At about what age does this condition start to represent itself? I would have to say when I started to look for a touring bike.:rotfl:

Bet the large sum of cash gotten in the line of duty might have something to do with removing gold teeth form the spent enemy.:rotfl::mo money:

After reading about the Ural rider being killed pulling onto the thruway got me to remembering about the one very close call we had coming home from our recent west trip. We too were pulling back on the freeway after stopping to stretch and relax at a rest stop. As I was pulling onto the merging lane and accelerating I looked over my left shoulder and seen 2 cars in the passing lane. So the coast is clear. You would think. The idiot in the second car talking on his cell phone decided to pull back into the driving lane what must have been right after my coast is clear look. Needless to say I'm doing the last sway into the driving lane and I HEAR not see this low rumble right beside me and a fender close enough to polish. Whoa were did you come from! Scared the bejesus out of us. I asked the wife were did he come from and she said she didn't know. She said she looked too when were were entering the thruway and didn't see anything in the driving lane either. Needless to say I was livid and quite upset but the wife said let him go. So I follow this guy for several more miles. He was everywhere without ever touching a signal once. I finally had enough and caught up with him to at least read him my extreme happiness at the top of my lungs along with pointing out a few flying birds. Again I was chastised by the wife which I had to point out to her that she was setting up a double standard. She asked how. Which made me laugh, so I had to remind her of her own happy verses and pointing out of birds that I've seen her do on more than one occasion. Guess where I'm going with this is I HATE CELL PHONES, THEY SHOULD BE MADE TO NOT WORK WHEN ANY VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. MANKIND LIVED BEFORE THEY WERE INVENTED AND MORE OF US WOULD PROBABLY BE LIVING NOW IF THIS WOULD HAPPEN!

Boy am I glad they got him off the street. I sure wouldn't want him running into my vehicle and hurting me. :rotfl: Please bring back the days of common sense. Dust him off, confiscate his offending vehicle and have a good laugh. But know it's cuff him and stuff him, fine the heck out of him, make life miserable with higher insurance premiums for ten years . Whats the gain, plenty for the state and ins..:mo money: Legal Prohibition. I can see it now "What you in for?" DWI on a buzzbike and illegal pit pass.

No. I, or should I say "we" have put many s[miles] on this out-dated Yamaha. The fact that I can tear this bike apart in a matter of minutes and fix it myself coupled with the knowledge that this V4 is a basically indestructible engine have us right where we feel comfortable. Everyone talks of the Goldwings from the drivers seat but lets not forget about the passengers. Who we all know are those "whom must be obeyed". The adjustable backrest has more than once made the whole riding experience more of a pleasure throughout the day for her. True the seat on the wing is very comfy but not adjustable. Pity. I could go on and on. So no.

OK ,I've sat here and read don't drain, do drain, don't use green use orange, don't use synthetics, do use synthetics don't start, do start, don't turn off, do turn off. Huuuuummm. Trouble with it all is that we all have this information in the back of most manuals under storage. Follow that and your mostly get to go when you pull the automatic smiler out to ride next year. Oh yeah, even though this site can have some of the most conflicting opinions on the web it will still be the place to come for advice. And laughs!:rotfl: And winter hasn't even started. Hang in there fellow Ventureriders its going to be a lllllllloooooonnnnnngggggggg one.

I have to agree Dan. I too bought a lot of parts on e-bay the last few years. But it has gone to the dogs lately as far as prices go. There are a few deals to be made, but far and few between anymore. The junkyards have all but ruined a good deal anymore. I'm one for making a profit but their prices are more like shopping at a pirates cove.

They build bikes everyday. Congratulations on the new addition to your family. Hang around, you never know what might come up. -
Well we did it again. The harvest this year was early and bountiful. Which left us with a window to get the heck out of here. So on October 7th we packed up the Venture and headed southwest again. The itinerary was to basically see Mesa Verda Nat'l Park , Bryce & Zion Canyons Nat'l Parks. We rode Interstate until we came to Highway 50 in Missouri past St. Louis. From there it was nothing but two lane blacktop. We made stops at Great Sand Dunes Nat'l Mon., The Strater Hotel at Durango, Colorado {had to have a drink at the Diamond Belle saloon} cool place felt like the Earps could walk in anytime, Natural Bridges Nat'l Mon., Capital Reef Nat'l Park, Bryce Canyon Nat'l Park, Zion Nat'l Park, Standin on the corner at Winslow Arizona, Valley of Fires Nat'l Rec Area, Roswell, New Mexico from there to Amarillo, Texas to I-40 then interstates back home. The weather was beautiful. In the mornings it was alittle cool but by 9:00 or 10:00 it warmed up fine. Before the trip I had bought the wife a Tourmaster heated coat and myself a Tourmaster heated vest. Her coats control unit failed after the second use of it so I gave her mine which she used off and on for the rest of the trip. I never needed my vest anyway. Since I have been home I have recieved another control unit for the failed one plus bought another one for a spare. I have heard that the aspen trees are beautiful in the fall. Let me tell you that this fact is true. They were a very bright gold. This made for some breathtaking visas with the green and gold against the mountainsides. We only rode in the rain once and that wasn't a hard rain. It was when we were making the first ascent into the Rockies in Colorado. The rain stopped after we were through the pass. The wife took 724 pictures. I will only post a few as pictures do not do the beauty and splendor of the west justice. The Venture ran like a Swiss watch. Burned up roughly over $300.00 of gas and a 1/2 qt of oil. Total miles 4577 in 15 days but right now it just seems like a dream.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Life is full of twists and turns just remember its not the candle or the wick its the burn.
