  1. I took a long time to decide. I checked all of my options and went for the Flanders. It was not an easy task, it is a lot more involved then just swapping out the bars. I used Buckeye Performance for the complete kit. The kit included handlebars and brake and clutch steel lines. I also decide t use the original grips and bar end weights. The part # to the Flanders bar is 650-08763. No I did not look for a different model to bring them closer I don't like to be crowded in front of me ( that is why I did not buy a HD). Also the fairing bushing can continued to be used like the OEM bars and they do not touch anything lock to lock. http://www.buckeyeperformance.com/images/HandleBarFlanders.jpg Flanders Handle Bar Upgrade for the Royal Star Venture and Royal Star Tour Deluxe You may ask why upgrade the handle bars? Ever go for a long ride and get that weird uncomfortable pain between your shoulder blades? This is the answer to that issue. These bars are made by Flanders maker of the best handle bars on the market today. They are a mirror image of the stock RSV handle bars except they have an additional 2 "inch pullback length that brings the grips ends closer to you. This relieves that pain between the shoulder blades in most cases. You will have to replace the throttle cables also. The Stock clutch and brake lines can be used but will pull them a little tight. Most opt for our Braided Stainless Steel brake line kit which is made to fit this upgrade. This upgrade is not hard to do and can be completed in 1 day even with the brake line upgrade. If you like the stock grips and bar end weights we offer a bar end weight kit that will work with the Flanders bars so you can keep the stock grips with our bar end weights that look close to the stock bar ends. Only available from Buckeye Performance. Please email us at info@buckeyeperformance.com for a list and prices for this upgrade. One stop shopping for all the parts that will fit your bike from one that knows for bike.
  2. I did just the Flanders bar and it is perfect for me. Maybe the attached photos give you an idea how far they come back.
  3. Yes I too use the leather cover from Yamaha. I think the reflection has to do with the height of the rider, at 5'7'' I must be right there!
  4. I guess brown collar that is me and my daughter. I was asked to put in for a supervisor's position, turn them down. Been there done that. Now I am happy my passenger never complain.
  5. My first bike a Honda CT70. Just like the photo. This summer while upstate NY at a swap meat I saw one and had to take a picture of it. And I almost forgot I just pick up a Yamaha XT225 Dual Sport on the 1st. Sure bring back memories... I could swear that they were bigger and more convertible back then.
  6. http://www.nolanhelmets.com/images/helmets/n100e1.jpg Specifications: The Nolan N100E is a high quality painted injection molded General Electric Lexan® EXL with outer clear coat. Flip-up full-face helmet. Scratch Resistant visor, injection molded in General Electric Lexan®. Smart Lift allows the easy chin guard opening using only the left lever. Removable and washable comfort padding; constructed with high-quality fabrics. Sanitized antimicrobial hypoallergenic interior. Microlock retention system. Nolan Fog Resistant system (NFR). The third feature of the visor is the "Nolan Fog Resistant System" or NFRS. The NFRS is a piece of plastic, most likely Lexan (Nolan isn’t saying), which fits on the inside of the visor between two pins on the main visor. When in place (it is shipped uninstalled) the NFRS did a very nice job of preventing fogging during test rides in temperatures from the 30’s to 90’s. Double D-Ring Retention System. DOT certified
  7. I think so! I enjoy both riding a Horse or my bikes! In either case you are straddling something!!!!
  8. I was thinking of that as well. But the master cylinder would take up the slack with more fluid. Yes you can adjust the lever at the master cylinder like SQUIDLEY said, but that would fix the symptom not if there is a problem. Retrace you step carefully make sore everything is installed correctly and move as they should. Than you can make adjustment at the lever to bring it to you comfort zone.
  9. 18k (still on the original Dunlops) as of January '07. That's about 10k a year up here in New York.
  10. -Take off, any tools that works best for you! -Put on , only my right hand!
  11. I agree with Steve. Just do all of it with care, before you may end up creating a problem when there wasn't one. If all else fail and you have a striped plug buy a new one, if it is the pan then I would try a TIME-SERT follow the link. http://www.timesert.com/index.html
  12. On my '06 The bottom rubber was there, but the plates on the inside were not. Got the bottom portion of the trunk replaced under warranty. And this time they installed the plates and rubber spacers. See attached photo for the inner plates with rubber spacers and outside bottom wide rubber bushing.
  13. I installed these pods, one on each side of the tail lens. I drilled a small hole on the side of the lens and wired it thought there. They work great, they are hardly noticeable until I hit the brakes then they flash very bright. http://www.bikerhiway.com/led-flashing-motorcycle-brake-lights-red-leds-p-336.html
  14. Me too and my inseam is only 30". Besides RSV looks like a motorcycle you can see and recognize the motor, the GW look like a Mazda Miata on two wheels.
  15. I WIN!! I WIN!!! I GOT IT WRIGHT! But no thanks, I'll keep my Venture.
  16. MAN! I have got to get out west!!!!!!!
  17. I say if it is a factory bike then it is a Kawasaki. Side bags and front fairing look like a BMW. Front fender look like my old 800 Vulcan. BUT the side front reflectors are definitely Kawasaki.
  18. Practice...practice...practice. Get on the list for the RLP video. Or better yet buy your own and you will be fine in no time! http://www.ridelikeapro.com/ http://www.ridelikeapro.com/images/RLAP5/RLAP_V_smcvr.jpg I can practically make u-turn in lock positions.
  19. New fuse panel anyone? http://www.bestrestproducts.com/celestia/products/electrical/
  20. Yes with a bit of persuasion! My persuader is on the floor next to the bike.
  21. For what is it worth I read all the posts regarding car tires on the Ventures so I can learn as much as I can before I make up my mind. As far as some of the questions on sizes, I relied on my years of foreign car experience and came up with the following: There were two cars sold in the USA, that had tire size close to the stock Ventures. They were the VW Beetle and the 140's series Volvo's both circa early 70's. ................................Venture ...................VW/Volvo tire ...............Difference Rim…………………………….4.00”…………………………….4-5.5” width range Tire…………………………….150/90-15…………………….165/80-15 Overall diameter………..25.60”…………………………..25.40”……………………………….-.20” Overall width………………6.02”……………………………..6.4”…………………………………..+.38” Now for the availability of tire that sizes it may be a little difficult. So far I have only tracked down two brands: Kumho-758 (see photo #1) and Nexen SB802 (see photo #2). Although these may work, I believe they are more auto oriented with a very flat tread area. The one tire I think that would work better is the Michelin ZXZ (see photo #3). I used this tire years ago on my cars. I found it to be quiet, normal longevity, good traction in dry or wet and most important it has a gradual change from tread to side wall compared to the other two, and I believe these qualities lend themselves better for motorcycle use. Hope this helps. And for those of you with 2nd Generation with 16" if I come up with anything I will post it.
  22. Today a Harley rider told me he would not ride anything else. I said I have never owned a Harley, I prefer the Venture. But that I would ride anything with two wheels and a motor. He replied that he would never get on one of those pointing at my Venture. I told him that I enjoy the silly grin that riding puts on my face:big-grin-emoticon: and not what people on the side of the road think of me or my bike. At that point he went all philosophical on me, and said "It's not just a ride but a way of life!" I do not get it and felt a bit naive. I guess after 32 years of riding and 16 bikes I am still a novice.
  23. It looks like you have a lot of exploring to do. No need to make your mind up in a hurry, you and the wife just have to go and visit all the places first. I know it sounds like a lot of hard work. I am tired of New York City and the cold:cold:. When I am ready I'm looking in NC between Charlotte and Lake Norman, places like Cornelius and Huntersville. Close enough to Charlotte for what ever needs and far enough from the traffic. But most important close to all that wonderful riding.
  24. Well folks I guess I am not going to get my 20K on the original Dunlops D404.:bawling:At 14,300 miles I can see a good ammount of wear. At best I may get another 2 to 4k. Time to look for tires. Hey, as anyone had any experience with RIDE ON tire protection sealer?
