  1. Know what you mean. A lot of troubles disappear in your rear view mirror. And at my age, wouldn't mind a ride on a 29 year old,,,,,,, scooter.
  2. can't pull it in GA,,,, maybe FL. But, wow, what a rig. Anyone see a price,,,, US. EDIT: Rickardracing,,,,, YES indeed that was a joke. If you could pull it,,,, I don't think you could stop it!
  3. I might suggest if you have anyone else in your area that is familiar with the Venture, have them ride it. I'm not a mechanic but I have test rode a few for friends to be able to tell them, what is normal or what is wrong.
  4. My first time to the Dragon (129), we came in from the north, did the Dragon and were at the stop at the bottom. We were going to do it up and back again and got word they had closed the road. A Goldwing Trike rider had over corrected in a turn and went down the side. He did not live. So, yeah, in the hair pins,,, can roll if you don't (or can't) take the right action to correct it. This was about the same time as the last Honda Hoot. The rider and friends had come down from there to do the Dragon, I guess about 6 years ago.
  5. Understands jazz at 7, and notice the bare feet.
  6. I heard the new RSTD will offer tunes: http://images.hemmings.com/wp-content/uploads//2012/07/highwayhifi_700.jpg
  7. If a 2015 or 2016 does come out, it will cost $25,000 (unless it is sub-par to the RSV). At $14,999, Joe has found the best I have yet heard on a new 2012. And Joe,,, Black is Black. My two favorite colors,,,,,, Black and Chrome !! And Joe, Contact me if you decide no. I have a friend who wound probably buy it from your dealer. He was looking at used last week. Mike G
  8. I have seen people secure the front tire (maybe in a tire chock in a trailer) and then use a small floor jack to lift under the engine/frame. Guaranteed to bring the rear up.
  9. Joe, If the 2012 is a Midnight,,, BUY IT. Mike G.
  10. Just watching the Today show and they were in Pearl MS, suburb of Jackson. WES0778 and Betty and Wes, you all okay? I know you are just a couple of miles south of Pearl. Mike G.
  11. I have been to Romney Cycles. They did a BBQ for our STAR Touring group. They are a great dealer, had the cheapest price on a new RSV when we were there. Price is confusing, so if you are interested,,, call THEM direct. http://www.romneycycles.com/default.asp OH,,,,,,, and 2001 RSTD does not exist. SO, yeah, Might call and see what the hell that is about. I think this is some BS, wouldn't trust what you seel
  12. As noted,,,, no.
  13. I got HD's on my RSV. It is good for that bike. A full day ride and you can still hear, but much deeper than stock. Got 4-2-4's on my solo RSTD. Good bark to them. But probably louder than you want. Oh yeah,,,, this was about how to mount them. My RSV adapters are triangle shape but work like the one in the sketch.
  14. What you have is a very nice bike that is affordable. I got a friend here in SC that I will tell about it. But, sounds like you will sell it this weekend. Unless you do a white lie and say you got a buyer. Then put it back out for more a week or so later. He is looking at a 2004 RSV that has 6600 miles, white, mint but the guy wants $7900 and wont budge, too dang much for the year. His wife wants the white,,, go figure. I like Black and Chrome.
  15. I looked at my area. Yeah, those are patrolled and yep, cops may sit in the median and shoot radar over the hill. One listed near me is a 2 mile 45 zone. Should be faster but it is posted at 45. So,,, someone calls it a speed trap when they get busted for 55. Unless the speed limit signs are set up to make you fail, I don't know that I would call it a TRAP. Just a patrolled area. But people call it a trap, cause,,, I guess they think it should be,,,,, 20 over.
  16. If you want to ask $5K, I might suggest you post $4995 to keep it under. Still gives you wiggle room but less shock to someone looking.
  17. I have used the rope plug followed by Slime more than once on the rear. Actually 3 times, and rode the tires to normal wear. My solo bike has one now, on a Commander II. Dang roofers. (Would prefer RideOn to Slime,,, just not available on the shelf here.) But, you can also put a tube in it. I did that on a bigger hole than I was happy with plugging.
  18. Carol used to read a book. Now she reads her Kindle. Your cam is way back,,, passenger sits lot's closer and sees less. Here is her view on the road. First shot is in Charleston SC, second in TN third in MI. You get the idea.
  19. If you are going to put a Sears Cargo type shell on the trailer, make sure you put it far enough forward. I mounted one too far back and the trailer would periodically get the wanders & shakes on down hill at speed, yikes! Someone saw my pics and said, "move the box forward about 6". That solved it. I sold it off this site a year ago and the new owner said it pulled great.
  20. Larry, do you mean your Windows desktop won't open, or when you try to get on the Internet you get a white screen. Assuming the later, might go to Start, Control Panel, Network and Sharing center. Does the path in the picture at top look okay or a red X. White screen makes me think you are not getting to the Internet and need to verify the connection. If you have a red X, trouble shoot from there. If the path is clear, then,,,,, check the stuff mentioned.
  21. just a bump. thought it was funny.
