Hi, I sent a message to Muffin about rear speakers. He said you mounted some on the back, do you have pictures? Thanks Ron

I bought a 1 owner 89 VR that had 29k on it, I changed valve cover gaskets, air breather assembly O Rings, checked Diaphrams, new air filter, spark plugs, new oil, ran some seafoam in the gas. Checked everything out, then for the test I took her on a 1100 mile test run to St Louis and back. I paid 2300.00 for mine and it is worth every penny. What is being told to you on these posts are true, these are some of the best people you could ever get in touch with. Any problems, all you need to do is ask. Without naming anyone they all know who have helped me, called me on their vacations etc... Can't beat them with a stick- well I guess ya could but we require pictures. I say buy it, very strong, fast and comfortable bike!

CMiles3, now that made me laugh! Wish I had thought of it.
-
Redneck, I don't think yours will do 20mph over my 89VR, I've had mine over 105 with alot left in the throttle.

Prayers to the family, I believe the track in Norwalk, Ohio, Summit Motorsports Park can handle it, nothing but county airport runways at the end. Very nice set up
-
Wow that sounds like a close call, glad your ok
-
Very Nice thing to do for him, He must not have had any insurance coverage.
-
Glad you will be ok, It will take longer for you to heal up than it will to fix the bike up.

I would like to learn more about what all the engine code numbers mean or if they mean anything at all, let me know!
-
Greg, Mine is a 1989 XVZ13DW also, engine # 1NL-027891. The sticker on the frame of the bike located under driverside foot peg says it was manufactured in 10/88. Hope this helps

Just got back from My Ohio to St Louis trip, 1100+ miles on my 89 VR. And on the highway, riding single, bags loaded, 75 mph average, I checked at every fillup I got between 45-49mpg US. Seemed like the mileage was better in the mornings when it was cooler outside.

I'm looking for the fancy chrome add on piece with lights and louvers
-
Thats what I'm looking for, I thought with as many of these bikes that were sold there would be some available. I'll keep a look out, and let me know if you see any
-
What is the chrome trim piece called that goes around the base of the rear end of the bike, under the saddlebags and across the rear, some have louvers in them some have lights. Does anyone have one for sale or know where I could get one/ Thanks Sorry, I need it to fit a 89 Vr

After Muffin and I talked last night about about forks seals I don't think my riding style could keep up with him to send him home unless he let me keep up to tell him!!!!!!:rotf:

Really sorry to miss all the goings on at Don's, had the bike apart putting Ultra Classic Mufflers on her. Congrats to the Muffinman on the newest addition to the family, from the pics you guys look great setting on her! Did anyone else have a hard time keeping quiet about his new bike? Do they sell temporary hunting permits in that county for them pond monsters?!!!!! Maybe next year, thanks for everything Don you must have a good woman behind you.

10-4 on nixing the fork seal project, means more time to lend a hand and meet people!!!!!!
-
I have to work in the morning but plan on it as soon as I can get there, my better half will be in school.
-
My first maint day! Can't wait to meet a bunch of you to see if you say the same things that I do when working on her! I need to get in line for a carb sync. Will anyone be able to tackle fork seals? She has 29k on her, would I need to replace bushings? Let me know what I need to bring. I have a set of used diaphrams Marcarl sent me if anyone needs them, I'll bring them along. Most important, I'm gonna need directions from Rt 2 to Dons place. See ya soon , Ron:biker: PS leaving for St Louis on the 20th, gonna be a good time !

Warning light
Pappa Bear replied to Pappa Bear's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks, My oil level may be a touch on the low side of the site glass and I will start looking for loose connections. I really would rather keep my eyes up when winding her up like that, you know those wild animals, cars, and tourists. Again thanks -
Has anyone ever noticed the warning light to start blinking when you are really cranking it up? I'm not over revving the motor, just winding her out through the gears to around 75-80 mph. As soon as I back off it stops flashing. The first time I saw it I thought my stand was coming down. Any suggestions? Thanks, P.S. it doesn't do it everytime

Dumb question, what exactly is a bub? Is it a stock Harley muffler from a sportster?
-
I have Metzlers on front and back, they came with the bike are they any good?
-
Neil says to change the oil, good idea, how about some brand names and types
