Just to throw in my because Puc gave you the whole gold mine in his answers. I bought a used 83 many years ago for us to tour the west. It did not have a 2nd gear that would stay in gear under acceleration either. But after reading other stories about this bike not really needing it or it not hurting the bike in the long run we took off on our trip west. Like it was said by many others it was no problem on our trip. I did fix it before I sold it. It was a fairly easy fix if you are mechanically inclined. Just take you time doing it and follow Yamahas manual.

This is like reading something from INFOwars. Like OBEWAN says "move along there is nothing to see here".

Congratulations on the Gentleman Farm Bob. Now, how long does it take to cut up the Dragons? How many do you need to get through the Winter?

Ouch! Here's to a speedy recovery.

The army has had these for awhile. I carry one in the trunk of Dot. Like the add says it has 9 settings SOS, is one of them. So far I haven't had to use it along the highway. It is not very large or heavy but it sure is bright.

Congratulations skid! I was Highway Superintendent for my town for 2 terms {4 years} and then a councilman for 2 terms {8 years}. Looking back on it, it was a eye opening experience to say the least. I am also looking at the town justice position in a few years when our current judges are ready to step down. When you finally begin to do your duty you come to realize the truth in the saying "The wheels of government turn slowly". With your past employment I'm sure you will be a top notch Judge.

UG................. It has one of a kind styling, for a truck. Not for me but the younger crowd might suck it up. Who snuck in the kid to the development department of Yamaha?

Just seen this and thought it reminded me of the old AMX in the style department. If the sound track is anything what it sounds like traveling down the road they need to make it sound like the old Star Trek warp engines.

New Wing to be the first scoot with Apple CarPlay tech built in...Yippie!

I like apples, Once again Japan made the best for eating Fuji. -
Dan, you're first post asks for prayers. This I have done and will still do every time I read this thread. This is very disheartening to read about how corrupt the legal system is there. The phrase "Innocent till proven guilty" seems like a farce there. More like "Guilty till proven innocent". However this turns out, please keep your composure. Remember all good things come to those who wait and lawyer up.

Some of these add on parts beg the question "Why". More chrome to keep clean is all I can see. -
That would bite it bad. One more sign of the over reach of tech. My friend bought a newer 4wd tractor. If you happen to stall it you cant just push in the clutch and go. NOOOO! You turn on the key and sit there for what seeems an eternity {roughly 2 minutes} before it will let you start it back up again. AHGGG! Newer is not always better its just NEWER.

Reading all these posts about 3 wheels makes me laugh. We all started riding three wheelers in the beginning and are all thinking of riding them again.Pretty soon well all be riding one of these.

I think standard 15% restocking fee applies.

Nice. It is our next choice when we retire DOT. You better stay off it or there might be 2 of them sitting in your driveway for your next picture. Our old legs are not getting any younger.

Its my understanding about the Marks Collector is that it is a replacement for the baffled system that comes stock on the first gens. But as was said by Condor they are like chicken lips to find. Performance would increase with the free'er flow that it produces but engine exhaust sound should increase also. I've heard they sold for a good buck.

Cowpuc you have hashed the new Venture to bits. But I think you have finally hit it on the mark. If I had the new Venture I could have kept my left hand warm by holding it close to the motor instead of putting it into my coat pocket this morning. Darn old plastic covered relic. We are a dieing breed as far as Momma Yamaha is concerned. Its all about the look not the ride. My guess is there will come a time when hauling your Yamaha to Sturgis will be as normal as hauling your Harley. Anyone who has ridden a touring bike many miles, knows that at any time you can crest a hill and come to a STOP. Only to see nothing but taillights as far as the eyes can see. When coming home from our ride to Montana there was a accident in the other lane of the thruway that held up those lanes for at least 5 miles. We were in 2 traffic jams on that trip oursleves. One for about an hour and the other for roughly 40 minutes. So we sat and crawled for miles. In the HEAT. No burns here. But who am I, evidently not the bike owner that buys into this BS, "" the rumble, heat, and heft of an enormous V-twin is a necessary part of the road-trip experience."" My dad told me once "Son you can polish a turd up to a shine but in the end its still a turd".
