  1. Thanks so much for all your prayers. Im still in thunderbay hospital and still am numb from the chest down but today was my first official physo appointment and i think things went well. Im finding that my left knee is weak as jello and unless i can see my feet i really dont know where they are while standing. Talk about new experences! But God has been good to me. Hes allowed my wife to visit for four whole days when they originally told us a max of 2 hours once period due to covid restrictions. Found out my surgeon is a believer as well and was encouraging prayer to his patients. Met a retired teacher who underwent disc replacement in his neck and had many late night talks when pain kept us awake and was able to pray with him. So even in the midst of something that has left me asking God why? Ive seen his hand at work and i am humbled. Praise his name
  2. Hi to everyone i havent been a member long but ive really enjoyed all of the help and support that has been offered on this site. I m laying in a hospital bed right now in Thunder Bay Ontario after being blown off a curve. Theyve pinned my left femur back together and fused my back from my lower neck to below my shoulderblades. I went into the surgery with full muscle control and feeling. No numb spots and all responses were normal. This is day three after the surgery and im still numb from the chest down and very little muscle control in my left leg. I cant tell if im moving my feet and legs unless i can see them. Doctors have run mris and cts and things look good but the numbness cant be explained other then swelling of the spinal cord. So im asking for prayers. Im asking for a flood of them. If a centurion could approach Jesus with the faith that just Jesus saying the words be healed would be enough and a bleeding women with the faith in a single touch of Jesus's cloak would heal her i can boldly approach the throne and humbly ask for the healing touch of our Lords hand and i would appreciate it if you would join me there in prayer these next days and weeks. Thankfully my wife has been allowed to visit yesterday and today but with lockdowns due to covid that will be the only chance i will have of seeing her for a long while. Through it all blessed be the name of the Lord
  3. What type of ford axle? Like a 60's or 70's car axle or something more specific?
  4. That bike would be an interesting rainy day project if your comfortable with doing the work and have the space and tools. Extra hands would make it easier moving those engines around as well. Resale value won't be fantastic but talk them down on their price and you could do alright down the road. I wouldn't be scared of buying a bike like that.
  5. Its fun to rip around in town with. Tops out around 120 kms or so depending on the wind. Its sized like a 650 with a good sized tank and it pulls well for a 250 with a descent sounding exhaust. Riding it it feels like an older 250 ninja and we put a pro taper bar on it after bending the stock one, that raised the bar an inch or so. Im 5,10 and find the ride position good for about an hour or two but my son is taller and finds it bothers his knees on longer runs. Good beginner bike and fun to hop on and burn through some corners. It came with the full sport bike fairings but the previous owner has scrapped those and built his own tail assembly. We've played around with the lights and a few other things. Original parts can be hard to find even from hyosung.
  6. Well here the current stable! We now have an 07 hyosung gt250r, an 85 shadow 750, and a 98 vulcan 800. The 89 vr is going to have some competition on garage space.
  7. Is there anything specific that your looking for? Was there any problems with the bike when you bought it?
  8. No harm in checking the valve lash. Every bike gets treated differently and its hard to spot a bike thats been frequently overheated in traffic or one thats lived its life bouncing off the rev limiter.
  9. Nothing is really work, unless you'd rather be doing something else.
  10. Evel knievel often said Anyone can jump a motorcycle. The trouble begins when you try to land it.
  11. I agree with marcarl the wire isnt under the foot. And theres an empty space where there obviously should be a sticker. Very sloppy!!! What is the world coming to? Im sure a quick trip could solve the missing sticker so grab a dart and a map and forget about packing!
  12. My work in progress 89 vr Drilled in a bunch of leds into the reflectors on the back last night and bench wired them over lunch Added a full strip on the top reflector as a third brake light and two small strips as running lights. Plan on wiring them in on the trailer circut.
  13. Was looking on kijjiji and saw a 98 vulcan classic 800 with wire spoke wheels and padded sissy bar for 2800 cdn. Has anybody owned one of these bikes? Im kinda thinking of getting it for my son. Just wondered what you guys thought of that bike and if theres anything to look out for. Thanks.
  14. Its usually the brand you want that is out of stock. I have a good snowmachine jacket that i use when the weather is 30 or colder and a cheaper pair of hwk armoured pants to protect the knees. The one thing i depend on is a good baklava. Keep the wind off your jawline when the windchill kicks in.
  15. We have a farm and wrap silage bales each year. We typically order the next years wrap in august and its usually on a barge coming up the Mississippi before freezeup and we can pick it up in Minnesota over winter. This year there are no dock hands no forklift opperators no one at all at the docks or warehouses to unload the barges because they are making more staying at home then working. We are sourcing wrap from Europe this year because the stuff from Argentina is stuck on a dock somewhere along the mouth of the Mississippi and may not move for months yet.
  16. Look up antique chain walker or wire walker. Some similar designs from the early 1900 to 1940s
  17. Maybe this is what some wives would use on auction day to keep their husbands from buying stuff. Theyd hook the two little hooks in their husbands nose and the two big hooks around his ears and if he even looked like he might bid on that horse or mule they'd grab the handle and steer him away. Maybe thats why your dad got it at the auction, the previous guy was able to slip away without his wife noticing!
  18. Post this on one of the steam threshers sites. Some of the tools theyve used back in the day put some of our current day tools to shame in regards to ingenuity.
  19. Molly Ivins was a journalist who passed away in 2007 heres a few things she said: Being slightly paranoid is like being slightly pregnant, it tends to get worse. You can't ignore politics no matter how much you'd like to. We should all laugh more at our elected officials, its good for us and good for them. You could probably prove, by judicious use of logarithms and congruent triangles, that real life is alot more like a soap opera than most people will admit.
  20. 30 pounds of chocolate later somebody come pick up my kids! Took them on a 4 mile bike ride and they are still bouncing off the walls. Why do the same grand parents that told us that one bunny and a couple of eggs were quite enough suddenly have the strange desire to give their grandkids their own weight in chocolate! Good thing i was in charge of hiding the eggs otherwise those kids would have found everything! Now theres 20 pounds of chocolate hidden in the back of the freezer under the frozen veggies good luck finding those eggs kids! God bless you folks and happy Easter!
  21. How does that kit work? I see how the stator plate and the cover change the oil clearances but what is the purpose of the wire? Keep in mind i haven't had any coffee yet so maybe it will make sense after an IV of java
  22. Good job with taking the training. Its definitely a better way of gaining confidence then just "heres the keys good luck". Some places offer more indepth courses that even seasoned riders can benefit from. Either way dont let that bike gather dust!
  23. I shouldnt have watched those videos now i want to go riding! Last night dropped a nice skiff of snow and its below freezing so i guess its back to the honey-dew list instead. 😢 Or fishing
  24. Guess the key is to figure out what random thing is going to be the next big seller and start collecting. Any favorites from younger days? Maybe someone will put electric motors on those big wheel mattel trikes. Gocart tires in back, motorcycle wheel with an electric motor mounted inside. Could be fun!
  25. I was going to modify "hollow out" a fuel tank off of another bike and use it to cover the battery, air box, electrical. I was going to make a housing behind the light which should be out of sight to hold the larger of the components and and try to mount the speedo cluster from an rsv on the tank. The center computer i was going to mount in a speedo pod up front with volt and temp in another. No radio or cruise planned unless i can find enough room under the fake tank to hold the actuator. The air ride controls would be moved to the saddle bags since once your moving they dont get used. Am i missing anything? Still trying to decide how to tackle the side panels below the seat. Might make extensions to run below the modified tank and fill in above the rad. Have to decide on steel or fiberglass for that. See what looks better. Have leds to turn the reflectors on the bags into running lights and third brake light ideas still planned. Ive got parts waiting state side for the border to open so i can pick them up.
