Ok all you Formula 1 buffs what's your 2cents
Ferrantelli replied to Squeeze's topic in Watering Hole
Qualifying and pits strategy is everything at Monaco. Overtaking on course is almost impossible by the top drivers, there are so equally matched. Great weekend coming up for racing. But if the chance to ride comes up I am out there let the divo take care of it. Maybe we need to start a tread on F1. -

Passion #1 Motorcycles Passion #2 F1 Ferrari I record everything F1 on on speed and watch it at my convenience. This Sunday I will be watching the Monaco, although a bit boring it is still F1. I have been to Montreal a few times and also in Detroit way back when. -
Preliminary Report on Pirelli MT66 ROUTE tires

Goose above you post that is me on the Dragon. I have scrapes on both of my floorboards and now on my right mufflers, and I do think I am a safe rider but I can hold my own. -

What do you think Gearhead should we tell them? You know Ferrari does a better job of looking after their tires and use the softer ones for larger stints than Mercedes. Worn out tires has cost Mercedes dearly just ask Hamilton. -

It may very well be. This is my first Venture, it came with Dunlops and with 10,738 miles on them I am hoping they make it to at least 20,000. On my previous bike a Kawasaki Vulcan 800 with OEM Bridgstones I was able to get 25,000 out of the rear and 27,000 out of the front. I replaced them with Metzler's and sold the bike with 49K and the tire still had some more miles to give. However from everything I read on this site when it is time to change the Dunlops on my Venture, I do not know what to get. Maybe by then Dunlop will have the Roadsmart MT-Multi-Tread available in sizes for the Venture. -
I have this one! From e-bay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-HOPNEL-Tuxedo-Tie-TANK-Panel_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35586QQihZ006QQitemZ160241943831QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

In the garage it stays with the key in the ignition. When away just the fork lock and a cover, never stay in the same place more than one night anyway. When on bike meets or large motorcycle events I have a perfect anti theft device, find the most attention getter Harley I can in the immediate area and park next to it!

Preliminary Report on Pirelli MT66 ROUTE tires
Ferrantelli replied to V7Goose's topic in General Tech Talk
Only 12,000, I expect twice that on any rear street tire and a little more on the front. I have 10,500 on my Dunlops, and expect nothing less than double that. -
I do not want to touch the original mufflers. After market are too expensive and probably too loud for my taste. Got Harley mufflers for $12.50 on e-bay. Cheap way to experiment!
-
OK folks I just picked up Harley touring mufflers off e-bay. Now I have read about the modification 1-4. These are still original I do not know what year bike they came off of, but the left one has a catalyst in it. What now? How can I modify this one compare to the other side? Should I install them the way they are now and try first? Can they be modified? Thanks.

I have used a Schubert Concept for years. A bit pricey but the best on the market. Here is a Product Evaluation Schuberth Concept Motorcycle Helmethttp://www.motorsports-network.com/newprods/photos/hclosed1.jpg We've been using a number of flip-up helmets lately, and the Schuberth Concept motorcycle helmet certainly stands out from the others. First of all, it's a rather large helmet in terms of its overall size. On the plus side, this larger size provides for a rather spacious eye port area which is wonderful for those who wear glasses or suffer from claustrophobic tendencies. The helmet has an unmistakable feel of quality, though this should be no surprise as Schuberth invented the flip-open helmet "concept" in 1978. Featuring a carbon fiber composite shell, the concept's interior is quite comfortable, not to mention removable for washing. The hinge mechanism is very secure in it's movement and the thick fog-coated face shield is anything but flimsy and has positive ratcheting positions, but no position to slightly open the shield to relieve fogging or to get a small dose of fresh air. Rather than a traditional "D" ring strap closure, the Concept helmet features a positive locking quick-release buckle. http://www.motorsports-network.com/prodtest/ifwhelm/schbuck1.jpghttp://www.motorsports-network.com/prodtest/ifwhelm/visor1.jpghttp://www.motorsports-network.com/prodtest/ifwhelm/wrap1.jpg My next helmet will be the SHARK EVOLINE when it come to the USA, or I will oder it from Europe. http://www.shark-evoline.com/ This will make helmet number "8" in the household.

I have nothing against Harleys, Hondas, Suzukis, etc. Matter of fact I like all Motorcycles. But no Suzuki, Honda, or any other mark owner other than Harleys has ever come up to me and say WHY DIDN'T YOU BUY A "HONDA, SUZUKI, ETC.. Rather we discuss the differences, what we like, where we have been, where we like to go, and how much fun it is to ride. Harley's owners have brought this type of ridiculing upon themselves. They have put Harleys in one category and every other bike, biker in another. One can't help but lash out when one's choice of joy and passion is insulted. I am not saying that they all are, but for the most part they have an attitude. I have been shunted many times at gatherings for many events for not riding a Harley. Frankly my dear I don't give a damn. I even stopped waving to Harley riders, after many times of not getting a response. Some of them wave to me prematurely and once close they realize it is not a RoadKing they have this look as if they wish they can take the wave back. My riding partner and best friend just traded a BMW for a Harley (FLHTGQRTSWXYZ whatever that means) but I know him, he could not care less what others think just like me. Here is why I ride! http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b7da06b3127ccec0a31bcc757a00000016101IZN2bZqyYg9vPhQ http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dc23b3127ccec311b615258600000016101IZN2bZqyYg9vPhQhttp://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b7da06b3127ccec0a2cdc5555400000016101IZN2bZqyYg9vPhQhttp://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b7da06b3127ccec0a335e7754600000016101IZN2bZqyYg9vPhQ

Dealers will order bikes from manufactures (Yamaha, ect..) based on what they think will sell to their customer base (providing they are not late with the orders and stock is available). If they order bikes and do not sell, they pay a monthly note on them. Many times they are wrong on their estimations. I had a difficult time finding mine. Every dealer I went to offered to get it for me but had nothing on the floor to show me. Then I went to the least likely dealer to have one (Queens, New York) for business and there it was just uncrated. Just one look that is all it took!!!!! Isn't she beautiful!!! http://www.motorcycleaustralia.com.au/new/gallery/xvz1300tf%20-1132541860.jpg

Brian congrats! That is great. After that 200 miles trip any other bikes including your Velusia will seem like a moped. I it will be difficult but try to get a good night sleep the night before. If I remember correctly I didn't sleep at all.

When a Harley rider asks me why didn't I buy a Harley. I just reply " I can't afford a Harley ". This way they leave me alone, instead of getting into a heated discussion. They think is the initial price of the Harley I am referring to, not realizing that I am referring to the cost of keeping it working!

Those do not look like Wind Mills or Water Mills to me. There are more like Weather Vanes that measure wind directions or Anemometer that measure wind speed. Look at these photo for example.

Ok, YOU your BIKE and a water or wind MILL!!

I just tell them to pay me an advance of $20 via paypal to my e-mail address to help offset the cost of acquiring all the info they need. But they do not answer back! -
Yes! Xsmoker here stopped in 1988. Hang in there it does get easier to overcome the urge with every passing day. I use 1/2 the sugar in my coffee. I do not add any salt on my food. I stop drinking soda, too sweet. No more yellow film on the inside of my home and car windows. I can smell the cigarette of the guy in front of me in his car doing 70 mph on the expressway. And, yes I can tell when someone is a smoker. Besides you think gas is expensive a pack of cigarettes these days will set you back $8, I rather by the gas for my bike. and go riding.

Here is my 2c on the war and the Arab oil! Robin Williams' plan. (Hard to argue with his logic!) "I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here's one plan." 1) The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past and present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those "good ole boys". We will never "interfere" again. 2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea, the Middle East, and the Philippines. They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence. 3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are. They're illegal!!! France will welcome them. 4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers. 5) No foreign "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home, baby. 6) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while. 7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.) 8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "interfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything. 9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens. 10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us, "Ugly Americans" any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH...learn it...or LEAVE! Now, isn't that a winner of a plan? The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses." She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, "You want a piece of me?"

When next month? I should be there on May 11 or 12. Do you have the Blackcherry or the Midnight Venture? I'll keep a look out for any Venture Rider.
