Passenger lever - what does it do?
mraf replied to SC89Venture's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
As you've been told it is for the backrest. This is a weak point on the trunk lid. It is spring loaded and should move forward at the top when pulled. When I bought mine the passenger backrest pivot point had broken the plastic trunk. Check this area out for cracks in the trunk. If you remove it and are handy this can be fixed and not seen afterwards. I reinforced mine with a thin piece of steel. Something that Yamaha should have done from the factory being that it takes a beating. -
CLASS has slow leak,, Help!!
mraf replied to Venture Steve's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Have you soaped the rear shock? Its been awhile, but there is a small plastic valve located in a line or on the pump that could be bad. I replaced mine but that wasn't the problem. I all so bought another air pump assembly off e-bay. That wasn't the problem either. Mine was the class controller itself. It would release the air at the pump due to the bad electrical solder joints. I had to use a jewelers eyeglass in order to see the breaks in the solder they were so small. Maybe someone else will chime in with some help. -
Just tell all your nurses to lie to you about the weather being nice and close the shades. Good luck with the surgery.

Good commercial. Even though this commercial shows the importance of different colored lights on a motorcycle "somewhat to the extreme". We are not allowed to run them while traveling. Except in the state of Pennsylvania, from what I've been told. Are there any other states that have passed a law allowing their use? I know if I glance quickly, something exhibiting unique lighting is recognized for its placement in the scheme of things.

When and if the price or time of travel exceeds the price of goods. Then and only then will we all "Keep it Local". You seem normal to me but I'm cheap. If you find a good parts store person you better keep going back there. Their very hard to find. They usually end up opening up their own store then you never see them again. I too shop on-line more and more. What the heck did we do before Google?

My rear shock would lose air on my 86 when I bought it. It turned out to be the class controller solder joints. Do this repair first . http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=493 -

Poor, poor misguided Charlie. You know deep down in your heart the truth. But being your riding a Harley look alike you're starting to behave badly. You can't help it we know. How well we know. Keep riding that 2nd gen and just swallow that lump in your throat when passed by the 1st gens. Weather your using the passing lights or not.:rotfl:

There are two ears on the filter housing that should be installed on the top when mating with the engine casing. Maybe it is not sitting flush because of these. Check you filter housing for trueness or defects if not sitting flush.

I do know that a V-max gearset will drop in a 83. When I did my 83 2nd gear fix that is what I put in. Ratios were different but still a drop-in.

Recieved a flyer in the mail today for a Giant Motorcycle Swap Meet at Cleveland, Ohio on Sunday March 14. Has anyone ever been to this previously? Is it worth going to? Says that I could rent a space. I've been to car swap meets before but never a bike one. Should be pretty big being in Cleveland.

Easy Dan leave that shoveling for the young. My shoveling consists of nothing more than the steps to the house. Everything else gets John Deere.
