Nice pick up on the cup. But I think if you tried that with a Venture,,,, someone behind you might bring you a bike part that looks like yours!

If you were hitting flying monkeys with the antennas, then maybe. Spray WD40 on the antennas and move on to another dealer. Edit: re read you post. This happens at stop, like in the carport. Yeah, neck bearing loose? Else, fold the antennas down and try again. (They have a sleeve you can loosen to drop them for covers.)

Yep,,, I need to check my glasses,,, they were fogged. Replaced the picture with one that looks to be JR. Mike G.

About 10 miles or maybe 12-15 minutes. SO, I go home for lunch. I get 40 miles out of it.

Too many people are probably wondering who we are talking about. SO,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, EDIT: Sharp eyes spotted that the full picture I had below was not JR. SO, replaced it with the one below. Globewalker, yeah, the girl in blue was a pretty good double. Mike G. Didn't mean to steal a thread. Have received a PM today requesting purchase. Thanks Mike G

I have a twin set of Cardio Scala G4 in the box if you think it's right for you. I tried to use with half helmet, no good. Needs full or 3/4. Tested one set for one short ride and swore off headsets. (did make one phone call with the blue tooth) It is not now a current model. Picked set up new for Christmas 2011. Been in box since. So, new condition. Stickie never mounted (used clip on test run) PM if interested, say $100 + $10 ship.

If it happens again, suggest you pull the left side cover so you can see the pump. Turn on the key and kill switch. Tap on it good with some tool and listen to see if it pumps up. If it does, may be on it's way out. Might be able to clean contacts? (You may be able to just bang on the side cover with your palm before you go to the trouble of removing it, while key and switch is on. My RSTD did this the other day.) But search on this forum for GRAVITY FEED so you can avoid having to tow it. You can do this with few tools and no parts and still ride the bike fine.

Every time I see posts on the V-max rear end,,, I always get interested. Does anyone ever install and wish they could go back???? Mike G.

Or,,, so if you do,,, use a station with a lot of turn-over, like near an interstate. I went to premium a month back and getting better mileage. Which to me is all about RANGE. Also, not positive cause I don't work at or run gas stations, but I think that they top off station tanks on truck visits instead of running down to low, like we do our tanks. I recently asked at a local station that carries 100% gas, how old it was. She said the tank is topped weekly.

BUT,,, they can close to keep out the rain! hahaha

The Royals are solid. Look at the bike, look at maintenance records. (Don't look at mine. Mine are not show bikes, they are go bikes.) A friend recently bought a well maintained 2006 RSV with 63k miles and a ton of ad-ons. He has had to replace the stator and a frayed cable so far (out of warranty). So, used is used, just like a car. The Royals are like buying a used Honda Accord,,,, likely a solid choice. But there are a few components you will see on this forum that "may" go, typically around 50-60 k miles: Rear Shock Stator Fuel Pump. Some never seem to go, but if they go, you get them fixed and go on.

Every time a family member or close friend talks to my wife on the phone, I yell "MeTOo" when she tells them she loves them, hanging up. And she looks back to me and says,, they said "Me too". My head stone (provided by the VA) will include "MeTOo!"

Plink---Tink, what was that noise
Mike G in SC replied to M61A1MECH's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Steve, I added a picture of the left side stock cover to my previous post. The cover and button is laying on my cowling (RSTD). Just pulled both. They are mirror opposites and actually have a L or a R molded inside of each. Likely have to buy pairs. They just hold on by their mold shape. They go on last, after the screw and the plastic cap. -

Steve, We all pull that part(s) when we pull the tank to change plugs. Seems to me the screw does not hold the part on. They only hold the tank front. Just looked. Both my bikes (2006 RSTD Midnight & 2009 RSV-s) only have black rubber covers. Guessing yours is OEM accessory. Mine press into place and hold on by magic of the molding. They also have a pea sized plastic button that fits in the allen head, just for dressing. (which does not make a plink noise when it falls into the radiator fan housing!) Does seem that is an odd long screw, don't recall another one on the bike,,,,, except on the twin on the other side of the tank! Maybe yours is different than stock. Stock is just a long 5mm, black, for my bikes. Do you need to change your plugs? You're half way there! Mike PS: Can tell people that have done FOD patrol on the flight line. -

I have heard exactly that sound,, plink. I was on I-77, headed to Frugal McDougal's (my Dad would call a booze run). Heard the sound, about mile marker 88. Knowing it was a small metal something. Same thing, maybe just some road FOD. Hmm. So, exit 90, signal, down shift,,, holy shift! No shift-er. Well shifter was still there but flopping around my left foot. Got to think fast,,, clutch in, coast. Plink,,, oh that noise,,, shifter bolt bouncing off the pavement, into my pipe and,,,, gone. Put the shifter back on the shaft and played heal/toe to Frugals. Do I go in and buy Capt Morgan now or later? Later, I figured out that the side cover spare bolt would fit the shifter. Got home just fine,,, Captain. -
A) you can simply leave the caliper at the lowered position. This causes NO issues and has the benefit of being able to see and service the rear brake from a better position (don't have to pull much). and 2) re-drilling the links probably won't work. 1/4" difference in the holes makes 1" on the bike. The stock links are shorter. Drilling out the lowering (longer) links, the hole would be too close or even some of same as the factory hole. Suggest you simply get a set of stock links or leveling links for the bike. You can make them, or as I did, have a fab shop make some. So A+2,,,, leave the caliper alone and get other links. Been there twice. Mike G

Steve, Here it is on Amazon for $28.37, free ship to US. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Slime-40001-Motorcycle-Tire-Inflator/dp/B000ET9SB4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1373109791&sr=8-1&keywords=slime+power+sport+inflator]Amazon.com: Slime 40001 Motorcycle Tire Inflator: Automotive@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31tgLjOrliL.@@AMEPARAM@@31tgLjOrliL[/ame] I buy it at O'Reileys for about $30. But, You are in OZ. I have mentioned this before here (even had a classified for it), my daughter, Claudia, owns (and runs) a parcel forwarding company, www.boxvoyage.com . It specializes in forwarding stuff like this to, primarily, Australia. You order online from anyone in US and ship it to her in South Carolina, she forwards it to you, mostly using USPS. You paypal her for ship cost & her handling. She has a lot of customers, many buy fashion. My son lived in Sydney (got masters at Macquarie). When he got back he acquired Boxvoyage and Claudia took it over, about 5 years ago. If she can help on anything, tell her I sent you,,, I get hugs. PM or email me ( mikeginsc@bellsouth.net ) if you have questions. PM sent to you Mike G EDIT: I did post a fresh ad in the classifieds for her service - see classifieds "all other".

Yeah, Hwy 28 from Wahalla, SC to the base of the Dragon is a 125 mile roller coaster. Had a friend who would do 28, get a burger at the base of the Dragon and go home. (He lives in Murphy, NC and,,,, done that!)

I keep the rope type plug, bottle of slime and a Slime Sport tire inflator in both bikes. Used the plug and inflator on my or other bikes a few times. Only used the slime goo once. But I rode that tire to the nylon. Glad to have them. http://fs7.motosport.com/is/image/Motosport/SLIME-12V-AIR-C_is?$NewPDP2$

If you have stock RSV seats, you should have no problem with most back rests made for the RSV. Utopia is a favorite. Most, you will simply have to pull the passenger seat and bolt on the bracket. There may be some slight modification, like drilling out a hole in the mount just a tad bigger. I have had a Grasshopper (sold it) and a Utopia that install in less than 10 minutes. Some, once you mount a bracket, can be pulled right off in a second. Like the Grasshopper. Some, like the Utopia, require pulling the seat and bracket,,,, takes minutes. Other considerations are when you replace the stock seats with aftermarket. Normally, if you want a backrest, you need to order it with the set. If it is a one piece saddle, they need to install the hole mount from the factory.

I bought a used Stratoliner a few years ago. A few weeks later, took it to the mountains. Could hardly steer the beast in slow corners. Cut my trip short, thought I forgot how to ride. The PO has apparently put some used Brimstones on it to make the sale. They were crap! Put some Avon Cobras on it and tried it again. Greased Lightning. Left my friends in the dust. My SantaFe came with Brimstones. No traction. Front wheels slip when wet. Almost scared to pull into traffic if wet. Got 28k cage miles. I will not wait till the tread is down. Yep, OEM tires, that's about the only way to get people to buy them. IMHO

Anyone have "little known secrets" about 2nd Gen
Mike G in SC replied to VentureFar's topic in Watering Hole
Go to Lowes (or even better, your local hardware store) and get wing nuts to replace them. Stainless or nylon. I think it's 6mm, don't remember the pitch. So, just take one in and size it. Some member vendor used to sell black nylon ones here. Great but he was $$$ for two. And, Yep, a little rubber protected push switch for the passing lamps, if wired correctly. You can turn them on/off while riding. -

Here is a GREAT compact compressor. Usually sold at O'Reileys for about $30. I have given 10 as gifts and got one in each bike. Slime makes a couple of small models. Get this exact one. Comes with a case. http://fs7.motosport.com/is/image/Motosport/SLIME-12V-AIR-C_is?$NewPDP2$
