  1. Put me down for one. I just ordered a Carbtune so I could use it. Norm
  2. My '99 already had the Harley light set on the back so I bought a replacement for the tail light bulb. It is a board of LED lights that fit right into the stock lens and plug into the regular light socket. Here is the web page for bikerhiway.com where I got them. http://www.bikerhiway.com/led-tail-light-for-yamaha-road-star-and-vstar-p-176.html I also bought a LED strip that screws in right at the bottom of the trunk but I can't remember who I bought it from. I thought it was big bike parts.com but I just went on their sight and couldn't find it. The guys last year at Pork in the Pines said it made a big difference and made the back end very visible. Norm
  3. Here is a link where I got my LED tail light. It looks great and is nice and bright. It plugs right in where the regular bulb goes and is held in by the screws that hold the lens on. I use the stock red lens cover. Norm http://www.bikerhiway.com/led-tail-light-for-yamaha-road-star-and-vstar-p-176.html
  4. It just so happens I walked out into the garage this week to find a puddle of oil underneath the rear shock of my 99 Venture. It has just over 20,000 miles. 14,000 have been put on in the last 2 years I have owned it. Last year someone on this site recommended South Seattle Sports Plaza for parts. In looking for a replacement for my shock they seem to be the best price, $449.62. Norm http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com
  5. It is great to hear Gary is doing good. He is a great guy. I also had the pleasure of meeting and visiting with Gary last year at Pork in the Pines. Gary take it easy and do what you are told. Have a speedy recovery. I am looking forward to this years Pork in the Pines. Norm
  6. I've bought 2 battery tenders from Walmart for around $20.00 and have used them on my Virago and my 1st gen without any problems for several years. When I bought my '99 Venture the guy I bought it from gave me the Battery Tender brand. He already had the connectors hooked to the battery and come out from the side cover so I just park it and plug it in. In Montana it will sit for a few months before it gets ridden again. Norm
  7. Bob I had some Acrylic Resolene by Fiebing's that I bought from Tandy several years ago. It is just to protect the leather and leaves it what ever color the leather is. I applied it to my new VR belt buckle and it just gave it kind of a nice shine. The graphics stand out a little better. When you get yours to the color you want you might try applying the Resolene for protection Norm
  8. Thom The buckle made it to Montana also. Thanks for your efforts. It looks great. Gives me an excuse to make another belt to go with it. From the response it looks like you were very busy mailing. Thanks again. Norm
  9. Larry, That was a great road. The only problem was it wasn't long enough. Glad to hear you are home safe. Kim & I enjoyed the Sunday morning ride. Norm
  10. I too would like to thank all those who helped put on the Pork in the Pines weekend. It was our first. We enjoyed meeting everyone. The food was the best and the rides through the country side were beautiful. If anyone gets to Eastern Montana look us up. The rain was all saved up and dumped on North Dakota as we drove through Monday. We made it home safely but were a couple of drowned rats. Norm & Kim ( the Montanans )
  11. Thanks Brad I'll see what I can do!! Norm
  12. I have a 99 Venture and last summer every once in awhile I would have to bump the key a little to make contact. I bought a new ignition switch this spring from yamahasportsplaza.com for $125.00. I pulled the tank to replace the switch to find out the two bolts that hold it in are the anti theft type that are rounded so you can't use a wrench and they don't have slots for a screw driver Does anyone know how to get the bolts out??
  13. I purchased a luggage rack from bigbikeparts.com. I paid $81.95 and it is now listed for $99. I never put it on my '99 Venture because the guy I bought the bike from had already put a rack on it when I went to pick up the bike. Since I don't need it I am willing to sell it. If you are interested in it go to bigbikeparts.com search part #52-610 and then click on the line for that part and it will bring up a picture. It is still in the bubble wrap. I'll sell it for $60.00 plus shipping. Let me know. Norm mcds@midrivers.com
  14. Thanks for the information on the web site. I was just going to order some parts but this will save me a few bucks.
