A famous line from Hill Street Blues "Lets be careful out there". Comes to mind. Cell phone people are the worst. Is a phone call that important? To some its more important than life. Yours or mine. Sad. If its mine the perpetrators cell phone should have to play" HEY, LOOKOUT" in my voice for their ring tone.

Brought back memories of riding my old 74 Suzuki 400 motocrosser. Gobs of power whenever you needed it. Riding down stairs was always a blast. There wasn't a hill that the bike couldn't climb, if you were nuts enough to try. 1200 cc now thats serious.

YIKES! Sounds serious. But the story of it had me snickering. Being a guy. Hope you heal quickly and tougher. Although being a guy you'll never tell anyone.

Shovel snow? I haven't shoveled any all year. Usually have a mountain piled up at the end of the driveway but this year the John Deere sits. If it even looks like snow this state puts so much salt down the road is sweating salt for days after its gone. No such thing as Global Warming. Yeah, right! I had plans to make a full sized replica B-17 in the front yard this winter but would have a had time to write my name in it this year. Can't tell if I hate snow or love snow. Know one thing though Winter sucks. I CAN SHOVEL FAST THOUGH. 1ST GENNERS FOREVER!!!!!

Should the air shocks bleed air over time?
mraf replied to jurob's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Have you soldered the class yet? I too had a slow leak when I bought my 86. I bought another pump, still leaked. Bought the plastic valve {new} thats inline one of the airlines, still leaked. Soldered class and leak gone. Don't know why and don't care to know. -

If I had to guess I'd say you need to solder your class. They are notorious for not working properly when the solder joints need fixed. Hope this helps. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=493 Mine did everything until I soldered the CLASS. -
WOW! You must have been really good! Nice ride!

Thats what I thought. Thanks for the answers. Guess I'll pilfer the old oil filter sealing rubber and try installing it using them, next time. Any way be wary of the brand FILTREX oil filters. To bad too because they really look like a very good made filter. Not only lots of pleats but also covered around the outside circumference is a steel screening.

The only tweeting around here comes from the birds. Farce book sounds like trouble and I can get into all the trouble I need right here at home without spreading it all over the world. Good info though. BS on the computer never stops.

A while back I had to order some things from a online Motorsports place. While I was on the site I noticed that they sold oil filters for XV1200TDVENTURE 85-86. They are made by a company named Filtrex and claim on their packaging to be O.E.M. suppliers for Japanese motorcycle companies. They look to be very well made filters when compared to other I have purchased. Being my shelf supply was getting low I ordered 2. I went to put one on yesterday and I couldn't get the mounting bolt through the hole in the center being it was a hair to large and would pull the sealing rubber free from the filter. Lubing it up didn't help at all. My question is this isn't the 1200 & 1300 mounting bolt the same size?

Second Ignitech Aftermarket TCI group buy
mraf replied to dingy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I hate cold winter days. I do nothing but sit around the computer and spend money. Already bought some more LEDs today and now you have this group buy thing going on. OK I'm IN. Dot was running great but she'll be 26 this year and time is one thing that makes things deteriorate. Me included. :mo money: -
How do you lube your joints?

I have greased the driveshaft splines and drive lugs. Changed the gas filter and removed the sending unit to clean the inside of the tank. I have a few bad LEDS to replace maybe remove the carbs for a through cleaning and Dot is ready to go for another year.
