  1. I have the 4-2-4 on my solo RSTD, loud is okay/fun for round town or a day ride. I had Road Kings on my RSV, my two up bike. Like them more than stock. Two different bikes, for me, for two different reasons, so two different sounds. I don't want to hear loud for a 500 mile ride. And,,, then there's my GW trike. Sounds like a car,,, a car missing one wheel.
  2. Eck, HEY THANKS. I will look at it this weekend. Glad to know this does not sound like a dealer fix. Mike G in SC
  3. Eck, Cowpuc, Another GW trike shift/start question: I got a 2008 GW Trike several months ago. I know little about it (compared to my Venture & RSTD). Seems when I got it, (like the Venture) if it was parked in 1st gear, I could start it while pulling in the clutch. Lately, I can not start it unless it is in neutral. And sometimes neutral may be a little tricky to find, depending on how the bike is sitting. Anyhow, before I think dealer, is there also a common fix for this? Thanks, Mike G in SC
  4. Active STAR rider here. Attending STAR Days. Been to several over the last 10 years. Not sure WHY it is in Sharonville (north Cincy) OH. Doesn't seem to be a bike friendly area (stopped there coming back from last years Longmont CO). But the ride coordinators say they have some good stuff planned. Mike Griswold (Mike G in SC)
  5. I got it in Fort Mill, NC a couple of weeks ago for $1.38. That was the lowest I have seen in this round. I see local is back up to about $1.70 in mid-SC. But,,, as it is going back up,,,, so is my 401K. It seems pretty well married to the oil game.
  6. SilverT, I turned off Cortana. Just asking, why Edge? In favor of,,, IE, Chrome? What browser are you suggesting? (I see IE is available. I thought they dumped it? ) Also, my wife's native W10 was using Chromium instead of Chrome. What is that? Thanks, Mike G in SC
  7. Thanks SilverT, I saw that in the thread. Will go for that if the software has issues with W10. I believe that IBM and Cisco have updated the clients I will install for newer windows. Again, Thanks. Mike G in SC
  8. So much for opting out on the W10 upgrade..... got hijacked. It forced it's way in, without my assistance. Kind of like "Invasion of the Body Snatchers",, I fell asleep and it just happened. When I got to my W7 PC this morning,,, it had a blue screen that said WELCOME TO WINDOWS 10. No options to stop it. I tried hard boot and came back to same screen. SO,,, WELCOME TO WINDOWS 10. Fortunately last week I got my wife a new mid-priced HP W10 laptop at Cosco with W10, so I had learned a little about it. I had read much of this thread last week and was glad to see the consensus is pro W10. I had discussions with others that were not good. But for my desktop,, now on W10, so far okay. I did loose my XP mode that had some work clients. But should be able to reinstall on 10.
  9. If the new grips has the 4 screws on the end like a Kuryakyn ISO, you can buy end weights from Kuryakyn or Barons. I got the Barons. You may or may not need them, depending on if you get vibes.
  10. Greg, You're in best hands with the folks at Extreme in Sumter, my favorite shop. Hope your bike is clean,,, Matt gives me hell about my dirty bikes.
  11. Greg, you live in Camden, SC ? I'm not so far, LIKE ACROSS THE RIVER! Haha. Lugoff SC. I'm riding tomorrow but if you want to swing by Sunday we can take a look at what you are doing. I do have the Baron's on both bikes but went back to stock height. Seems that if you lower that much, you need to relocate the rear caliper (IE: Baron's kit) so you do not hit the fender. Let me know. Can PM you my phone number. Well, without area code cell is 420----3388. Mike G in SC
  12. In South Carolina you can renew your drivers license with DD-214 in hand and they will print VETERAN on the front. This may help with a business that offers discounts to Vets, if they want some proof. And, I often ask a business if they offer Veterans discounts, many will go ahead and give you the military discount if they have one. (But I keep a shrunk copy of my DD-214 in my wallet anyhow.)
  13. I am a vet, "disabled vet - zero %", which means that I had some medical issue of note while I served but it does not get compensation. But this is not on the DD-214. I don't think DD-214 states disabilities. If I want to use it (for any given advantage) I believe I need to get the VA to issue me a document stating such. It is on my Round-To-It list. (RTI) So Joe, when I got my CWP in SC, I did not have said documentation and paid the $50. Anyone here done this? I am retired and got more time for RTI's
  14. Yes. Actually, I married my last "key punch operator". "IO, IO, it's off to work we go!"
  15. Miss my old gear at work.
  16. No venting, looks electric. Not big on headlights, limited night driving. Funny,,, it makes the Smart Car look big.
  17. Magnawake, Will have to try out Wizz's. Our STAR chapter has several members in the Lexington SC area. Some still ride Yamaha's! (any interest in Columbia chapter, PM me) School House BBQ is a good country buffet but they should take BBQ from the name. They only have one serving dish with pulled pork, vinegar flavored like Lexington, NC BBQ. Not SC mustard base. Just ate there a few weeks ago. (Hi Joe. Sorry, I don't get on line much anymore.) Try JK's House of Ribs in Manning SC for BBQ. Try Sadie Mae's Cafe' below Gaffney for a country meal that will make you doubt your grandma's cooking.
  18. Looks like a guy could supplement his retirement pulling that to bike events.
  19. I saw the Delta crash happen on TV. They replayed the audio between driver and spotter after the crash. Driver "why didn't you tell me he was there?". Spotter "I spent the last full minute telling you there is a car stopped in turn one, I said it over and over, car in turn one!!!!" They had a failure to communicate.
  20. As I save $500 this year in gas,, I'm watching my 401k loose enough to buy a new 2016 V-max powered Venture.
  21. Yeah, me too. Years ago with the lottery came to SC, me and my two close coworkers made a pact that if one of us won the big one, he/she would make sure the other two got out of debt. We continued to state this over several years. Well when a big dollar price was going to happen, I said, "you got your tickets yet?" They both said, "I've never bought a ticket, how does it work?"
  22. Also, let Carbon One know what jack you have. Seems like years ago I needed an adapter, he had to send me later.
  23. I never learned how to use the entertainment center on my RSV. I once used the CB (listen only, don't have a mike) on a long distance group ride I led (as tail gunner requested I could at least listen!). So, an hour later someone spoke up and scared me like a truck blasting his horn. I did manage to find the volume knob. So, it has a radio too?
  24. Wendell, I'm the guy who got and posted the $22 Amazon fuel pump (and got my share of negative comments, seems too cheap to be real I guess). The seller did state it has a check valve which was a concern for some, including me. Pay attention to which is IN and OUT lines. The extra nipple on it is simply for venting, and does not connect to anything. Mine is doing just fine, 3 or 4 months now. Let us know how it goes. At that price, I did buy a spare. I also posted a couple of years ago on how to gravity feed to bypass the fuel pump. That test could have let you know if it was the pump or filter. Good luck, hopefully that $22 investment will make it go.
  25. Sorry Don. Yes talking about the lower vent replacement Plexi, in first part. But then I got wordy. I was just commenting on the fact that the Knee blockers were a terrific product that Buddy primarily sold. I bought a set for each bike and for some friends. As did a lot of us. So, that was just meant as a FYI in case the questioner had interest there. Mike G in SC
