The black looks pretty good, if you got a midnight or a black and ???? two tone.

Yeah, the fella at the 800-toll line said that,,, after she had got the ticket. She said she never saw booths, thought she would just pay at the end,,, like neighboring states. She filled out a form contesting it,,,, naah. $63. They know outta-towners are clueless. If I ever find my azz up there again, will keep it in mind. Mike G.

I got home to SC from a bike ride to Madison, WI a few years ago. Me and some buds rode there for a STAR Days and back. My wife had to visit sick family in MI and took my SUV and then drove over to stay for the event and follow us home. A few weeks later I get an envelope from the Illinois Toll people. It had a fuzzy picture of a tag and said I had skipped 3 toll booths. I'm thinking back,,,like hell. Then I looked at the fuzzy picture,,, it's my SUV tag! Honey,,, did you,,,,,,? Carol claimed she didn's see any stinking toll booths. Well, turns out in IL they have the I-Pass that most use, and the booths are more like exits,,, but manditory,,, if you don't have the I-pass. Who knew, when surrounding states have booths. Well, "Ignorance being 9/10's of the law" in IL,,, she tried 'splaining it on the official form. Nahhhhh, pay the man. And boy howdy do they get lot's of cash that way!

Might share this Columbia SC article with him. A three year old died here today due to a multiple DUI offender. This is where a career drunk goes. It's a slippery slope. http://www.wach.com/news/story.aspx?id=1017809#.Ux_Sz2eYaUk And prayers.

Never thought someone would ask! http://www.rocklube.com/products/items/nipple_cream_main_125x282.gif Couldn't resist. I assume you mean the tube, not the rubber. Saw that done once. I think it will stay on it's own. -
A nice thing,,, you still have 3 years (or more) on your warranty. Not that they break often,,, just nice to have.

My boss insisted he knew his secretary's password, saw her key it. Said it was *****.

A friend here in SC bought a used HD several months ago. It has pretty BLUE LED's around the engine. Yep, he asked and found he can NOT use them in motion, just parked.

Michelin Commander II (made in Thailand??)
Mike G in SC replied to crazygaucho's topic in Watering Hole
Dan, Okay, went out and looked at my rear Commander II on my Venture. Hey, 38 - 12 also,,,, also, made in Thailand! Thai Twins. I had it installed at Camp Hill Yamaha in PA last July while at STAR Days. Good news is,,, great tire, no issues. The previous same tire got me 20-22 k great miles. And this one is also wearing fine. And,,, just crawled under my RSTD. That Commander II rear is 35-11. And guess what,,,, made in Thailand! SO,, at least there was not some change that was made to find a cheaper source. I would say they have probably been made there since the new model. So, while I would prefer US, not faulting anything with the manufacturing. ( I work for a US rubber company (V-Belts) and Asia rubber manufacturers does not have to mean "cheap",,, you get what you pay for. You ask for cheap,, you get crap. You pay for well made and you get it. Unfortunately, most ask for crap that may make it to warranty.) On the front, try the small tire see what you think. I did that in the past on my RSTD and after two (Avons), went back to stock. Some like them,,, some don't. I like that stout tire up there. I use the stock size Dunlop E3 on the front. It mixes just fine with the Commander II rear, and similar in tread. I like the better control at speed. My bikes are front lowered so I don't need the slow speed steer gain. Mike G -

My Dad went through Great Lakes,,,, um 1941. Went off to be a carrier pilot, flew Hellcats, shot at Mitzibushi's with big red dots. He later had to go back there when he got asthma. Met a cute blond nurse,,, proposed 2 weeks later. More to the story,,,, but a good place to start! Tell him we all say thanks!!

When I had to go to Gravity Feed due to a failing fuel pump a few years ago, I added a $4 filter found on Wal-Mart shelf. I had to run GF for a week till part came in so added the filter. It was just a small inline tear drop shape thing. Worked fine. No reason that couldn't be hid under the tank or seat and go straight to the pump, permanent . (I keep it in my side bag, in a baggie, attached to a cheater fuel line in case a pump fails again. )
-
Neil, The gravity feed is just a nice thing to know if you got stuck. You only need wrench for the tank bolt and a needle nose pliers (preferably long ones) to do it. Nice to have a flashlight if it is also dark. Good luck on the points, let us know. Mike G.

My 2010 post on Gravity Feed: Mine died last year, under warranty. Shop replaced it. (it's a few hundred if your pocket) But it died 100% when it died. When you turned the key,,, no clicks. I did do the gravity feed,,,, to prove to me & the shop it was the pump. But also to ride it for a week. The gravity feed will make it run just fine,, except maybe the bottom of the tank or MAJOR throttling. To do gravity feed,,, let me remember,,,, undo the tank bolt under the seat. Lift the tank up a couple of inches (don't need to undo the front, it will pivot.) use a needle nose to pull the gas line that runs from the tank off the fuel filter. Then pull the hose off the carburetor feed line and put the line from the tank to that feed. Now you are running straight from pitcock to the carb. I suggest you also open up the left side panel and disconnect the fuel pump electrical connection so it won't puke out remaining gas. If you think you want to run this a while (more than emergency) you could also include a $3 inline filter from Wal-mart just below the tank. Buy a few inches of fuel line to run between the pitcock and the filter, rather than cut your good line. I ran it this way a few hundred miles till I got a new pump. But, in your case, this may prove if it is the pump or something else. Stick close to home till you know. Mike G.

Go search for GRAVITY FEED. I, and maybe others, posted it a couple of years ago. Or when I get home tonight I can chase and link it. Mike G.

Joe, (and good stuff on Pofarm.) If you run out of resources, might call Al in Sumter and have a chat. Between him and Matt, may have some ideas. (But they will start at SQ 1, so have your list ready.) Mike G. -
Sounds about like my last one. Going 65, suddenly like out of gas. Not like when you have to switch to reserve with studder's. Just out of gas quick. Tried several restarts. Did same, opened side cover wacked it. Started up after gas got back in the carbs. I changed my course back to home. No more real trouble. Seemed to hesitate in the morning, so dealer (good dealer) replaced it under warranty on my word. But you are out of warranty. Neil, Look for the post where a few found a place to order the replacement points. I'll look back at my posts, maybe find it. Mike G. Found it, points replacement: Originally Posted by headdoc I fired the bike up the other day just to run it for a while. It ran for 30 sec and died. Tried to restart it 3 or 4 times with no luck... Just cranked until battery started going down. I didn't hear the pump working so I pulled the side cover and checked the pump...no clicking and no fuel. So off to the VR site I went to read up on what others here had posted. It didn't take long to find the fix. I ordered a new set of fuel pump points from Powersportswarehouse.com. The item number is 18-4615 made by TourMax High Performance Equipment. The points were $33.95 plus $21.58 for shipping. Much better than $250.00 to $300.00 from the aftermarket or dealer. It only took 15 Min to install the points after the pump was removed. One hour for the total job start to finish with a little break in there too. Works like new again. VR does it again...I LOVE THIS SITE!! Mark (headdoc)

Then,,, so, how many felt it was necessary to add the Power Commander to increase the rev limit? Which seems would double the cost of the mod. Mike G.
