Some difference between cheap and good. When I had cardiac rehab 9 years ago, they had very good ones at the hospital. But I got a cheapo and kind of took the fun out of it. Sold it,,, actually gave it. Third owner did use it. Got my wife another treadmill when she retired 3 years ago,,,,, ha hahahaah. When the guy loaded it in my SUV, he said "which one of you two bought this coat hanger?" We pointed at each other. Might also look at "Play it again Sports" if you have one near you.

Whew,,, All was daredevil sports,,, except, yep the last one. Though sure the fool would let the other one go to do a thumbs up.

Me, no. Just don't need one. BUT...... At STAR Days in PA this year, a clean used one was donated for a charity auction. It was one of the highlight items of the night. Not sure what it sold for but I think it was more than new. So, they are hot.

Mike, Been there too a few years ago. You may want to get Hospice involved very soon. When you do, things change to make her and your life easier. They will provide a hospital bed in her home and all needed equipment and supplies. (I think at no cost to you.) The help will come to her. They will remove the need for your mom to go make DR appointments at their place or the hospital. I guess we went thru two or three weeks at home. My sister was a nurse so that helped too. Mom had a quiet passing with family in her favorite room in her house. Prayers for you all, Mike G

Actually, Lowes policy gives all Vets 10% off on three days per year, Memorial Day, Veterans Day and one more (forgot which, think 4th of July). So, that's for 4 year vets like me. They give 10% for active military and retired,, card carrying vets every day. But if you carry your DD214 you may talk someone into it. But I just made a $2000+ purchase from them using a 10% coupon from the post office. Go by any post office and ask for a change of address packet. It includes a 10% coupon form Lowes. You go on-line to Lowes and apply for the moving discount. Okay, white lie time,,, you give moving info. In 4-5 days they will email you a 10% coupon. Spends fine. (But can't be used with any other discounts like their credit card 5%) As far as good help,,, get familiar with the employees and you will find a few really good ones. Like most, I got no use for W8, but I like XP and W7. (W8 has no place on business machines.) Retail stores are all W8. (okay,,, except Apple) So, if you are going to get a new machine and do not want W8, you can still order a W7 machine direct from Dell (and maybe others). I've been using Webroot on my home PC's for 1 1/2 years and at work on the 20 boxes I manage for a year. Good product, nice for older boxes due to small foot print. Can't say perfect as I got hit on my home PC early on (all data "lost"). I saw on the nightly news that it was -30F in Havre, MT yesterday morning. I was born there! The folks made one winter and now we live SOUTH. Dad flew a crop duster then,,, not much work at -30F.

Dion, I didn't log just when I put it on but my first rear Commander II got between 20-22K miles on the rear on my RSV. It still passed inspection in PA when I replaced it. I will edit this post when I can track down the tread depth from an old post. Found post on STAR: Re-looking at the mileage, it is in the 20,000 (miles)neighborhood, with 4/32" left. Dealer said they fail inspection in PA at 2/32. (They measured my new tire for me at 12/32.) They were impressed with the mileage. And it was still riding fine, but I was going to pull a trailer on Skyline Drive on my way back to SC and seemed smart to replace it,,,, with another C2. Got one on my RSTD too, doing fine. Wish they would make the stock front. (I use either E3 or Venom on the front,,, both are a good match for the C2.) As for Venoms, which I used for years, I normally get 13-15k miles on the rear. Sorry, per Google, I'm 240 miles from Jessup. I see where the Ebay description now says NOT RUNNING. I think that was changed. (I thought I saw "running, will not crank" yesterday.) Seller appears to be involved with a used car dealership, see other items for sale. Has one red complaint in his sold history, but was in 2006 for a truck not well represented. Unless you can get it as a project for $2000, you can find similar good running bikes for their asking price. You looking for a project or something to ride, or just "a find"?

My wife got a similar call at home a year ago,,, but full American English. Caller ID said "PAYPHONE". She only answered because that could be family(?). Anyhow, the guy started the same thing, said he was Microsoft support and needed to walk her through settings. When she said,,,, "So you guys are using pay phones now?" he hung up. LOL That was odd,,, maybe a prison call out scam?

I've been using Amsoil 10W40 in my two Royals. (RSV@65k, RSTD@96k miles) (Used 20W50 in the V-Twin Strat and Road Star) I did go to motorcycle specific oil filters lately after seeing more info on the auto filters needing higher pressure than our bikes push. I normally go 7000 miles on a change of Amsoil,,, have done bad math and gone to 12000. But oil still "felt" good. But on a recent change what I noticed was time seemed more important than miles. My RSV had about 6k on it, oil was 5 months old. My RSTD had a little more miles but oil was over a year old. (I see my miles were cut way down this year with the constant rain this summer!) The RSV oil looked and felt a lot fresher than the RSTD oil, a visible notice. So, age (and maybe season changes) appeared to be more degrading than miles. I can relate to that!

On STAR Touring they posted a similar scam going on with the Veterans Administration. Two common VA numbers now have similar but wrong numbers that solicit you if you miss dial to them.

I had a Road Star 1600 for three years (and 50k miles). Sold it. Then got the RSTD (still have it at 96k miles). Picked up a deal on a Strat 1900. Had it a year, rode it 10k miles, never cared for it. Picked up a RSV (now got 65k miles), got rid of the Strat . Still ride the RSTD as my commute. It's the V4! At my dealer the other day, talking to the owner, he said his inside info was the next Yamaha Star tourer will be a 1900. I didn't bother to ask more. If it ain't a V4,,, I might look at a 6 cylinder when I look again.

One of the more enjoyable commercial flights I took was a puddle jumper from Columbus to Cincinnati. It was flat clouds like that with periodic cloud mountains. The pilot kept it at about 100 feet above the layer and it was like a snow ride. As he got towards Cinci I could see a big hole in the clouds that other planes, then us spiraled into, then down to land. Looked like bees headed home in the late sun. I don't think any of the other dozen on board paid any attention, except me and the pilot.
