    I got one for my RSV last March. Great shield, great customer service. Yeah, wish they made them for the RSTD. I got the stock height, extra wide. I didn't get the vent, kinda wish I had. But the Clearview on my RSTD has a vent and,,, don't use it much. But, F4,,, good stuff.

But not our size yet. The link above is an article that has pictures and describes the new tread design and extended mileage claims. Michelin is pretty happy but I like the old design. Says they will come in 15 sizes. For the front, it does not include our stock size (150/80/16) but does carry the "small front", 130/90/16. Rear, they do have our 150/90/15.     A guy on my STAR forum has a black & white 1998 RSTC (nice looking, added Venture package). He is lookin for wide white walls, he is only finding Dunlop 404 www and Brigstone www. (I think the sizes are: front 150/80/16 and rear 150/90/15) Anyone know of more choices to fit that bike? Thanks, Mike G in SC

    The RSV is more complicated to lower than I want to do. My shop wants 4 hours to do it. I would like to drop it an inch (rear is already lowered 3/4"). I live in mid SC. Anyone in SC and maybe GA or NC skilled in lowering the RSV front? Will gladly pay a reasonable labor fee,,,or donate to a cause. (Sorry, cause cannot be political or religious,,, hehe.)     I mentioned this last year, but it glossed over. My daughter runs a small "package forwarding business" called "Box Voyage". http://boxvoyage.com/ She picked up the business two years ago from my son who had lived in Sidney. Yes it is a business so there are fees, but the idea is that you purchase your on-line item and have it shipped to her in the US (St. Mary's GA). Then they reship (repack or consolidate shipments if needed) to your non-USA address. The basic premise is $13 fee for a single package plus actual shipping costs. You pay her through PayPal before she ships the package. I think they (her and her sister-in-law) also do shopping for people but that's beyond me. Anyhow, this is a possible answer for you who cannot get a US company to ship direct to you or want to really jack up S&H costs beyond reason.     Ah, the answer is SOUNDRACER audio plug-in's http://www.soundracer.se/ They got them to make your 1995 Ford Escort sound like a Ferrari V12,,, FROM THE INSIDE! So, they could come up with Vance & Hines Shotguns Bluetooth for your full face helmet!!! CRANK IT UP!

    About a year back, on this forum, some of us from SC got into a "love fest" about the continual good service of the Sumter SC Yamaha dealer. I did a copy/paste of the article and took it to the dealer. YES, it made their day. The service writers wife got teary eyed and it was passed around to everyone in the dealership. So, great idea. Just like all of us, they love a complement. Mike G

    Jerry, The steering does sound like a low tire, maybe the steering head bearing too tight. Could also be the brand of tire (Brimstones?). Yamaha does sell lower vents for the RSTD and the RSV, I have them on both of mine. They do more good in the winter to keep the cold off you. In the summer you can direct them inboard but it tends to push heat out on your legs. They are water cooled and yes, hotter ride at lower speeds. But I ride one every day and today is 100 degrees and tomorrow,,, 103. You wern't wearing no Florida flip-flops were you? There is a guy on the STAR Touring fourm with two RSTD's for sale, Al Baker. I thought he lives in FL but his bikes are in GA just above Atlanta. He knows bikes, he was a former SE director for ST.     Just talked to Mike H. (still in WI) Dealer thinks it is the starter circuit relay. Has one on order. (Good guess, Al @ Extreme Sports- Sumter SC) Bummer, it did stop him from joining his buddies on the trip. Mike G

    George, That's a yes and a no. The set on my RSTD for the last 3 years really are mellow compared to the Khrome Werks I put on the RSV. Guess we need to meet up and find out. Hey I got an APP for that!! DB meter on my I-phone! Loudest buys,,,,, lunch. But,,,, the set of 4-2-4 I got for my RSV (after the Khrome Werks),,, yep LOUD. I even got them down some by re-packing the baffles. They are now in the barn! With my trip from SC to Wisconsin a few weeks ago, I went back to stock. You know what,,, now,, I kind of like the stock,, on the RSV. My reference to the "tin can" was about the KW "tips". The mufflers were okay. Just no weight or thickness on the tips. (I got the 15 degree slant.) Hence, suggesting Warior go with the Barons' tips.

    I have two sets of 4-2-4's. Both have the Barons's smaller "family jewels" scalloped tips. They look solid, thick, about 1/4" thick steel (or whatever they are), chromed, heavy. When I got some Khrome Werks, the tips were just tin cans, near the same price, I think. Keep life simple, just get the Baron's tips.     Just talked to Sumter SC dealer, Al at Extreme Sports. He also suggested the ignition,,, 'Starter Circuit Relay' specifically. He said Sleeperhawk had a similar problem after some rain. Figured moisture got in there and was shutting it down after about the same time/temp. Replaced it. Seems like they replaced mine also when they were chasing a start problem. Mine turned out to be the ignition switch it's self,,, but that was a no spark issue when starting. Don't know if dealer will have one on hand, but same part does fit other Yamahas. Maybe the other dealer has that part if they don't. Hope they get it today so you can head west! MIke G

    Mike, Good talking just now. I will check with my local dealer for any suggestions. On the gravity feed, try a straight connection between the petcock and the carb input. Could still be filter. AND VR, Mike said he has got 3 calls this morning - Good Group here! He is headed back to the dealer in 1/2 hour. Mike G

    I have a used (10k miles) Kumho tire that was on my used 2009 Venture when I bought it in September 2010. I replaced it with a MC tire. Tire is in fine shape and has been sitting in my carport since then. If you are in my area (mid-SC) and would use the tire for yourself, come get it. I figure a fair barter would be a 12 pack of cold bottled Bud. Tire should be good to let you know if you want to go dark side with little investment.
