  1. Hi, did ya get it fixed? Mine had what I thought was a similar problem only leaking when I shut it off, what mine turned out to be were the rubber O ring on the carb drain screws. That screw may need to be cleaned inspected for damage and also check the screw seat for any grit that may not let it close all the way, Good luck
  2. On my 89 VR 2 of the carbs are wet with gas as far up as I can see without taking things apart. Looks like the front carb on left side and rear one on the right side, both look to be wet from the middle down. Leaks so that when on side stand it had a small puddle on the garage floor about the size of a coffee cup coaster. I drove it Saturday and overnight it piddled on the floor! Naughty Bike!!!! Any suggestions?
  3. Thanks everyone for the replies, Got home from work and went straight to it, pulled the side chrome off and there it was looking right at me almost like it wanted to say NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH you missed me!!!!!!!! Checked the wire did a little quick clean and plugged her back on! Ready to ride,,,,,,,,,,,,,, FINALLY! Everyone be safe, Ron
  4. Just a quick question, first some info... I know how everyone likes it. I changed some gaskets on my 89 VR including the breather assembly which meant draining some coolant! Finished the job,no leaks oil or coolant, Put everything back together added coolant per owners manual topped off overflow tank to full, took for a test ride and every things ok, except now my temp gauge isn't moving and I cant remember what temp it ran before repairs! I know its pumping coolant you can see it when radiator cap is off. I drove it a couple of miles during the test ride, that should have been far enough to get my gauge to move. Could my thermostat be stuck open? I'm totally confused, I've been wrenching on that thing most of the winter and I'm ready to ride, just don't want to hurt her now!! Where should my needle read at normal riding temp. Thanks everyone, and safe riding to all.
  5. Would just like to get some feedback on what everyones opinions are on degreasers. Would like something to spray on motor and rinse off!
  6. Thank you mini
  7. I know this is probably the wrong place to post this butttttttttttt, it has alot of people viewing! Can anyone tell me if you torque the valve cover bolts when replacing the valve cover gaskets and if so what would it be? Thanks very much:confused24: It is for a 89 VR
  8. I'm lost, where do you begin to get at the speakers? Is there a tech write up that tells step by step how to. I can see them if I take off the turn signals but it just didn't seem like thats how they would go in:confused24:
  9. They sure make using alumalloy look easy, would like to see a real project done with them, but I have never used them
  10. Hi Jim, My name is Ron, we live about 10 miles south of Sandusky in Castalia, lived around here all my life. One place you might want to check out is the Marblehead lighthouse and the Lake erie islands, preferably Put-n-bay, can't forget Cedar Point, argueably has the tallest fastest coasters in the world and great live shows. During that time of year ferrys run alot, and the island is just warming up for a hopping summer!( Verrrry Busy). Get ahold of me and I'll try to hook you up with some of the local brochures so you can get your trip started off on the right foot. Enjoy yourselves
  11. Check your valve cover gaskets, probably getting cracks in them, you can see on the outside of the valve cover a black half moon shape in the gasket look close to see and you may see small cracks. Also check your air breather housing (Squeeze told me about this one) for leaks, there are two special rubber gaskets that seal them up. I have the same year and mine was doing the same as yours. Good luck
  12. I have a 89 VR and would like to put some fresh speakers up front. What shape are they and what size also, I just want something plug and play. Any suggestions on what to put in would be great! A co- worker told me he has a pair of 3" (square) Pioneers, Would these fit? Thanks Ron

  14. Looks like something worth carrying on the bike with us, where is it available at, and can it be used on a less severe type of wound, especially if we don't know a lot about wound treatment, I mean it would be better to use it when your not sure than not use it at all!!
