that everybody talks about energy necesary to do the electrolisys. With the right frequency you can make the H2O vibrate close the resonancy frequency and accumulate energy enough to liberate the necessary ions of the HH0. The electronic for that has been already solved, and there is a couple of providers that are able to provide now the right equipment. I was digging about if someone already tried. I'm accepting on spent a couple of hundred dolars to test the system. If it fails, I'll not getting poorer for that, if it works not only save money, also help the environment, since the combustion product will be only watter. I saw the video from New Zeland, and nobody was able to explain how the bike works. But even when you see to machine running normal, the interview scientist says it is impossible, however you can see when the reporter fill the tank with watter. Also, researching on the internet, It is amazing that the few people working on this project had died for misterious reasons not long ago. Regards,

Ok, as in every other forum this question is an obligation: "Who has already deployed HHO on their bike?" Someone already had the chance to integrate the electrolyzer system on their bike injecting HHO? Only saw a video from New Zeland with a bike with the system, and a picture from a guy on US who reported to install it on hiis bike. Any updates on this? What about get about 60 or 70 MPG without affecting the engine? Any experience? The ball is bouncing on your side.... :stirthepot::stirthepot:
